Doubtless this is due to the sinister machinations of Bush administration appointees:

San Francisco, with its famously chilly summers, may have just gotten colder—but not because the weather changed.

It’s the location of the official downtown weather station that is different, moved from the top of a building in Duboce Park to the grounds of the U.S. Mint …

At its new spot, the equipment is much closer to the ground, which should yield more accurate readings. But ground temperatures also tend to be colder, and it’s possible—even probable, some say—that San Francisco’s official temperature readings will be two or three degrees lower than they were in the old location.

Via Daniel F. Meanwhile, Spiny Norman notes that James Spann has views on the Heidi Cullen controversy:

I have been in operational meteorology since 1978, and I know dozens and dozens of broadcast meteorologists all over the country. Our big job: look at a large volume of raw data and come up with a public weather forecast for the next seven days. I do not know of a single TV meteorologist who buys into the man-made global warming hype. I know there must be a few out there, but I can’t find them.

We’ve got one in Australia, James: name of Rob Gell.
