Well, week one and a couple of days.
A couple of upgrades await at the new site, including a daring innovation I call a “blogroll”, which lists other sites of interest. It should be added today. Also, moderation has been made speedier – although evidently not speedy enough for many PSRs (previous site readers). Apologies for that, but Australian libel laws are ******* ******* ridiculous and require that each comment be viewed before publication. Incidentally, naughty words will be ******* cut or edited, so don’t ******* use them. And editing the ******* things takes time, which causes delays, which adds to concerns about moderation not being ******* speedy enough.
(Not that many comments have required editing or cutting. Stunningly few, in fact. And the numerous lefties who’ve endlessly complained about being banned here and who vowed to show up in number at the new site simply haven’t appeared. Wimps.)
By the way, your moderators at the new site are Tran and Nkomo, two hard-working young immigrants keen to make careers for themselves in the lucrative Australian moderation caper. A live-and-let-live type of guy, Nkomo is inclined to let even the most contentious comments through. He doesn’t have issues with anybody, God bless him. Nkomo is a Libran who lists cricket and peace as his major interests.
But Tran is absolutely terrifying. The other day, down in the moderation pit, he got into a fight with one of Joe Hildebrand’s nightshift moderators over possessive apostrophes. The ambulance guys said they’d never before seen such elaborate knife wounds.
Thing is, Tran was armed only with a thesaurus. Sharpened, admittedly, but still just a thesaurus.
Treat both of them well. And treat Tran with extreme caution.
Now head on over to the new site.
wronwright begins cleaning out his cubicle. He notices many and sundry items purchased from one of paco’s many companies. All worthless now. Truth be told, they were worthless when he purchased them new. Boy those late nite commercials are hard to resist.
He picks up a key, one to the Tardis, entrusted to him several years ago. Reverently he places it in his cardboard box.
He sees a big yellow sponge, a special one, provided to him by Richard McEnroe for use in sopping up a Russian lake. Wistfully he notes it didn’t do jack when he tried using it after Hurricane Katrina. Probably another paco product.
Which brings him to the operators manual to the Japanese weather machine. Damn useless, that was. How did he know the OFF button was actually the LET IT BLOW!!! button. Let Michael Lonie figure out that manual.
Surprised, he finds his Zulu spear, hidden beneath some RWDB plans.
“Ooo, wouldn’t you know. All this time I blamed Andrea for filching it. Oh well, my mistake.”
Just then he hears a bell sounding the posting of a comment by Tim.
“Tran? Treat him with extreme caution? Tim tells this to a group of people who had to navigate the treacherous shoals of Andrea? Oh piffle. Tran was probably in high school when the readers here were posting comments. Let him learn the art from experienced practioners.”

Yay! Wronwright makes an appearance! You need to stay in touch somewhere, somehow with somebody, buddy; giving up wronwright would be like giving up coffee or beer for most of us (coffee and beer, for many). BTW, I don’t imagine you saved the receipts for all those Paco products? Your problems have “user error” written all over ‘em.
I expect I’ll be starting my own blog, soon; mostly a story and skit dump (including new stuff, of course), with perhaps the occasional timely observation and interesting link. That is, if I can figure out how this blogging thing works. If I ever float the the thing, I’ll post a link; although I guess it’ll have to be soon (I think I saw a “For Sale” sign in the front yard of Tim’s blog).
I’m already missing Miss Andrea and the frisson that just the vague possibility of her virtual presence could bring.
P.A.C.O could launch a perfume in her honor; the royalties could make her rich!

Hi wand
I’m at work now. I stumbled into the computer room and WOW! A new comment…
And Wronwright’s here, packing his stuff up… still no explanation for the olives…Wron, don’t leave us. We need to stick together here, er, there…#6
I dunno, the stench of flayed and burning troll doesn’t seem to be a scent which will catch on, Harry.
ppfftt!! So you have a couple of bouncers and a doorman at your new place.
Sheriff Andrea was the law in our town. Although she was known as the “hangin’ judge”, folks ‘round here respected the Lady Sheriff. She was hard but fair, and she didn’t take all the money in your pockets. She’d leave you enough coin to make sure you dropped a donation in the tin for the “Retired Sheriffs Home”.
Wronwright, I’ve brought some extra boxes. Looks like we’ll be awhile packing everything. Who are you going to donate all this stuff to?
- I have a gmail account kaeqld at there com
I’ll be the social-seketary/coordinator of the Society for the Preservation of RWDB’s who commented at the now defunct Timblair.com
if that’s OK? (Can someone work out an acronym for a name like that? It’s still too early for me!)
I don’t check it all the time, but I might have to start!I thought about starting up a blog, and quickly thought better of it. I’m a spectator/participant in comments, I don’t have the time for anything else.Blogroll good. What an amazing concept… hah!
What about all our other demands requests?O/T LOL Looks like Teddy will be explaining to Mary-Jo sooner than he thinks.
- So each blog has its own assigned mods. I had noticed a certain liberality at your blog; originally I figured there was just a roomful of people at terminals fielding comments from all over. If you’ve got yourself two perceptive moderators, Tim, well and good.
And the trolls don’t want to play. So sad, but it confirms my theory that the main attraction of timblair.net was the thrill of being banned. They wore the Mark Of Andrea like a medal – even better than getting caned by the headmaster for smoking in the toilets.Posted by SwinishCapitalist on 2008 05 20 at 05:41 PM • permalink
- Wronwright, please don’t leave us. This place needs you more than ever now.
With Paco’s help we can organise some really interesting missions for you.
I must keep the details secret for the moment but plans are well advanced for a project to save the Queensland Water Commissioner’s considerable hide.
I can tell you that the project involves a large chunk of the Antarctic ice shelf and the Somerset Dam.
The muster out of this paddock into the new paddock continues.
As usual some unmusterables, rangy, longhorned types with hides that tough a .223 just bounces orf, resistant to dawgs and disease, continue to hang around the ridges coming out in the late afternoon to drink.
These types ignore the choppers and the silly sirens. Men on horses are observed from afar and just giggled at.
I suspect they’ll have to be shot out.
BTEC repeats itself.
Anyone else see/hear this utter rot?
Global warming is now changing environment: study PRINT FRIENDLY EMAIL STORY
The World Today – Thursday, 15 May , 2008 12:19:00
Reporter: Jennifer Macey
ELEANOR HALL: Around the world, glaciers are melting, flowers are blooming out of season and hibernating animals are waking up earlier than they used to.Now for the first time scientists are making a direct link between these changes and global warming.
A report in the journal Nature suggests that human-induced climate change is having an impact on the natural environment much earlier than scientists had predicted.
But while the evidence from North America and Europe is overwhelming, there’s a gap in the research coming from Australia, as Jennifer Macey reports.
Just another trough opening up.
#26 kae – no I’d not heard it, but it’s just more of the same—and the agenda is quite clear as summed up by “Dr Brook is calling for ongoing endowment such as a future fund for science which enables researchers to do long-term studies without having to bid each year for funding grants”
Yeah. Sure an open check book without any ‘competition’ – a scientist’s dream. I think it is pretty safe to say the call will be ignored, as it should be irrespective of the politics.
And now you have only two to go to get to the …
I’ve just finished watching Turnbull speak at the National Press club and he was quite good apart from the climate change claptrap.
- #27 Wand, I watched it and agree that it was good.
My impression was that he was just sticking it to the Rudd government for their hypocrisy on climate change.
His point was the contrast between Rudd’s flowery promises at Bali, and Swan’s effectively killing the Australian solar power industry by means-testing the solar panel grants.
He wasn’t really saying that something must be done about climate change.I thought it was a well-written speech and well presented. He handled the usual dopey questions from the media effectively.
The grabs on tonight’s news will reflect none of that, of course.
Now you’ve gone and done it
>>> is everyone still there? <<<
No. I’ve gone home.
But Congratulations
Well done. But tread carefully from here on. You don’t know what could be around the corner. 11,001—mmm potentially quite risky!

Meanwhile, any chance News Ltd can give Marilyn Shepherd a blog? Perhaps it will encourage her to leave all the other bloggers alone.
I gather we are still here. Good kae, now we await the chook raffle to pay Paco for his contribution. You count now is 11001.

Agree. Seriously, the spontaneity of using the site like being on Jabber or Messenger has gone. I know Tim values his commentors and he’ll make it improve. It’s a bit slow after hours.
This comment will appear in a femtosecond.

- #66 Stevo, I saw on earlier news that someone had bet $700,000 on the Toads to win. Wonder how he is feeling.
And this post makes my total 1362. Just thought you would all like to know that.
I can remember Margo’s Maid used to congratulate everyone as they hit their 1000 and I looked forward to it happening for me.
Not a word from the Maid when I hit 1000.

Hi paco, Pogria, kae, Skeeter and all,
wronwright is being retired. He’s been given a gold watch and a nice pension by the VRWC. He plans to take the Tardis on a nice long vacation to Mesopotamia.
I’ll be sure to read Tim’s new blog and certainly any that paco creates.
Best wishes to you all.

Yowled with laughter when I saw that; thanks Kae. But before he can talk to Miss Kopechne he has to get past St. Peter, who unlike an American Democrat is not going to automatically genuflect before the name of Kennedy.
I made my first post on the other site yesterday; shall probably transition into using my real name there. “Anne B. aka Sonetka’s Mom,’’ that sort of thing, and eventually drop the screen name. You’ll know me by the Chicago dateline anyway.

Okay, yes, yes, yes. I sucked up all the olives, using a Klingon bird of prey. I ran amuck after reading Tim had sold out. And at the time, stealing all the olives seemed like a good act of revenge. But geez, I don’t know what to do with them all. I have barrels and barrels of them.
Maybe I’ll take over GENCO OLIVE OIL and sell them that way. I hope that’s not one of paco’s companies.

#126- Bloody hell- Fucking Phil Spector never had that responsive an echo chamber.
And The Conester must really believe the audience all have long pink ears- the most “interesting” questions were selected from thousands, and the Waxmuncher hadn’t seen any of them. We’re supposed to believe the most stage-managed pipsqueak ever to befoul national office ever does ANYTHING off the cuff? He wouldn’t have a shit unless he’d issued a press release and had his flacks scan the dunny for derogatory grafitti beforehand.
There really are some gerbils in the studio audience though- I reckon they’ve got a pen somewhere, and just shuttle them around in a solar bus between Gore Hill and SBS when they’re taping Insight– they’re really can’t be enough old, ugly hippies who applaud at any mention of “alternative energy”, hoot and gibber at a mention of the evil Howard regime and laugh like loons at the merest mention of Brendan Nelson to fill the audiences of these mutual fellatio sessions on a continually rotational basis.
And the resemblance between Tone and Kev is indeed disturbing- haven’t seen Cones scoffing his own secretions though.

Wooaah– Kev was getting ambushed by militant tailgunners on the left and reffo cuddlers on the right, and seriously looking like losing his shit- Snowy came to his rescue by steering it back to a plant about a bill or rights, followed by a dingbat who wants to allow perverts back to having free reign in the NT, in order to stick it up evil JWH. The assembled gibbon hooted their support, by when Waxy expressed mild support for applying law and order among indigines there was a smattering of applause and much derision.
Not going so well for the Mucus Muncher- the dementoleft love the idea of Anyone But Howard, but short of Bob Brown with an autoteller on his back anyone’s going to find it a tough audience.
Ddin’t make it to the pub- had a load of work lob in and only finished it after 8pm so it was a bit late to toddle over. I’ve been reviewing the value of toiling into the evening while viewing my ABC and seeing where 30-40% (with as much legal avoidance I can muster) of the proceeds going to these fuckwits. Should’ve gone out on the piss, but they’d get a wedge of my anyway through excise.

the moderation fluctuates from what I’ve seen and heard. While ever there is moderation, there will be no immediacy like we have here.
Commenting on the Wax Twins isn’t the same when you have to sit and wait for Tran and Nkomo to finish their shit and ciggie before they amble back and decide whether to drop the word fuck, or completely block a pic of a flying penis.
While a mental image of Tim wielding a bull whip over the two of them is delicious, the reality is they probably mumble something about having forgotten to wash their hands as they amble back outside for another smoke.

Each night my voice happens to sneak Through your “tran”sistor radio, ho-ho-ho I’m just a secret you can keep And no one ever needs to knowPosted by stackja1945 on 2008 05 22 at 08:07 PM • permalink
I’ve been looking through the “A Guide to Brisbane Pubs”, and have decided that August is the time to come up for a visit. They’re going to be holding the Second Annual Birthing Championships at the Brekky Creek. After the enormous popularity of the inaugural competition, particularly as it was well timed to coincide with Sailor’s Leave from visiting warships, sailors make great cheer squads, it was decided to make it an annual event.
They’ve also added another two events to the card. Because a lot of pub goers are still upset over the banning of Dwarf Tossing, there’s going to be a Placenta into the Esky toss, to be followed directly by the Dodge the Ambo in the Carpark run. A literal triathlon of human endurance!
I’m excited!! When I lived up there over twenty years ago, Brisbane was a boring place. It seems to have livened up a tad.
Tran does seem to have a sense of humor.
Things are getting posted fairly quickly.

Walking past Tim’s Telegraph site and there was a post “Diary of a Denialist”. Read it, couldn’t think of anything to say and went back to the Blair main page and lo, it was gone.
Maybe it was the Saturday column. Maybe it was a hacker. Maybe Tim has gone over to the other side. Maybe it was sarcasm.
Whatever it was, I still can’t think of a comment.

The “progressives” are up in arms at the “censorship”. It is only “art”. Why not anti-Moslem “art” and then watch the place go in flames. Now that would courageous “art”.Posted by stackja1945 on 2008 05 23 at 05:29 AM • permalink

Australian libel laws are ******* ******* ridiculous and require that each comment be viewed before publication. Incidentally, naughty words will be ******* cut or edited, so don’t ******* use them.
Tim feels stifled. And comments are stifled too. Double entendres may get somewhere. Or would Tran not allow them?

THERE’S no need to be scared of sharks when you’re in the Northern Territory – the crocs usually get to them first. Paul van Bruggen snapped these amazing pictures of a 2.5m saltie dining out on a shark on the banks of the Daly River, The Northern Territory News reports … Mr van Bruggen said the crocodile knew exactly what it was doing, dragging the shark on to unfamiliar dry land before finishing off its prey.
That’s Hugo, one of MarkL’s pets. He’s very smart and very very dangerous. I often find him following me around but MarkL claims he’s just trying to be a good minion. But I don’t trust him! Nor the crocodile.
A saltwater crocodile wants to be a VRWC minion? Oh geez.

Really, is this all that much different from the many sabbaticals that Tim takes. I can recall days, weeks even, when Tim didn’t post a comment.
I’m not complaining. I’m just saying it’s little wonder that people are comfortable sitting around in an empty room, drinking beer (by the way, where did that come from?), and lollygagging.
It would appear that the movers have already come and moved Tim’s furniture, personal effects, and yes, the beer out. It makes me wonder how long will it be until he sends security over to arrest the people here. Especially those who seem to have set up cots and coolers brought in eskies.
And who brought the TV?

about these costumes… just make sure you don’t dial up the ice age by mistake*, we’ll be Minionettesickles in no time!
And I think we should get that zulu spear back from Dave Follett… unless someone else is using it for something – like spurring on the moderators at New (Improved**) Telly Tim?*Oh, that’s right Wron said he “bumped” the dial… yeah, right. Your’e not at all related to him are you?** That’s a Ruddism. Maybe it should be in quotes?
- first of all, i am not related to mr wron.. i dont quit or pack up my “cubicle” when things change..
>clears throat< eh mr w?
second of all.. our costumes will be dialled up at the precise moment we need them
(i am an expert for all thing historian, costume wise)
and those rogue men will just have to fend for themselves as we go on to save the world as the blairitesses we are
The Tardis is kept in my celler in a very safe place. Behind a very strong oak door. Guarded by my dachsund a vicious guard dog.
Whoever “borrowed” the key from my nincompoop minion, splice, will find it impossible to penetrate those defenses.

3 Sister, where thou?First Witch
4 A sailor’s wife had chestnuts in her lap,
5 And munch’d, and munch’d, and munch’d. “Give me!” quoth I:
6 “Aroint thee, witch!” the rump-fed ronyon cries.
7 Her husband’s to Aleppo gone, master o’ the Tiger:
8 But in a sieve I’ll thither sail,
9 And, like a rat without a tail,
10 I’ll do, I’ll do, and I’ll do.Second Witch
11 I’ll give thee a wind.First Witch
12 Thou’rt kind.Third Witch
13 And I another.First Witch
14 I myself have all the other,
15 And the very ports they blow,
16 All the quarters that they know
17 I’ the shipman’s card.
18 I will drain him dry as hay:
19 Sleep shall neither night nor day
20 Hang upon his penthouse lid;
21 He shall live a man forbid:
22 Weary se’nnights nine times nine
23 Shall he dwindle, peak and pine:
24 Though his bark cannot be lost,
25 Yet it shall be tempest-toss’d.
26 Look what I have.
- we set off to worlds unknown, kae with her strength and me with with nothing but imagination
kae is strong with her beliefs..
i admire her..
everywhere around us are those crying out for help
help is what we do for ourselves
so many of us came here with nothing
yet we accomplished so much
oh hell i am not the voice of those who help themselves

- Epic of the Exodus:
Arctic Penguins
Remember the Man Long ago we penguins lived
At both Poles, North and South;
But up north, we disappeared
Into the White Bear’s mouth. He loved his Penguin Tartare,
It was his daily dish;
When our cousins all were gone,
He turned to eating fish.We were safe, a world away,
That’s what we were thinking,
‘Til we heard the rumor that
White Bear’s pole was shrinking.Warming cultists made a pact,
They would save the White Bear,
They believed our refuge was
Quite big enough to share. The vast Greenpeace armada
And White Bear headed south;
Each day, despairing penguins
Grew closer to his mouth. Our elders counselled panic,
Each penguin face was grim,
And then the cold mist parted,
And then we all saw Him.Single file, we marched aboard
His rafts, and then set forth;
Headed for our new refuge –
In the bear-less North.A million happy penguins
Passed the puzzled White Bear,
Waving flippers at Greenpeace
Who stopped, in shock, to stare. If White Bear can’t eat penguins,
He’ll eat some other meat;
Goodbye Warming cultists,
Goodbye Greenpeace fleet.Penguins live a good life now,
And owe it all to Him;
He only gave his first name:
We know him as Mad Tim.(translated from the Penguin by lyle)
- #236
MM, Andrea, CL would probably welcome you anytime lyle.
I do not like the new Tim, seems too stuffy. They need to open up more.
I know what Tim said:Apologies for that, but Australian libel laws are ******* ******* ridiculous and require that each comment be viewed before publication. Incidentally, naughty words will be ******* cut or edited, so don’t ******* use them. And editing the ******* things takes time, which causes delays, which adds to concerns about moderation not being ******* speedy enough.
But we are adults and can behave. Well most of the time. As kae says he he.
