Antony Loewenstein, January 15:

I was recently appointed to the Board of Macquarie University’s Centre for Middle Eastern and North African Studies. This was due to a number of board members, and staff at Macquarie, expressing support for my work. I was told they wanted to attract journalists, rather than just academics, to the board.

Dr Andrew Vincent, director of Macquarie University’s Centre for Middle Eastern and North African Studies, in the Australian Jewish News, January 27 (no link available):

We wanted a Jewish person on the board. We didn’t have any Jews on the board and it seemed to be an absence.

So Antony was appointed because he was a Jew! Given he doesn’t believe in Jewish entitlement, I expect Loewenstein will take the honourable course and resign.

(In the article, Vincent is further quoted condemning Loewenstein with cruelly faint praise: “He was a fairly well qualified person …”)

    1. I have yet to meet an ‘authority’ less qualified on the subject matter who holds such strong (and erroneous) views.

    1. Perfect Academic search for the truth, devotion to scholorship. Appoint someone without scholarly credentials just because he’s a Jew. And not only because he’s a Jew, but a bitter, ignorant, self-hating Jew. Says much about the standards of this Mockerie so-called University. Uncle Tominskie can shuffle along serving them the anit-semetic vitriol they so desire to imbibe, but in the end they will revile and mock him for the ass-hole he is.

    1. I wrote to the AJN about Antony last week in a letter they printed about Sharon.
I mentioned Antony’s remark on Israel from Tim’s earlier postings as an example of the traitors in our midst, that Sharon had had to contend with in defending Israel from the Hyenas within and without.
They edited out the Antony quotes.
Obviously Macquarie has either not done their homework or they share Antony’s exterminationist ideas for his fellow Jews.

    1. I have a theory on why academic boards trend to the left.

In order to avoid being outsmarted by the “new guy”, people will only appoint others who are dumber than themselves.

Eventually, it means you have to start scraping from the bottom of the barrel where all the lefties are.

I believe Charles Krauthammer was paralyzed in an automobile accident while in medical school. The fact that he finished med school after being paralyzed speaks volumes about his bravery.

BTW, Dr Krauthammer’s brother Marcel died this week. Sorry I don’t have a link to a very moving tribute but you can google it (unless you live in China).

      Not so fast…

Loewenstein said he would “happily take the award and unending adulation” which begins nauseatingly in the first comment of thispost. More kudos is followed by one comment which says:

Can’t wait to read what sour grapes inspired snipe the magnanimous Tim Blair comes up with.

Well…the contest is not as it seems.

The so-called “2006 Australian Blog Awards” were run by a small blog, Collective Apathy – http://www.collectiveapathy.com. Ever heard of it? Nope… Me neither, a local primary school could probably organise a more successful contest as a fundraiser.

Enjoy the glory of the award Antony! It’s about as small and irrelevant as you are.

If you feel like a giggle or two, pop over to the awards site and see the havoc that the delinquent anarchists at “Spin Starts Here” (on Tim’s Blogroll) have wrought on the award voting system.

Hilarious stuff. The Electoral Commission should be taking notes.

Meanwhile, assuming a comment on this page is real, Tim Blair didn’t want to know about the pissweak contest and (politely) declined nomination. Despite this request, and several others, one of the organisers – Vlado wrote:

Enough with the declining nominations! There awards are the people saying what their favourite blogs are… it’s not a spot on a board or council.

And we all know how hard it is for some people to get one of those…

We should be encouraging all the American and British universities that jump on the “Divest Israel” campaign to invest heavily in the Palestinians.
