Just as long as you realise that human rights are as foreign to Stalinism as they and democracy are to the US empire.
Oh, fuck off. The “US empire” sure has stifled your ability to spout the garbage you call your opinions, hasn’t it?
Sometimes I think we should act the way retards like Gehlen say we do. But that quickly passes, not just because it’s repulsive, but also because I realize that what those retards are doing is striking a pose to make their worthless lives seem important, while they studiously ignore the real evil in the world. Much safer to oppose an imaginary tyranny than to stand against the real thing, eh?

“After 589, the Christian Visigoths of Hispania persecuted the Jews severely; therefore, the Jews welcomed the Muslim Arab and mainly Berber conquerors in the 8th century. The conquered cities of Córdoba, Málaga, Granada, Seville, and Toledo were briefly placed under the control of the Jewish inhabitants, who had been armed by the Moorish invaders. The victors removed the Christian Visigoths’ oppressive restrictions and granted the Jews full religious liberty, requiring them only to pay the tribute of one golden dinar per capita(Jizya).”
…because I realize that what those retards are doing is striking a pose to make their worthless lives seem important, while they studiously ignore the real evil in the world. Much safer to oppose an imaginary tyranny than to stand against the real thing, eh?
Nicely said, Rob. Gehlen is another loser, living in a fantasy world where he’s a super important person fighting the good fight against an evil empire….largely because he’s afraid to face the real evil. It’s easier (and safer) to sneer at countries that won’t shoot him for expressing his “dissent”.

Interesting that you don’t provide a link to your source. Equally interesting is the fact that Mohammed was born in AD 570….and didn’t found Islam until he was 40*. That would be in AD 610. Your quote says “589”.
The Moorish Empire started conquering Europe in around AD 700 or so.

Welll…I wouldn’t say Bush is THAT important, and his ‘evil empire’ act is obviously stolen from Reagan (the distinction being that to my knowledge the US didn’t train and supply the USSR during the Cold War, unlike Bin Laden and co.) but I would agree he’s afraid to look himself in the mirror…or at least sneak a peak at Cheney…

Parable ensues……..now.
Confucius was out walking one day when he came upon a stranger. The stranger began hurling terrible insults at him(no, I don’t know why either, it’s a parable so get off my back!). Confucius just smiled. This really made the stranger angry. The stranger then doubled the insults. Confucius simply smiled. The stranger looked bewildereed. Confucius then stated;

Is anyone getting Déjà vu to that scene from Trainspotting where Begbie realizes that some numpty wants to have a go, then her just yells “Yeaaaah!” and starts obliterating people? I get that same feeling watching R Ghelen try and fight a rearguard action after those ridiculous comments about Stalinist Russia and the USA. So many statements that are just adolescent and purely ignorant. Oh where to start? I take it that the reference to the British Empire having some kind of bodycount record is a reference to the story Tim linked to. OK, let’s start there.
It seems that in Retard World (closely aligned to Bizarro World, but where instead of just being the reverse, everyone is stupid) racism is justified if it against white/Anglo-Saxon/English speaking/successful/motivated type people. Ignore the fact that in the case mentioned, a white British person was convicted of racism against another white British person, lets go with a hypothetical here that should clear up the moral stand that fucktard here is trying to make. Say, oh I don’t know, a Pakistani British person called an English British person an English bitch. That would be justified in the wrong but right viewpoint of the mentally challenged left, because the person offering the racist comment was of a minority in the British Isles, it would then be OK because of the inherent racism of the native British people against immigrants. But wait, would not the English British person then be able to claim some kind of native title type defence based on the fact that England is in fact an island in Northern Europe, populated by, wait for it, Northern Europeans. It seems not. Racism is only racism if it directed against a minority in any given location…..or is it? Say a white British person referred to a Chinese person in Beijing as a Chinese bitch, that would be OK because the white British person was in the minority……..wrong again. The left don’t see racism as purely a case of one racial group discriminating against another; they have to impose some kind of cultural guilt filter over it to determine that no matter the circumstances, the white/Anglo-Saxon/English speaking/successful/motivated type person would be in the wrong. It would help if they were wealthy as well.
I lived in PNG for a while. If you want to see racism, have a look at that society. They are not only racist against non-black people; it goes as far as region, tribe and then village. Only in PNG would a darker skinned tribe refer to a lighter skinned tribe as redskins, and not see the irony.
I won’t even go into the braindead assertion that our resident “special needs child” has been making about relative bodycounts. I’ll leave that to other members of the VRWC, but suffice to say, cultural relativity is an exercise that only those embedded in their own cultural superiority can revel in.

I love it when the more retarded neocommies come out to play (and thanks Andrea for ridding us of this particular piece of filth so efficiently). This one was a gross ignoramus (144 times worse then a normal ignoramus). I love the way it implied that ‘Stalinist Russia was not an empire’: when it took over the precise borders of the Czarist Empire – and then started adding new territory.
And this gem, which you will find from the mouth of both this little fascist-wannabe and in National Socialist propaganda:
Just as long as you realise that human rights are as foreign to Stalinism as they and democracy are to the US empire.
Obviously, our little neocommie had not even read the Soviet constitution, in which are to be found guarantees of all the human rights and democratic freedoms one could ever hope for. It is just that individuals somehow could not access them.
I could go on, but there is no point, as self-absorbed fabulists like this are perfectly immune to reality.

I know mr Nazi spymaster is banned, but I’m going to point out that the Empire with one of the biggest body count (adjusted for time period) was probably that of the Mongols. Hulagu Khan not only invaded Mesopotamia, he completely levelled Baghdad, and rolled up the Caliph in a carpet before killing the guy.
The harshness was due to a backlash against oppression of Nestorian Christians in the Islamic world, most likely (Hulagu’s wife and his chief general, Kitabaqu, were of that religion).

#132 it’s a collossal re-writing of history, that the fascist parties of 20th century Europe have long been classified in classrooms as “right wing.”
Fascism was a renegade offshoot of socialism. Evidence being, for example, that they called themselves socialists, executed all the capitalists, persecuted Jews, introduced massive state control of every part of life, and believed in a workers paradise.
The battle over terminology is lost. For this reason, conservatives should reject the term “right wing,” and dismiss it as an artifact of 20th century European history, with no meaning in today’s political debate.

’The victors brutal, colonising, warmongering invaders removed slaughtered & oppressed the native Christian Visigoths’ isn’t that how it’s supposed to sound in left terminology? Remove any references to religion of oppressed & insert standard anti-oppression adjectives.
The problem with Feckheads like Gehlen is they somehow manage to commit their disjointed litany of victimisation to memory, but are incapable of doing anything more with it than regurgitating it in a piece for unrelated piece whinge.

True. But, the Nazis were, in fact, socialists.
You cannot have a totalitarian state that doesn’t control the means of production and the distribution of goods.
All totalitarian states are socialist.

I suppose it is a matter of definition. In my book, Fascism is not Socialism, but fascism and socialism, along with Stalinism are various forms of statism. If state control = socialism, then the Louis XIV, who declared “I am the state”, was a socialist.
In the UK during Word War II, the production and distribution of goods were controlled by the state, so George VI and Churchill were “socialists”.

In my book, Fascism is not Socialism, but fascism and socialism, along with Stalinism are various forms of statism.
We’re quibbling over definitions now. I think the common ground here is that there are marked similarities between the two, and not just statism. The article I linked to earlier goes through several parallels.
You haven’t objected to our claim that fascism is not a right-wing ideology, in that it does not share its core principles with modern conservatism or classic liberalism. Therefore, I take it you agree: putting fascism in the same category as modern democratic conservatives is a monstrous historical lie.
As an aside, I’d add that I grew up hearing jokey expressions like “he’ll be first against the wall when the revolution comes,” invariably applied to various Australian capitalists. I now know that those expressions have a direct lineage to actual, real, socialist revolutions throught last century.
Those expressions now turn my stomach.Posted by daddy dave on 2007 12 01 at 08:45 PM • permalink
“Take a look at these two:”
I’d rather look at nude photos of Catherine Deveny.
Those two mugs are what puts the “ugh” in ugly.

Oh Man! His Head! His Eyes! I know that bucket is going to come haunting me in my nightmares. That ‘caring’ and ‘nurturing’ expression on that austere and hell-battered head. It is demonic!
And her expression…she looks like a female frankenstien with those cold staring eyes!
God help me!!
