“Prominent and everyday Democrats [are] splitting with spouses, siblings, parents and children,” warned the NYT a few weeks ago. Democrat divisiveness continues:

A US man stabbed his relative after an argument over the presidential credentials of Barack Obama and Hillary Clinton.

Brothers-in-law Jose Ortiz and Sean Shurelds were arguing about the fiery contest for the Democratic nomination for president at their Pennsylvania home when the dispute escalated into violence, US broadcaster CBS said.

Interestingly, Ortiz is described as “a registered Republican and Clinton supporter”; not one of the broader demographic groups in the US. The report continues:

The contest between Senator Obama and Senator Clinton has been on a knife edge …

So it seems.

“The leading Republican presidential candidate, John McCain, has Barack Obama in his sights.”

      Now

“The contest between Senator Obama and Senator Clinton has been on a knife edge …”

      What next?

    1. It’s ironic that the Democrats are splitting apart, but the Republicans are at least trying to remain united.

“I certainly understand that politics – and this race, in particular – has generated a lot of passion,” said [Montgomery County DA] Ferman, “but this is one of the most unusual expressions of political passion I have ever seen.”

No mention yet of either debate or knife bans to stem the in-law violence phenomena.

And the old dawg waits for the lads to be distracted sooling them on and betting which dog is going to finish on top. He sneaks in and grabs a mouthful of scones, then slinks into the engine shed and scoffs the lot. The expert goes into crank the lister and finds an old dawg and a few crumbs.

    1. It’s all a masterplan by the Democrats to appear so divided ahead of the general election that, should their guy or gal actually be elected, their subsequent policies are less likely to be considered “divisive” by the party wing that lost out in the primaries.

Or maybe they just wanna make sure Obama gets assassinated ahead of the election so there’s still time to switch to Hillary instead of getting stuck for 3.5 years with whatever doofus is going to get the veep nomination (John Edwards? John Kerry?)…

Maybe the Democrats in my neighborhood are too busy knifing each other and my turn to be stabbed will come later.

    1. BTW, quick question to the American members: Given that McCain has things all but wrapped up already while the Donks are likely to continue fighting all the way into summer (and if the current state is any indication, it’ll be nasty) – is there any chance that undecided voters will be fed up with both Hillary and Obama by the time they’re done sticking knives into each other, and McCain will profit from that, or am I overestimating people’s memories/ability to remain disgusted?

    1. “ #7, Pickles, I rekon the seppo’s have buckleys of understanding what you just said.’’

I understood everything except “rousy.’’ On the other hand I don’t know what “buckleys’’ means in the sentence I just quoted, so I guess it’s a wash.

PW, in answer to your question at #21 – McCain for one just got a big boost from that NY Times smear of a few days ago (a poster here referred to it as an “own goal’’ and I think that’s exactly right).  How long it will last, I don’t know.

As for Hillary and Obama – frankly I think it’s out of the voters’ hands now.  Hillary will not give up no matter what and will be in there fighting right up until the convention, when it will be up to the delegates.  What happens then? …  A couple of astute commentators (The Anchoress and John Derbyshire) are both predicting that in the end the Dems will get sick of both and will choose another candidate to run.  The Anchoress didn’t venture any names but Derb predicted Al Gore.

My husband (you know him here as Urbs in Horto) has thrown out an even wilder possibility:  Jimmy Carter.  He’d be perfect, wouldn’t he?  He’s been President once so he can claim “experience,’’ he’s got a Nobel Peace Prize, and he certainly has got the sanctimoniousness down pat.  The Dems should love him.

Room 237, I feel your pain – I’m in Chicago too and surrounded by Obamamaniacs (not Urbs of course, but most of our neighbors and several of my in-laws).  The only amusing thing is that his rabid Leftie sister is an Obama fan and suddenly she’s shocked and outraged by Hillary’s dirty behavior.  Welcome to my world, hon.

    1. #22—In my neighborhood, I have seen lots of Obama signs of course.  One of my neighbors has a McCain sign in his window.  There are some Giuliani stickers here and there and lots of Rom Paul stickers and signs (I live where Lincoln Park and Old Town come together, so DePaul is right there—I suspect the Ron Paul supporters are students).

The only Clinton sign I have seen is in the window of a house that also has a big lithograph of Elvis in the window.  I guess there is a connection somewhere.

And it would not surprise me if Al Gore steps in as the White Knight—I suspect that is why he is not endorsing Obama.

Not with the dedicated, Kool-aid slurping leftie nutroot crowd, PW.  They’d vote Democratic even if they were dead and buried (and that’s not hyperbole, the Chicago Democratic machine may not have invented “voting the graveyard”, but they sure as hell refined the process).

No, the swing voters will be the ones who are more likely get fed up with the Shrillary/Messiah™ knife fight.  And that depends in large part on how McCain presents himself.

    1. Well, one addendum to #27:  Some people will vote for Nader, if he’s on the ticket (or by write in) just because he’s a third choice.  Or because they’re tired of both the Dhimmicrats and Rethuglicans.

  1. Continuing the trend from previous elections, Nader will get 3 votes, if his mother remembers to vote for him.

Is anyone else reminded of Jimmy Carter by Obama?  Not much substance, nice to his enemies, totally clueless about the economy… I’ve seen that show, no need for a repeat.
