Via Bernie Slattery, the searing reaction of John Laws to an attempted takedown by Phillip Adams:

There’s a strong suggestion in his column that I have flaws in my personality, but I would like to ask Adams how flawed his character would have to be to deny access to the lane beside his house in Sydney’s eastern suburbs to a 91-year-old woman in a wheelchair wishing to be with her family on Christmas Day? This woman had to eventually be carried down a very steep, narrow flight of stairs by four men …

While being critical about broadcasters, particularly talkback broadcasters, Adams forgets to tell you that he’s without a doubt the greatest failure ever to open a microphone on 2UE. He failed more than miserably on the breakfast program, and then attempted the night-time program, which was supposed to be talkback. According to John Brennan, who did his best to nurse Adams through the nights, he was afraid to take telephone calls.

Ouch! To be fair, possibly Phil was too busy charming his guests to be bothered by any pesky callers.
