Mischievous Malcolm Farr reports:

More than 80 per cent of the Greens believe the Government should keep asylum seekers in mandatory detention centres.

Well, that’s one interpretation of a poll on the Greens web site, which is taking a startling detour from party policy.

The overwhelming number of respondents, up to 84 per cent at one point, selected “Make no change to the harsh current situation”

The people have spoken! Meanwhile, loser Greens plan to take over the Senate:

The long-term “Rescue the Senate” strategy is to have the Greens or the ALP win four of the six Senate seats available in at least two states in 2007.

“July 1, 2005, is day one of the campaign to wrest control of the Senate from John Howard,” Senator Brown said.

“The Coalition vote need only fall below 43 per cent at the next election to make the Greens’ plan a reality,” he said.

Try winning an online poll first, kids.
