Headline in the Gulf Daily News:
Four killed by Zionists
On reading the accompanying story, however, it becomes clear only one killing might be pinned on the Zionists. The other three took care of themselves:
Three men died and five other were wounded in a house when a family member brought in and accidentally set off an unexploded Israeli shell that landed near the area, Palestinian security sources said.
In other regional developments, it turns out the Palestinian dictionary needs updating:
Palestinian officials, from both the PA and government, say emphatically that they will not allow a civil war to materialise. Haniyeh, speaking to reporters in Gaza on Tuesday, said: “Civil war is a repugnant term no Palestinian likes. The term doesn’t exist in the Palestinian dictionary. I assure you that these incidents can be overcome.”
Now, if only they can work on that picking-up-ordnance-and-taking-it-home problem …

- Other words that don’t exist in the Palestinian dictionary: compromise, tolerance, live-and-let-live, Israel . . .Posted by paco on 2006 05 27 at 10:52 AM • permalink
- no, muslims have an excuse for their head chopping ways.
- “Whenever somebody fires a few rounds into the air, some Western news agency will report that gun battles are raging between Fatah and Hamas. What kind of journalism is this?”
The kind of journalism that’s finally forced to tell the truth when it’s Palestinians shooting at Palestinians, instead of lying about it when it’s Palestinians shooting at Israelis.

The sources said the men killed were in their twenties, and two were from the same family. No militants were inside the house, the sources said.
Isn’t it just amazing how “non-militant” Palestinians just had to bring unexploded ordinance home?

- Shit, I’m gonna’ have to stop, bringing home all those unexploded shells I find.
Though they did make some of the cutest doodads, like paperweights, ashtrays, lamp bases, etc.
Not to name names BUT, I’m beginning to think some folks in the Middle East of the Islamic persuasion (generic name, SEE. I did NOT say
Persians, norSyrians, norPalestinians) are in fact the properly named ‘missing link’.
- Not militants, eh? I bet they didn’t have much of a social life.Posted by Harry Eagar on 2006 05 27 at 01:40 PM • permalink

- They have to distinguish between killers over there. There are the ones killed by Zionists, and the many, many others killed by their Moslem brethren.
The Gulf Daily News is a bit like our ABC, which sreams blue bloody murder when Palestinians die, only when they are killed by Israelis, but they hardly ever, and I mean hardly ever, mention it when Palestinians are killed by each other!
- I wonder if they words like “terrorist” and “militant”, and what the definitions might be.Posted by Jim Geones on 2006 05 28 at 04:12 AM • permalink
- You see this all the time here in Iraq. The best one I’ve heard so far is from 2003, from a buddy in my unit. They were driving north to Baghdad, and they passed a SCUD missle abandoned next to the road. Two locals next to it, one of whom is bashing the nose of the thing with a sledgehammer. Stupidity? Fatalism? Too eager for scrap metal? Who the hell knows?
- 18 It’s hard to say, precisely, but in a situation like that, “stupidity” looks to be the best bet.Posted by Stoop Davy Dave on 2006 05 28 at 01:54 PM • permalink
- Geez – how much money has Israel wasted on Apache helicopters over the years when they could have just left some unexpoloded shells lying around. I wonder if they could have even put Hamas terrorists names on it and their address and these idiots would have been good enough to return to its “owner”.Posted by the nailgun on 2006 05 28 at 06:08 PM • permalink
