Ted Rall challenges right-wingers to come up with the “worst, most vicious examples of liberal/leftie blogger vitriol” (which Rall claims can’t be located). John Hawkins answers that challenge. Charles Johnson observes: “Rall is increasingly irrelevant and he’s lashing out. That’s all. Perfectly understandable. I almost feel for the guy.”

UPDATE. “This challenge is no challenge at all.”

    1. You know Rall’s just looking for script ideas, right?

    1. Ah, yes, Ted. Forgotten, but not gone.

    1. Someday, Ted Rall will be seen scribbing cartoons on discarded McDonald’s paperbags with a stubby pencil, while waving the flies away.

    1. Is taking this challenge such a good idea?  Anyone who speaks of or to Ted Rall is just asking to be sued.  Seriously.  I just got a cease and desist letter in my in-box right now.

I mean, it’s not like the little cad is going to say “Oh my gosh, all my readers are assholes, sorry guys.” Quote someone who says Bush is a baby-eating Nazi and Rall will think the guy didn’t go far enough.

I thought the boy was doing what you indicated, now. Oh and the

      that’s his family.

    1. How about anti-American vitriol?

Sortelli: what is a cease and desist “letter”? I think the one David Horowitz got, for publishing Rall’s picture, was also a “letter” from Rall himself.  Anybody can write these. They are not “orders”. Or am I missing something?

    1. I think Sortelli’s right.  If you quoted to Rall the wildest, ugliest, most hate-filled garbage the Left produces, all he’d say was, “That’s not abuse, that’s reasoned opinion.’’
Whereas if you say Margo Kingston is incoherent or Maureen Dowd writes like a snotty seventh-grader, that’s hate speech, and probably sexist as well.

There’s no point in trying to reason with a rabid Chihuahua like Rall.

    1. If Ted Rall sent me a cease-and-desist letter I’d frame it and hang it on my wall after sending him one back that said simply, “FREE DIRTY DANNY!” Rall is a sad little clown.

    1. Apparently, in the best tradition of the Left, Rall has run away crying.  His mailbox is bouncing.  Another case of Kerryitis, when you go from “Bring it on” to “Make it stop!” in one minute flat.

    1. Hawkins left out an obvious infamous example of the left’s vitriol and it didn’t come from a commenter hidden in some long thread; it came from Kos himself.  Doesn’t anyone remember the Daily Kos’ infamous “Screw ‘em”?

    1. I don’t see why we have to give T3d R@ll the google hits whenever he intrudes into our happy little consciousnesses.

As for the vitriol, I haven’t noticed anyone mentioning the quite-sizeable Gallery of Bush = Hitler Allusions yet.

Nope, you got it all figured out.  Little Teddy just likes to bully anyone who speaks against him with serious-sounding threats of legal action and/or reporting them to the FBI for saying things like “I hope Rall chokes on the shit he spews”.

… whoops, just got another angry letter.

Seriously, Ted Rall has a little book on his desk called Revolution For Pussies: How to Destroy the System When You’re Too Chickenshit to Fight for your Beliefs{/i]

Apparently using money and power to abuse the system and hold people down in his quest to destroy the system that he believes uses money and power to hold people down is, like, ironic instead of hypocrisy.

  • Ha ha!  Way to go, saintkansas.
Wow, I have to say, Rall actually has gone and said “Holy crap, my audience really is a bunch of frothing vile fucktards, who knew?”

Oh, wait, I mean he actually said:

“Believe it or not, no, I did NOT know that any of this stuff was out there. I’d read references by Republican bloggers to such things, but no one ever provided a link and I could never find it….Has the challenge been met? Yes.”

I’m trusting RWN for that quote, because I sure as hell ain’t clicking on anymore Rall links.

  • “Believe it or not, no, I did NOT know that any of this stuff was out there.”

I’m sure he’ll still agree with the leftist orthodoxy that it’s actually the hated (and hating) Christian fundamentalists who grow up in sheltered worlds with no contact to what real life is like, though.

Semi Off-topic, Rall’s problem is simply that he has NEVER ONCE strayed from the liberal plantation in his life. Witness e.g. the comments David Corn got for daring to contradict the party line on Gannongate. (Highlights: an insinuation that Corn is on the take from the White House, somebody bitching that Corn is “sitting on [his] fat ass pontificating” while lefty bloggers are out there “investigating”, and my favorite among many, many people professing to be extremely “disappointed” that Corn doesn’t want to share the fever swamp with them: “I’m disappointed that David Corn is evidently too complacent to recognize a good scandal when he sees one. Or maybe, like the rest of the media, whoring is par for the course.” And that’s just the first 50 or so comments out of 170+.)

The fact that Rall has never received liberal hate mail just speaks to the reliability (nay, predictability) of his viewpoints. Not that he’s going to recognize that anytime soon, of course.

Fair enough. I don’t care overmuch for the recipient either.

  • I’m taking the OR NOT option of “Believe it or not”, I’ve never seen someone talk about leftist hate speech without a pile of links, evidence, and hell, PHOTOS.  We smother that sort of thing with attention.

Rall just couldn’t find an easy way to back out, so he’s playing “reasonable” for right now.  Give him a week and he’ll be back to racist remarks about Condi and raving about pipelines in Afghanistan.

  • ”…I did NOT know that any of this stuff was out there”

With his cartoons, we see Ted Rall can’t draw.  From his blog, we see Ted Rall can’t reason.  And now, from this one line, we see Ted Rall can’t even use a simple search engine.

Proof positive, from his own mouth (metaphorically speaking).  Ted Rall is an idiot.

  • ‘A political mediocrity in Texas’?

I’m sure that Phil got all squirmily smug with that bit of snark. But shouldn’t a professional writer have at least minumum standards for accuracy?

Except for a failed Congressional campaign in his twenties, GW’s political ascendancy in Texas was stunning. He first ran for statewide office in 1992, against popular incumbent and media fave Ann Richards. In a predominantly Democrat state, he beat her with 53% of the vote. He transformed the Texas political landscape, and in 1998 was re-elected in a landslide. He immediately began running for president.

A better description of GW’s poltical career would be ‘meteoric’ or ‘transformative’. And the pathetically unworldly Phil might like to know that Texas has a larger population and economy than Australia.

  • Eh. I won’t soil Rall’s in-box with my e-mail address.

But he brings to mind my favorite quote from an end-of-2004 piece in the arts & entertainment weekly http://www.dallasobserver.com:

Compassionate conservatives: Pharmacists at Denton Eckerd drugstore refuse to fill a prescription for a “morning after” birth control pill for a woman who had been raped. The druggists, who are fired by the chain, say the pill could induce an abortion, which they morally oppose. A San Antonio state legislator, his heart brimming with compassion over this outrage, this invasion of privacy and breach of decency, later files a bill intended to ensure that no similar injustices occur–the firings of those poor pharmacists, we mean. State Representative Frank Corte Jr.’s bill, the “Just Lay Back and Enjoy It, You Slut, Act of 2005,” would protect the jobs of pharmacists who refuse to dispense prescriptions on moral grounds.

The bolded text is supposedly satire, a reference to an unfortunate 1990 quip from an gubernatorial candidate comparing rape to bad weather (“if it’s inevitable, just lie back and enjoy it”).

Everyone else would like to forget the candidate, who disappeared after losing the race.  But the lefties keep running against him.
