- There were five kids in my family. We may not have had guests often, but we’d occasionally host a reunion of my mother’s family. There’d easily be 50-60 people there.

Running computers, fax machines, scanners, and roll-to-roll industrial printing presses eighteen hours a day. Check.

Because the rest of just profligately burn energy for recreational purposes, not doing anything in our lives or our jobs that contributes positively to the general welfare of the world. Check.
That is not at all a condescending, feeble attempt at an excuse. Really.
Now I’m going to write a letter of concern to my local paper about the global climate crisis, thus helping raise awareness of the problem, so that I may barbeque a harp seal.
- I have some annoying leftoid friends who preach to everyone about enviromatters, particularly global warming. They are never home on the weekend, either they have driven for a weekend away or they are flying somewhere. The flights are always on the public tit, as well. They, of course, see no contradiction. Kalee Kreider, Gore’s spokeswoman, doesn’t dispute the numbers the report is based on but says the numbers need a little context.
Context? I’ll give you context. AlGore is just one more self-important, self-absorbed, elitist liberal (forgive the redundancy) who stands high atop Mount DoasIsaynotasIdo and issues edicts to the little people (we of no consequence). There’s your context.
Looking beyond the monthly bills, Kreider said, “I think you’d see, obviously, a pretty clear pattern here of trying to devote a substantial amount of time to his effort of trying to solve this problem” of global warming.
As well he should since, it seems, he’s responsible for much of it. One small carbon footprint for Man, one giant carbon hoof print for Agore. (apologies to Neil Armstrong)
That one was easy, Treacher (#5). Everything that’s ever happened, is happening now and will happen in the future is Bush’s fault.

- It is good to see Gore coping it for his blatant hyprocrisy.
I have no problem with people getting passionate about the environment or any other such issues. However I am a strong believer in leading by example.
People like Gore have no excuse really for minimising their consumption, he is wealthy enough to lead the way to show the rest of us just how easy it is, or what can be done and if it is not that simple then what does that say? What does that mean for people who are not as well off as he is? Maybe that is why he doesn’t bother.
Oh and if he has not been tallying up his carbon footprint by all that jetting around he has been doing then that is another point against him. No doubt he will start making a big song and dance now about how he is going all out to minimise his emissions but frankly that is too late since that activity will be mainly due to the “naming and shaming” he has copped.

So the more he talks up global warming the more his company stands to make in fees for investing other people’s money. Global warming is perfect for environmentalists. They can argue that Earth needs to go back to the times before the Industrial Revolution or the polar ice will melt and we’ll all drown. That is if the storms don’t get us first.
Truth be told, they probably don’t care if it’s all crap. They want the West to shed its factories and all machinery and technology and sit down on the grass besides Walden Pond.

- The local Greens spokes-ape was on the radio this morning saying that because Gore does so much good work for the planet, he should be excused his energy consumption.
If it was me, you could bet they wouldn’t be excusing it. I’d be doing it because I like consumption, consumer durables and comfort. Not because I’m saving the world.

Only 100,000 pounds of greenhouse gas credits, though? That isn’t enough to offset the noxious emissions given off by the average self-important pompous asshat celebrity in a ten-minute public appearance. Alec Baldwin alone would need at least five times that amount.

The point seemed to be some variant of Le Chatelier’s principle, that the climate is self-stabilizing, and kept cool by rain patterns that increase when it would otherwise warm up, and nobody models that feedback which is actually dominant. Stabilization by rain patterns accounts for about 100 degrees F of cooling today aleady, so the way it changes is rather important, and not modelled.
Instead, models tend to drift (without it) to too hot or too cold, and only recently have they succeeded in getting models to balance on a knife’s edge sort of matching temperatures in the real world today – but balancing on a knife’s edge is not the actual dynamics of the atmosphere and so the models are, in spite of all the love and work spent on them, worthless in fact.
Rush wanted to go off into belief in God and Creation to refute global alarmism instead, because he couldn’t follow it.
Rush’s success is because he has a sense of humor and pokes fun at himself (the bigger-than-life persona is self-mocking but infuriates the left anyway), but he becomes unlistenable when he goes off on a moral kick deploring this or that. Then he’s no longer self-mocking and the entertainment goes to zero.
