Unfair! Unfair! Israel isn’t allowing itself to be slapped around:

A senior Hezbollah official said Tuesday the guerrillas did not expect Israel to react so strongly to its capture of two Israeli soldiers …

He said Hezbollah had expected “the usual, limited response” from Israel.

Poor Hezbollah. It’s tough when people don’t play by the rules.

    1. Palestinians were already complaining about Israel doing “all this over one soldier” before Hizb’Allah took a page from the Hamas mis-play book. They have no reason to complain.

You wanna know how you do it? Here’s how, they pull a knife, you pull a gun. He sends one of yours to the hospital, you send one of his to the morgue. That’s the Chicago way

    1. How about these Hezbollah guys!!

“He said Hezbollah captured the Israeli soldiers from a military area, but charged that Israelis had taken Hezbollah leaders from their homes at night.”

These guys now want to clock on and clock off.

    1. “the usual, limited response”

Much like our usual no response to acts of terrorism for the 30 or so years prior to 9-11. ‘Bout freaking time somebody learned the lesson.

    1. It’s always amusing to hear Arabs whine, as they invariably do, “Waaah, he hit me back.  Waaah.”

Don’t the Jews know that when the Master Race comes to kill them they are supposed to cry “oy, gevalt” and bare their throats for the knife?  They are not supposed to defend themselves and then, just to add injury to insult, win.  Some people don’t know their place.

And just in case there was any doubt about the second paragraph, (/sarcasm).  It’s sad that the world has become too crazy to satirize.

    1. It’s easy to be a bully when nobody faces you down.  Well, surprise.  Israel’s tired of the game and has decided to kick Scumbollah’s collective ass.  Since the Scummies picked the fight in the first place, they should just man up and quit crying about it.

    1. What Rules.
Kofi Annan has to learn that his UN “Rules of Engagement” are a joke.
Israel can’t see Red Crosses painted on ambulances nor can they see blue UN flags over observer posts. How about a third strike and wipe out a bit of “humanitarian” relief that all the softies in the world are organising. Muslim civilians are meant to be starved out and eat rats, not fed on humanitarian relief.
So, Kofi Annan, about time you learnt that if you are going to put troops in an area such as this, they must be empowered with the capacity to fight and defend themselves.

That means shooting at all and everyone regardless, be they Hezbollah, Jews or Yanks. How about arming them with a few surface to air missiles of their own. Otherwise you, Kofi Annan, are executing a death sentence on UN troops. If you aren’t prepared to do that, then pull them out and send them home. Let the combatants fight to the death.
So stop whingeing Annan and get real.
Leave the non-violent peace protests to the hippies and equip your soldiers with the means to carry out their task against all combatant regardless.
If anyone is concerned about the eyesight of Israeli guided missile launchers and pilots, then the Yanks had worse eyesight during the Vietnam War and just bombed everything in sight anyway.

    1. MarshallD — Well, since the Muzzies used UN ambulances to transport MANPAD SAMS’s, and UN uniforms to ambush and kidnap Israeli soldiers, while “real” UN “peacekeepers” are bribed to stand by and watch, I’d say the Israelis are aiming very clearly indeed.

#4 Dammit you beat me to it.  Only problem is, what if Iran get nukes before Israel can clean them up?

Kofi, Kofi, Kofi, why dont you just retire and put your much more relaxed brother Decaf into the job, he cant do any worse.

    1. So I guess Israel should be required to fire wildly into the air instead of aiming and to kill about 300 of their own to make this a “proportional” war?

It’s amazing how the anti-US-Israel bloc comes up with these instant catch phrases that are, frankly, insane.

    1. There is talk of Israel handing over the shebaa farms, in return for a hizbollah withdrawal beyond the litani river, if this comes off it will be the third israeli withdrawal in six years, if that happens expect the iranians to send bigger and longer ranged rockets, and start the whole thing again in a couple of years. There two previous withdrawals didnt win them any goodwill so why will another one, the arabs play every one as a great victory and then pick up where they left off, is it any wonder the mullahs think there on to a winner.

    1. My guess is that this will go on for another 10 days, if the Israelis can flush out nearly every rocket and tunnel, and capture say 300 Hez. in that time.
Then the usual equation of human worth will play out – 2 live Israelis are worth say 200 Hez [some kept in hock for later contingencies.] The luckier Hez will go to home to no home in most cases, as they richly deserve, but living to fight another year..
People seem to forget that the Hez. are not entitled to the Geneva Convention rules any more than David Hicks is.
As Walid Jumblatt says, they don’t recognise Lebanon’s government either!

    1. It is about time some of the contributors of remarks on this column did a period of conscription and overseas service under rules of engagement where both hands are tied behind their backs- like even in little itzy bitzy East Timor where Australian troops were regarded as a joke and had to call in police force with their experience at handling mass wankers.

UN troops have both hands tied behind their backs by idiots like Annan and his UN.

They might as well hold up big signs which say “Shoot me. I’m UN.”

      No more crap like this.
Any UN peacekeeping force must be properly equipped and capable of defending themselves. That means shooting at whoever is shooting at them. And they must be given the means to do so with armament matching the combatants between whom they are placed.
The responsibility for the deaths of the four UN troops lies not with the Israelis who “accidentally” aimed their laser at their post in order to guide a missile in, but with Annan.
He ordered their death sentence and he must act like a real man and wear the consequences.

Scumballah should have kept up their subscription to the New York Al-Jazeera Times. That’s what you get for spending the household money on Iranain missiles.
