Not sure how multiculturalism works? Let Kofi Annan explain:
The offensive caricatures of the Prophet Muhammad were first published in a European country which has recently acquired a significant Muslim population, and is not yet sure how to adjust to it.
(Via LGF)
Uhhh – Koffee, you’d better hope Europe doesn’t “adjust” to a population among them they’ve decided they don’t want. They’ve had some experience with doing exactly that in the recent past – and it wasn’t pretty.
Just sayin’, ‘s all.

Those selfish Danes, refusing to live under a foreign culture in their own country, is basically what Latte is calling for! Perhaps if they went the egalitarian way that Nigeria is going, Short Black (Coffee junior) can start importing cars there?

- There are still huge riots being stirred up in Pakistan over this same issue. I suppose it gives them something to do, keeps them on the streets!
I would like to know why the mob demonstrating in front of the Danish embassy in Melbourne the other day were waving OUR flag. We have no quarrel with the Danes, after all one of us married one of them a while back.
We like Danish.
I read Kofi’s speech—egads, the “Alliance of Civilizations”? Please, it’s another yak-fest and international group hug, the United Nations by a different name, and with even less expectations.

In other words, those who’ve become too accustomed to individual freedom of thought and expression haven’t come to terms with this “submission” thing.

Kofee and the Danes need a Peter Costello: if you don’t like free love, high taxes, and bitter cold then you might be better off in Iran or Saudi Arabia.
In today’s The Age John Howard advises Muslims on dress appropriate for Australia:
“I don’t mind the headscarf but it’s really the whole outfit, I think most Australians would find it confronting,” Mr Howard told Southern Cross Broadcasting…
“I don’t believe that you should ban wearing headscarfs but I do think the full garb is confronting and that is how most people feel.
“Now, that is not meant disrespectfully to Muslims because most Muslim women, a great majority of them in Australia, don’t even wear headscarfs and very few of them wear the full garb.”
I don’t see the full garb all that often in Melbourne – occasionally around Preston and also Flemington, where Sudanese Muslims (refugees) sometimes wear it. The men always have headgear as well.
And finally a couple of prescient extracts –
Those whom the gods wish to destroy, they first make mad. We must be mad, literally mad, as a nation to be permitting the annual inflow of some 50,000 dependants, who are for the most part the material of the future growth of the immigrant-descended population. It is like watching a nation busily engaged in heaping up its own funeral pyre. So insane are we that we actually permit unmarried persons to immigrate for the purpose of founding a family with spouses and fiancés whom they have never seen. Let no one suppose that the flow of dependants will automatically tail off…
The other dangerous delusion from which those who are wilfully or otherwise blind to realities suffer, is summed up in the word “integration”. To be integrated into a population means to become for all practical purposes indistinguishable from its other members. Now, at all times, where there are marked physical differences, especially of colour, integration is difficult though, over a period, not impossible. There are among the Commonwealth immigrants who have come to live here in the last 15 years many thousands whose wish and purpose is to be integrated and whose every thought and endeavour is bent in that direction. But to imagine that such a thing enters the heads of a great and growing majority of immigrants and their descendants is a ludicrous misconception, and a dangerous one…
“The (ethnic grouping) communities’ campaign to maintain customs inappropriate in Britain is much to be regretted. Working in Britain, particularly in the public services, they should be prepared to accept the terms and conditions of their employment. To claim special communal rights (or should they say rites?) leads to a dangerous fragmentation within society. This communalism is a canker; whether practised by one colour or another it is to be strongly condemned.”
As I look ahead, I am filled with foreboding; like the Roman, I seem to see “the River Tiber foaming with much blood”. That tragic and intractable phenomenon which we watch with horror on the other side of the Atlantic but which there is interwoven with the history and existence of the States itself, is coming upon us here by our own volition and our own neglect.
No prizes for guessing who the author was – and he was vilified and all but destroyed for this piece. But he was right, dead right, 38 years ago.

#7 Egads indeed! What a mind-numbingly stupid moniker for an organisation. “What do you wish to be when you grow up son – an engine driver perhaps?” – “No, I wish to be a member of a high level group for the alliance of civilizations”. “Er..good boy”
And as usual with these sort of groups, Kofi points out, “We need to develop a language that will carry them (lofty ideals)”. No doubt in constructing this language they will borrow heavily from the current race relations industry’s lexicon. Not English, French or Urdu mind you, they need to construct a new one. Should be a nice little earner for whoever has to do it. Perhaps they should do it in Danish.

Some days I just want to go follow in the footsteps of Prince Leonard of the Hutt River Province, create my own kingdom, and forget about the rest of the world. Then I realize that I would probably create a diplomatic incident within a week and wind up declaring war on someone.

When my parents and grandparents came to Australia it was to find a safer home. They had experienced two world wars and were not wanting to go through a third. The language and culture were different but it was clear that my parents and grandparents came here to become Australians.
It was always clear who was joining who. Kofi now thinks its the other way round.

The co-sponsors have already pledged substantial initial contributions to a Trust Fund set up to finance the initiative
Sub-header reads:
UN Autocrats Sucker Euro Multiculti Mush-Heads for Millionth Time.
No 7 , I’m all for an “Alliance of Civilizations” – it would be like the UN but would only admit Civilised nations wouldn’t it?
I could live with that. The only catch is defining “civilization”. There are some parts of California that would be specifically excluded under any definition.
Which, come to think of it, is a good idea as well.

There is no adjustment possible only submission And the Danes who refused to adjust to Nazism are doing the same today.

Koffee – I am trying to prepared to be adjusted – the suspence is hard to take. When will it happen. Do I get any virgins?
In the Silly today, a report of a meeting of the PM’s Muslim advisory Committee.
Andrew Robb, now Parliamentary Secretary for Immigration Minister Amanda Vanstone is attending.
He is advocating that..
specific employment programs for young, jobless Muslims were needed to ensure religious extremism did not take hold in Australia
– great – more welfare!
and…
their message really to me was that language is important and they have felt that some of the things said on both sides of the parliament – they made that point very clearly – they felt could have been better put.
Yeah – sure – like the posters I have seen all over the global press along the lines of
Kill those who say Islam is not a Religion of peace!!
- … not yet sure how to adjust to it?
We welcome (nudge, nudge, wink wink) all followers of he who cannot be drawn or represented (police be upon them), and who advocate the one way street change of all western countries into Islamic Communities (filled with Muslims who do not advocate Sharia Law, presumably), and who resent any statement that they do not fit in, or that they should.
So far we have, with their connivance, created a series of dark jokes which only Milosevic can appreciate.
- Slightly off thread, but compare Kofi’s grovelling with Howard’s latest comment on the ‘children overboard’ saga, that incident that according to the lefties was supposed to destroy his career. Howard says, while they may not have thrown thier kids over board, “they irresponsibly sank the damn boat, which put their children in the water”.
Perhaps we should nominate JWH to take over from Kofi at the end of the year. This would put some steel into the UN and give Costello a go.Posted by AlphaMikeFoxtrot on 2006 02 27 at 05:58 AM • permalink
Kofi refers to the “offensive cartoons”. Surely he means the “offending cartoons”? It’s an important distinction.

OK Koffee – I think that I have been adjusted now – I have all these strange urges….
…in the morning I am going to instruct my 16 year old daughter to wear a dark blue sheet to school with a slit for her eyes – it should look really cool. If that does not work – the she will have to quit school. Its up to Allah.
.. I will also ask my wife to resign from her job effective immediatley – maybe we can live on my far lower salary – but Allah (whoever he is) will provide.
.. I suddenly have an urge to send money to Ussama Bin Laden – surely this cannot be right ? – but then I am being adjusted by Koffee O-Nun so it must be OK.
.. Sorry – no I don’t have to send money – he will send me money – well that’s easier to take. I would not want to be in OSB’s debyt would I?.. Sorry Fido – you don’t fit in – its off to the vet for you to be put down. I am not sure about the virgin thing for you though – you are one already – and although a matyra, you are still only a dog.
.. Jenni – I know that you are my sister – but it is adultery – let me read the regulations about stone size, its so they don’t hurt so much – I promise I won’t throw anything…
The UN (except for the World Bank which, let’s face it, does’t come anywhere close to the corrupt cesspool that is most of the rest of the UN bodies) serves little global purpose except as a legitimizer of despots, racists, homophobes and greedy SOBs (Mugabe, anyone?).
The real surprise about Mr Annan’s statement is that it has provoked surprise…it’s standard procedure by the UN, much like the biggest bashers of the US being highly paid “experts” who live there and/or derive their wealth from donors. Anyway…enough of my rant. I’m having a slice of Danish cheese…mmm…tasty!

I’m sure their “brain power” is better put to use solving the cartoon problem, than dealing with their own rape issues in Africa. Perahps the UN uniform should include kneepads. We wouldn’t want them wearing the knees out of their Armani trousers with all of this endless Muslim ass-kissing. How long before Europe falls?
#50 I agree, except it’s more leaders and their cronies “trying to rob themselves to wealth” than “countries”. It’s also not a secret that a lot of normal average people in conflict countries have more to fear from UN peacekeepers than their own insane mob

Latte dog whistling to Western media elites to brain wash the young,
And this is where we look to you, the High-Level Group, for help….We need to engage in dialogue not only scholars, or diplomats or politicians, but also artists, entertainers, sports champions – people who command respect and attention right across society, and especially among young people, because it is very important to reach young people before their ideas and attitudes have fully crystallised.
Years ago the left would have at least insisted on a token reference to the working class – not anymore. Talk to the elites, adjust the masses!

I don’t think masturbation is a factor, but the extremists definitely have a psycho-sexual disorder of some kind. The male psyche can get out of control unless it’s grounded, usually by a female psyche (or by an adult male framework, as you find in a regular professional army). Left to themselves young men are vulnerable to all sorts of dangerous manipulation.
As mentioned in The Clash of Civilizations one of a nation’s most important duties is to figure out what to do with its young men. In this endeavor many nations in the Middle East have failed miserably, leaving their young men vulnerable to control by rougue Imams and other terrorists.

Well, that’s the Danes for you. First they couldn’t adjust to handing their Jews over to the Nazis and now they can’t adjust to handing their country over to the Islamofascists. Such crass insensitivity.
I only skimmed the full remarks. Did he ever get around to condemning the violent reaction to the “offense” perpetrated by those unadjusted cartoonists? If so I missed it but like I said I just skimmed. This did jump out at me though:
That message must say that free speech involves listening as well as talking.
Well, actually, Kofi, I’m guarenteed my right of free expression not that you’ll listen to it. Get it?

The Arab League on Monday described the Prophet Mohammed cartoons as part of a “battle against Islam” rather than a symptom of conflict among civilisations, and urged Arab parliamentarians to put pressure on the UN to come up with a “strict solution to the problem”.
“I don’t think the issue pertains to inter-civilisation conflict. We have to mention the issue in its real perspective, it is a battle against Islam,” Arab League Secretary General Amr Musa said. urge you to send a message to the UN that it should address this issue in a strict manner so that we can deal with each other on issues that exclude double standards,” he said.
Islam=civilisation?

I tried to tell Karl putting Kofi at the UN was a bad idea, but there’s no arguing with the Boss. I don’t know what he was thinking. Well, sometimes I do because I steal glances at his working papers while I’m dusting. You guys would be amazed at what is on the docket. At the risk of getting in serious trouble (looks around furtively) well there’s the plan to fill the Grand Canyon with all the empty water bottles for one. When I say serious trouble, well last time it was just a book report on Milton Friedman. But the time before that I had to write “Karl Marx is a flatulating butthead” on the board a thousand times with Hayek’s “Road to Serfdom” duct taped to my forehead. I mean, you guys have it easy over in the Death Cult “military wing”. Polishing helicopters. Pshaw. You should try a couple days in the political wing sometime. Oops. Gotta go… (sneaks off)

A political system in which political power is monopolized by a party, group, or individual that governs according to religious principles.
Obviously, the mass migrant Islamic intake hasn’t realised freedom of speech and psychological deprogramming hasn’t come into effect in detentions centres here as of yet.
