Under cover of widespread indifference, respected tacher and litigation enthusiast Nick Dyrenfürgle has modestly deleted his finest post.
UPDATE. Antony Loewenstein, another spelling-challenged university type, is currently hosting a sensitive debate on matters recent and historical:
Addamo: I think the sudden affection the right has discovered for Israel (formerly a left cuase) is fueled by the fact that Israel is in a positino to kill Arabs, whcih makes them a valuable resource.
In teh absence of the animosity the right has for arabs and Muslims, I suspect that Israel and jews woud find themslevss at the poity end of the stick again.
Thanks for poiting that out, Addamo. Good luck with the 12-step program.
Adam: Once I heard my University lecturer who said “The biggest world disaster ever is Israel, and there will nothing and what we see today is just the beginning of Israel’s ending”. I have to admit before I was not sure about his comments but now I can see what he really meant.
You can? Even the bit about “and there will nothing”? More from Adam, he of the solitary lecturer:
Adam: people who disagree with the holocaust get put in jail
So how does freedom of speech fit in with this?
To me it seems as if they are hiding something!
Sneaky Jews!
Addamo: I believe Zundel (or what is Irving) who challenged not whether the Holocaust happened, but the official count of the victims, was even prevented from mentioning in court that the original commemorative plaque at Auschwitz stated that 4 million had been killed there. The plaque has since been changed to reflect that only 1.5 million had actually been killed there.
The argument was that in spite of the revised number, the historical total number of victims remained unchanged at 6 million. Yet in spite of this fact (i.e. the plaque being revised) he was not allowed to enter this into court as evidence. Pretty Orwellian stuff.
Pretty Holocaust revisionist stuff, too. At which point this fellow weighs in:
M.Mayes: I can see the officials contemplating the plaque revision now, “hmm well we know that 4 million werent killed there now, so we have to lower it, but we couldnt possibly say that it was any less than 1 million otherwise it might not get seen as severe anymore”
Nice crowd Ant’s attracting. What kind of idiot would ever have compared him to Frederick Töben?
- What? Destroyed the evidence in his litigation against you? Does this mean the lawsuit is… um… dropped?Posted by RebeccaH on 2006 07 28 at 11:57 AM • permalink
- Addamo (a/k/a/ Abdullah Mohammed)! That’s our boy! “Israel is in a positino (sic) to kill Arabs”. Well, I’m kinda in an all-fired-up “positino” to LMAO at your spelling, dude! Your “ideas”, on the other hand, are not amusing at all. Nor are the notions of your correspondents, Adam (“no ‘mo”) and the Amazin’ M.Mayes. Why is it, I wonder, that some people who (a) strongly oppose zionism, also feel the need to (b) deride the scope of the Holocaust? And then (c) bleat about being called anti-semitic? Guess I’ll never know until some kindly university lecturer spells it out for me.
- From memory, the 6 million quoted by most was derived by estimating the number of European Jews before the war and the count after the war. After taking in the natural increase that should have occured they found 6 million missing. As good a way as any and as accurate as any other historical fact. Since it is now so important to Jews and others, it may as well stand without further review. Especially by The aformentioned cockroaches.
Adam: So if the Arabs hate the Jew’s so much then what is Israel still doing there? Do they not want to move to a different part of the world far away from the Arabs? The reality is that Israel does not care about public opinion from around the world and it does what it wants much thanks to USA for its total commitment and support. Israel is also aware that if that all the hatred from the Arabs is because of its own doing. The world witnesses the birth of another holocaust but the difference is from the last, that the Arab victims over centuries have been painted and branded as terrorists; even their children and women are not spared. With the help of US and UK this holocaust is being played down and hidden from the world. This conflict today is just a glimpse of the new holocaust but over years the Palestinians have been squeezed into the biggest concentration camp in Palestine the world has ever seen. But the world remains silent as the bully and its big brother (US) are patrolling the playground.
Yeah, Jews, whatsamatter with you? If you don’t like that hostile neighborhood you live in, why doncha just move already?
You know, it’s really quite impossible to rationally debate someone who lives only inside his own head.

Nor are the notions of your correspondents, Adam (“no ‘mo”) and the Amazin’ M.Mayes.
very interesting paco, you have both managed to make a post that poses no arguement what-so-ever at the same time as contesting 3 peoples arguements on another blog, again posing no arguement as such to prove your point…
for those of you who may read anything on loewensteins blog you might find the context in which this discussion is, well discussed, is the hypothetically intellectual idea that the holocaust has its discrepencies about it (not that it is necessarily true, or untrue) but that if to quote lmassie “As good a way as any and as accurate as any other historical fact.” there would be no need to jail anyone (or give gag orders to anyone) carryin opinions refuting “historical fact” and therefore such actions could be labelled suspicious (again not passing judgement on the truthfullness of the holocaust, with respect to any who died or knew those who died during WWII)
As for Kyda Sylvester, try getting into the heads of those who you argue with rather than taking for granted limited facts that are provided to you by bloggers and assuming they live inside their heads, Ill assume you never read the context in which these comments were all written.
- Wasn’t Assamo (sp?) the geography challenged wart who thought Gaza was in Iraq? Now we can understand his confusion. Since he is spelling challenged, he must also be reading challenged. Let me give you some advice Assamo in a language you might understand: yuo need to feind a better tacher to tach yu the fine poits of the spell craft, and, howe to put two thouts together. Otherwise, yo will surly find yourseless at the potty end of the stick again.
- The thing about the Aschwitz plaque is that no Jewish or Western historian ever claimed 4 million dies there. The number came form teh communists in order to (i) make the communist regime look like the Berkley City Council compared to the Nazis and (ii) to hide the deaths for which the communists were responsible. Hence, there was no reason to reduce the 6 million number because the people who estimated at number never took the communist number seriously.
- All this anti jew stuff has got to be anti semitism, no other explanation is plausible, all these people obsess about is the jews, all day and everyday, as with hitler so goes the left, its the jews they want to kill today, but the west the day after, im sure the muslim people of the world must laugh long and hard at the stupid westerners doing for them what they wouldnt dream of doing for anyone else, do the addamos of this world realy think they would live in perfect peace and harmony with muslims?, be careful what you wish for lefty because all your commie dreams turn out to be nightmares.
- Room 237,
You don’t get it: The Conspiracy is always monolithic. There’s only one Them.
So if two people disagree, that doesn’t mean two people are disagreeing; instead, it proves that Them can’t keep Their story straight.

- “people who disagree with the holocaust get put in jail”
Well, he’s right. Jews widely disagreed with the Holocaust and were put in jail for that. Okay, concentration camps actually.
Seriously, it must be an effort to Addamo to come across as reasonably well-spoken on this site. Those excerpts from Ant’s blog make both him and Adam sound like 5-year olds. It’s not so much that what they’re saying is stupid, it’s actually downright incomprehensible.
- From Mayes (sp?) find the context in which this discussion is, well discussed, is the hypothetically intellectual idea… What in hell is an “hypothetically intellectual idea”? Don’t all ideas come from the intellect? Please give an example of an idea that is not hypothetical, maybe, perhaps Einstein’s original hypothisis of the constancy of the speed of light?I guess we have come to the potty end of the stick here. I’ve graded many a graduate and undergraduate term paper, but never encountered such a mishmash of meaningless words twisted into a “hypothetical” knot.
- Just out of curiousity I googled “debunking Holocaust denial” and found a reference to French Trotskyite Paul Rassinier, who is one of the founder of this particular loathsome school of historical revisionism (see this link for background). If you google Rassinier himself you get links to all sorts of disgustingly interesting sites-including a couple of Islamist nutters.
Rassinier’s theory: the Holocaust “myth” is part of a “Zionist conspiracy” to get billions in reparations.
Hey-I said there was a long lefty tradition at work here.
Adam: people who disagree with the holocaust get put in jail
So how does freedom of speech fit in with this?
To me it seems as if they are hiding something!
Oh no, more of that “they’re quashing our dissent” shit. As I understand it, no country placed a ban on Irving’s ardent denial of the Holocaust except for Austria and Germany which had very good reasons to prevent the discussion from even arising. And yet Irving purposely travelled to Austria in an attempt to push the issue and make himself more notable in the process. He has only himself to blame for his miscalculation.
In any other country, Irving, Addammo or any of their fellow travellers can spout off racist statements and deny historical abuses to certain groups of people as much as they want. The rest of us can ignore them in turn.

- These maniacs keep referring to jail sentences and gag orders regarding revisionist theories of the Holocaust. In what countries are these occurring? The FRG? If so, then perhaps your grasp of both history and the formulation of law is shaky. The FRG does have laws on the books forbidding the pandering of Holocaust denial, AND other laws forbidding the display of Nazi symbols, a ban which includes decals in model aircraft kits. Since there is much regarding this subject that you don’t seem to grasp, please note that a sovereign nation has a right to pass laws and enforce them. If you don’t like them, then you’re free (in most countries) to petition them to get them changed.
The only legal action that I’m aware of that occurred in America was a civil suit brought by a person claiming the ‘award’ posted by one of your kindred spirits who espoused Holocaust denial, for anyone who ‘provided proof that the Holocaust actually happened’. The plaintiff was successful in obtaining a judgement. Does anyone have the details?
Is this what you’re referring to?
- very interesting paco, you have both managed to make a post that poses no arguement what-so-ever at the same time as contesting 3 peoples arguements on another blog, again posing no arguement as such to prove your point…
I would have thought that my implicit “arguement” (sic)- to wit, that it is morally obtuse to apply a sort of sliding scale of wickedness to genocide based on the absolute number of people killed – was obvious. Further, I was making the point that holocaust denial almost inevitably seems to be found waltzing about with anti-Israel ranting.
For me, anything less than a million dead is just boring, who cares.
indeed the worlds attention would not be so much on the holocaust if only 1 million died, curious as to debate essentially being legally banned on the matter though dont you think? (especially if it is hard historical, uncontestable fact, what would any government have to fear from a nutjob with a conspiracy theory? why lock him up?)
Don’t all ideas come from the intellect?
yes, although some from the intellectually gifted and others from morons,
how is it so hard to grasp stats? simply put the hypothetical idea of the holocaust not existing (again not saying whether it does or does not) and rather it being a fabrication to suit the needs of others (jews, now i am by no means a jew hater nor do i deny the holocaust) is an intellectual theory that people have been jailed for proposing.
or is that too hard for you to grasp?
do the addamos of this world realy think they would live in perfect peace and harmony with muslims?
dont crowd themn and they wont crowd us. Islam is currently at the same stage that catholocism was at during the crusades, all infidels must die, given time they will evolve past that and be able to merge with democratic societies quite nicely.
Well, he’s right. Jews widely disagreed with the Holocaust and were put in jail for that. Okay, concentration camps actually.
congradulations PW on completely missing the point, something common amongst far right supporters (and far left supporters too).
Thank you for clearing that up, Mayes.
If you want to go to sleep thinking to yourself “man i showed him” go for your life, who am i to stop you. but just for arguements sake maybe next time you should pose a point of view.
including a couple of Islamist nutters.
islamist and communist nutters are disgusting, as are hardcore capitalist nutters (what ever happened to moderate capitalism and moderate democracy)
no country placed a ban on Irving’s ardent denial of the Holocaust except for Austria and Germany
who happened to jail him, which mind you is exactly what my post said… get down off your moral high horse and explain to me again what your point was.
Maybe Addamo should query Google for all his future spelling needs. Searching for “positino” results in a bunch of random hits and the helpful hint:
Did you mean: position
Googlebot: Effortlessly outsmarting anti-semites since 2006!
PW if all you can do is nitpick at spelling i question your opinions worth to begin with.
These maniacs keep referring to jail sentences and gag orders regarding revisionist theories of the Holocaust. In what countries are these occurring? The FRG?
indeed, then how would you explain an australian supreme court gag order on much the same issue? pretty sure australia has no laws regarding such an issue.
genocide based on the absolute number of people killed – was obvious.
it is by no means limited to the number of people killed during the holocaust, and once again your point is fair void given that as the person who initiated the discussion on loewensteins blog i made point of stating from my first post that i dont think the holocaust never existed, so your arguing it with me seems somewhat pointless.
- Why doesn’t Ant just slit his throat and put us all out of his misery. Why does he obsess with justifying his suicide. Is he interested in taking others with him? He does provide the small service of attracting the flies to his corruption, but not enough to justify having to put up with him.
Come to think of it, there are too many people the above applies to.
And don’t try to tell me that he doesn’t know it’s suicide. He has evaded the knowledge, but he wouldn’t be attempting to justify the annulling of his identity had he never known. He offers no valid arguement, nor even a reasoned polemic for his notions, so his claim of merely having a difference of opinion is bogus. He offers no moral premise on which to base his righteousness. He takes it for granted that the reader or listener requires nothing more than for his words to fall upon their passive brains and . . . .
I really must stop giving my time to thinking about idiots. It always ends the same way.
- if all you can do is nitpick at spelling i question your opinions worth to begin with.
It’s not all I can do, it’s all I choose to do when encountering noted morons like Addamo. As for you, perhaps you could have somebody repair your shift key, as persistent refusal to follow the generally agreed-upon rules of orthography is generally the calling card of a crackpot. Well, so are most of your posted opinions, but the orthography issue tends to be the canary in the coal mine, and a pretty accurate one at that.
- Oh, and as for the other part of your incredibly long-winded post that addressed me:
congradulations PW on completely missing the point
I didn’t miss it, you idiot, I chose to make a mockery of him and his ham-handed attempt at denying the holocaust by couching it as a “free speech” issue.
Seriously, run along now, kiddo…you’re so outclassed here on this blog, and I’m saying that as somebody who’s going to be the least of your intellectual worries if you keep up the idiocy spew.
ofcourse they are, but dont be naive as to think that Israel is not responsible for any of the violence either
Yeah! I mean, one of the prisoners that Hezbollah wants released shot a father in front of his four-year-old daughter, then bashed the girl’s skull in with a rifle butt, while the mother accidentally smothered her two-year-old daughter trying to keep her quiet while they hid (the woman tells her story in Best of the Web yesterday.) And they’ve launched 1500 rockets indiscriminately into Israel. And what do the Israelis do? They respond with violence! Can you believe it! They accidentally kill civilians who Hezbollah are illegally hiding behind, which is totally the same morally as smashing a four-year-old girl’s head in with a rifle butt. I mean, it’s morally equivalent.
Right on, Mayes! Your moral judgment is unimpeachable (or umnipeachabal, as you and your brilliant Antonian colleagues might say.)
- And since I doubt “M.Mayes” understands what I mean by “ham-handed attempt at denying the holocaust” unless I write it out in the blog equivalent of crayon, let’s do exactly that. So here, to “wit”, is Adam again, line by line:
people who disagree with the holocaust get put in jail
No problem with him saying that, factually correct or not. Well, it’s still an idiotic way to phrase his argument, but let’s humour him and you.
So how does freedom of speech fit in with this?
Hallelujah, something resembling an actual point, made in language above the level of the average second-grader.
To me it seems as if they are hiding something!
Now, that is the part that made me mock him. He’s implying that holocaust denial must have been made illegal because it’s accurate and that this fact must be suppressed. That kind of nuttery is grounds for immediate ridicule, as far as I’m concerned.
- #38 Dave S.
I feel compelled to point out that M.Mayes didn’t even manage to comprehend rhardin’s sarcastic post:
… it was explained that the current violence began when Israel retaliated for a cross-border raid.
They do seem to be responsible for quite a lot of violence.
“They” obviously referred to the Israelis, yet M.Mayes responded as though the pronoun referred to well, somebody else, as in:
ofcourse they are, but dont be naive as to think that Israel is not responsible for any of the violence either
Islam is currently at the same stage that catholocism was at during the crusades, all infidels must die, given time they will evolve past that and be able to merge with democratic societies quite nicely.
So all we need to do is hang on for four or five centuries while Islam goes through its Reformation and Enlightenment and everything will be fine?
News for you, buster: Islam is actually regressing. There is no reason at all to think that, left alone, the Islamic world will become a pluralist civilisation. And unless it becomes pluralist, it cannot join the rest of the world.

Your University lecturer, must have been Mahmoud Ahmadinejad.
- Ten years ago I went on a tour of Poland, Slovakia and Hungary with a university trip. One of the places we went was Auschwitz and our guide was a retired Polish teacher named Stanislaw Macksa who had been in one of the labor camps as a teenager. He recommended the book KL Auschwitz as seen by the SS which is a collection of the rememberances of the camp commandant, a guard and one of the camp doctors.
The guard is recalcitrant, the doctor is triumphant and the commandant-Rudolf Hoss-simply relates many of the details of administration and management-including how to manage the murder of huge numbers and the administration of disposing of their bodies-as he awaits execution.
But now I am told that each of these men (including Macksa-who related the facts of the Holocaust to our group personally) were either mistaken or lying. That the Holocaust was exaggerated and part of a “Zionist conspiracy” to defraud Germany out of billions and as one of the main reasons for the establishment of Israel.
You’ll forgive me if I take their word for it.

You either suffer an affliction such as cerebral palsy, for which I truly feel sorry, OR you are a complete, total, unmitigated idiot, for which I feel even more sorrow.
While sorrowful (yeah, I tear up when I see an individual with, cerebral palsy) as to why this affliction still exists, in this modern world. I know deep down, that this individual is giving all one can give, in making that existence, bearable. Sad as it is. That is all one can ask of themselves, OR others.
On the other hand, a complete, total, unmitigated idiot has given nothing, not to themselves, nor to anyone or anything else.
One is a fighter and knows it, the other a coward and knows it.
- As with the Iraq war we have had to listen to pundit after pundit pointing out that Israel is losing.
If so then why would Hizbollah even be thinking about disarming. of course it will be a fake laying down of arms, but maybe this time Kofi and the good ‘ol boys of Lebanon would actually try.
“Has Hizbullah agreed to disarm? That’s what Elaph (Arabic) is now claiming. Hizbullah was reportedly concerned about a UN resolution under chapter 7 that would disarm it by force if necessary. Nabih Berri, Elaph claims, knew about Siniora’s plan and agreed to it before the Rome trip, leaving Hizbullah without a political cover in the country. Elaph said Hizbullah chose the lesser of two evils and went with the Siniora plan, which would lead to its peaceful disarmament. “
To me it seems as if they are hiding something!

Your comment about the world’s attention on the Holocaust is an interesting one. Now just WHO is interested so much in the Holocaust? Iran is far a start. You are. See a thread yet?
Now, maybe you are correct that the world’s attention would be substantially less if the figure were below 1 million. So I wonder if you can make any inferences from this and explain why you and your fellow-travellers spend 24/7 obssessing over the Palestinians? After all, over the past 60 years their casualty numbers would only be in the tens of thousands and most of those at the hands of other Muslims.
M.Mayes, just WHY are you so obssessed with the Holocaust and the Palestinians?

Now, that is the part that made me mock him. He’s implying that holocaust denial must have been made illegal because it’s accurate and that this fact must be suppressed.
denial by a handful of people of the holocaust is hardly suppressing the truth, whilst gag orders and jail terms on the other hand is needlessly suppressing the opinion of someone (in these cases, historians) isnt suppressing the truth but it is suppressing someones opinion (hence where free speach comes into it, given that you are a moron ill let you in on a secret, freedom of speech extends further than those saying the things you agree with)
…which whilst detestable has nothing to do with Israel…
The child in question was an Israeli citizen on Israeli soil.
How’s that for a response that doesn’t involve snickering at your poor grammatical and writing skills? A simple error correction….which completely trivializes your entire comment, and demonstrates your inability to grasp the obvious.
Or possibly your ability to reject reality. That would depend on how generous one feels at the time.

ah i see you also nitpick at typo’s and computer induced grammatic errors, funnily enough though my shift key likes to take the liberty of pasting whatever i last copied whenever i hold it in for more than a second, whats your excuse for being an ignorant moron?Wonderful! We have another live one, people. Gee, I wish we could bottle sprays like that.
computer induced grammatic errors
How the heck does a computer induce grammatic (or even grammatical) errors? I gather from this that Mayes is saying it is a spambot and not an actual person. Or else the errors are gin induced, rather than computer induced. Or doesn’t Mayes know the difference between grammar and punctuation?funnily enough though my shift key likes to take the liberty of pasting whatever i last copied whenever i hold it in for more than a second,
Yeah, that’s so funny. But what does your keyboard’s left shift key do?Now Andrea, you just have to promise. No banning this one at least for a while, OK?

- M.Mayes
euphamism, Is that a perfectly cured ‘country ham’?
And whilst I do make spelling errors, You, Addumbo, would never win a Spelling C (ummm, just for your edification, most call them Spelling B’s) and Adam could never utter, OR type a cognizant, coherent thought, on Jews, Israel and probably not much else.
Oh, con–drag-dulations?
con
Did you really mean to type that?
Did you mean, if you really meant that typing…A. con (against), B. con (felon), C. con (swindle).
drag
Did you really mean to type that?
Did you mean, if you really meant that typing…A. drag (pull), B. drag (lag), C. drag (tiresome), D. drag (puff), E. drag (street), F. drag (clothing characteristic).
- Oh, and when you put forward an idea or opinion worthy of debate, in a form comprehensible by readers of English, I am certain you will find that a spelling mistake here and there will go largely unnoticed (or at least unmentioned).
Good luck with that, eh?

I hope you’re not trying to insinuate that there was something wrong with the Crusades, an attempt to regain territory from Muslim imperialist conquerors.
yes the crusades were simply a bid to take territory from evil muslims, are you seriously that ignorant? nothing of the millions killed and villages burnt because they didnt believe in the same god?
So all we need to do is hang on for four or five centuries while Islam goes through its Reformation and Enlightenment and everything will be fine?
they had to sit through the catholics doing it, that aside though if the west stayed out of the middle east then they would be left to evolve and it wouldnt affect us, had they tried to kill us then we can easily defend ourselves.
ill let you in on a secret, freedom of speech extends further than those saying the things you agree with
Actually, if you bothered reading this blog, you’ll find most people here largely agree with that.
It’s just that this is not pandemic, as you seem to believe. Only a few democratic nations actively suppress free speech, and then only highly selectively. They either do that by using “hate speech” laws, or court ordered gag orders for trials or to enforce laws.
“Hate speech” laws are generally referred to as “politically correct speech”, and the enforcement tends to lean in the favor of nominal minorities. Britain, for example, does so routinely and unfairly. I recall Canada indulging in that, and in some very limited cases, in Australia. Germany, more so.
Of course, in your rants, with incessant battles with computer hardware and software on the side, you have missed this point. Which merely demonstrates your low level of cognitive skills.
And that’s not an ad hominem attack. It’s a simple observation, Mayes.

And unless it becomes pluralist, it cannot join the rest of the world.
Excellent work, I agree with you wholeheartedly on that one (i am by no means an islam supporter, i was at cronulla in peaceful objection to muslim’s fucking up our country).
the problem is that they have been widely pushed into our society, they arent ready for a pluralist society yet unfortunately, forcing it on them is only going to create war, more terrorists and push them further away from democracy

interesting, in 10 hours you and your friends here have produced a good 50 responses all of which are immature attacks on mine and addamo’s person (including your pathetic attempt at debating by having a go at spelling and grammar) your are right i am outclassed here, way out of your class in particular, you fit in so well here.
Did you deliberately miss this #53?
- Mayes, if you wonder why we make fun of your…. well everything really.
Not sure if you are in UK, Oz, USA or wherever. But imagine John Kerry or Mark Latham standing up last election and making a “serious and considered” speech about exiting Iraq. In presenting the speeches, they are wearing big red noses, have a flagon of cheap wine in one hand and have their fly undone with, er, something hanging out. Do you think anyone would feel the need to rebut what they were saying?
Mate, straighten up your act and we may be able to focus on what you are saying, not at the spectacle you make of yourself.

Bzzt. Wrong in every respect.
The Muslims did not sit aside while Christianity was developing into a modern, peaceful, pluralist society. Rather, they invaded the Near East, northern Africa, northern India, Turkey, eastern Europe, Sicily, Spain, France, Italy – going so far as to loot the Vatican at one point.
that aside though if the west stayed out of the middle east then they would be left to evolve and it wouldnt affect us
Apart from them blowing up planes, office buildings, trains and night clubs, murdering school children by the hundreds… It wouldn’t affect us apart from all the dead people. That’s what you’re saying?
had they tried to kill us then we can easily defend ourselves
They are trying to kill us, you pathetic clown. They’re just not very good at it. Doesn’t stop them, of course.
This is the same kind of person, that saw no landing on the moon, (filmed in Hollowood, spelled exactly as I wanted…lol) knows for fact the WTC Towers was an “inside job”, the Bali Bombings, were a legitimate happening, and on and on.
it was the cold war, america would have done anything to beat russia to the moon, they certainly had the means to do it so i dont see why that couldnt be an idea aswell.
as for the others, the WTC and bali bombing were detestable

Caught again. There is no australian (sic) Supreme Court.
This fellow is out of his depth. I came across the same mindset the other evening during a minor judicial matter at Eltham police station. Have a laugh here. Similar errors of spelling and grammar abound suggesting a common genesis: modest educational attainments.
#86 – I too had a giggle at the ‘computer induced grammatic (sic) errors’. What sort of computer would that be? Mine doesn’t do it.

This M.Mayes person is strangely entertaining in a kind of wrong way, like those dogs that have been trained to dance on their hind legs for the benefit of television audiences.
almost as entertaining as having a bunch of halfwits harping on about spelling mistakes thinking they are posing some form of arguement. but whatever you get your kicks from.
You know-a good rule of thumb is that if a poster is too busy to punctuate, he’s also probably too busy to construct a valid argument.
Or he’s just stupid-whatever.
You’ll forgive me if I don’t take any offence about my arguing skills from a bunch of people who (with the exception of 1 or 2) have suceeded in not addressing the point, following accepted ideas as unchallengable dogma, and like yourself made points about spelling, grammar and punctuation.
- I suggest we keep Ms Mayes on after this thread peters out. She seems a worthy addition to the team.

- As we can see, the performing dog also has the added indignity of being made to wear a little pink ruff around its neck. It looks off to the side, where its master is making inane faces and encouraging little squeals. The look on the dog’s face clearly reads, “Are the Bacos treats and permission to lie on a lumpy pillow on the floor next to Master’s lounge chair really worth this?”
I have changed my mind, or perhaps have obtained a clearer view: M.Mayes is not himself the performing dog, he is the owner of said dog, and the dog is actually the tormented and humiliated English language, which Mayes dresses up in inappropriate allusions and makes to perform unsuitable prancing steps for which it was not constructed.

“Is M. Mayes in any way affiliated with ‘a muslima’?”
“That’s a nice try caller, but let me point out a few common amateur mistakes in your analysis. Yes, its almost the same MO. Spelling and grammatical errors, willfull ignorance of the real world, and a sort of forced nostalgia for how he/she wishes history might have been. What is missing is muslima’s ability to almost pull off the ingenue act, the innocent in search of the truth. She inadvertantly came to the right place for that, but was intellectually incapable of recognizing it. This Mayes person is clearly a more devious sort, as he/she came here pre-programmed with some bizarre ideas and proposes them as plausible alternatives, almost a “grassy knoll” sort of approach. Different kettle of fish altogether.”

- This “Islam today is the same as Christianity at the time of the Crusades” line puzzles me.
I’m no theologian, but I understand that there are two fundamental long term doctrinal differences between the two religions. Christianity recognises the separation of the church and the state: that goes back to the teachings of Jesus. Christianity also recognises the doctrine of free will, the concept that at the end of the day it is the individual’s decision, informed by doctrine and conscience, whether to do good or evil. In Islam, it’s do what the Imam tells you to do.
Of course, there have been church-controlled states and Christian theocracies, but I’ve always thought that the above differences make Christianity somewhat less of a threat to pluralism. Can anyone out there who knows more about either of both religions enlighten me some more?

- Gee I was so excited for a while. I e-mailed a Psych prof at the Uni here (vague acquaintance) and asked him to have a look at this thread and in particular our mate Mayes’ contributions. I asked if there was enough material there for some post-doc research.
A little while longer he called me back, informed me in a very stilted voice that he had read Mayes’ stuff and that this was the end. Then there was silence, then the unmistable cocking of a gun and ‘blam’ as the pistol was fired.
Fortunately he was just kidding me. But he did break down sobbing saying that his life’s work, (that ALL psychoses can be cured with appropriate treatment), has been flushed down the toilet after his reading of Mayes. He begged me to keep it quiet.
Damn. Another research project on the fruitcake brigade thwarted. Who’s up next?

Pixy all of their acts of aggression with blowing things up came after the west interfered, they were hardly unprovoked (whilst they were shocking and disgusting)
Provoked? What provoked them to slaughter the children in Beslan, exactly? What provoked them to destroy the World Trade Center? To destroy the ancient statues of Buddha in Afghanistan? To murder schoolgirls in Indonesia, and teachers in Thailand, and random Jewish women in Seattle? To lock their own schoolgirls in a burning building?
What, exactly?
and what of the millions who died at the hands of a “peaceful pluralist” christianity? who had their churches burnt down, people raped and killed all because they didnt believe in the same god.
What millions? What churches? Who was raped? Who was killed? What the hell are you talking about?
- Of course, there have been church-controlled states and Christian theocracies, but I’ve always thought that the above differences make Christianity somewhat less of a threat to pluralism. Can anyone out there who knows more about either of both religions enlighten me some more?
Doctrinally, both Christianity and Islam can—and have been—interpreted to justify theocracies, holy wars, and other abridgements of the church/state division. You can do that with pretty much any religion, IMHO, since at their core religions emphasize the spiritual over the temporal. Whether it’s easier to do so with Islam I don’t know, never having made an in-depth study of either it or Christian doctrine. I do have some familiarity with western European history, however, which I think is what the Crusades comment references.
(This is going just from memory, since I’m too lazy to get up off the couch and go check my notes, but … )
After the fall of Rome, there was a clear division between church and state for about 200 years. The area that would become France was ruled at the time by the Franks, specifically the Merovingian dynasty (Google Merovingian, btw, and you’ll get some interesting historical info and a whole pile of DaVinci Code hoohah conspiracy silliness). While they were nominally Catholic, they were basically warrior kings, deriving their ‘right’ to rule from a combination of bloodline and force of arms. They were not, however, much into the nuts and bolts of administering their lands and left that to a bureaucratic class inherited from the Romans. Over the course of a couple of centuries, inbreeding and increasingly vicious internicine battles (they had lots of kids and no primogeniture, so bloody inheritance wars got fought every generation), hollowed out the Merovingians to mere figureheads. The bureaucrat class, called Mayors of the Palace, became the kings in all but name.
Sometime in the early 8th Century, a Mayor named Charles Martel (aka ‘the Hammer of the Moors’) used a combination of military and political acumen to consolidate all the reins of power into his own hands. He promptly made a key change. Up to that point, church men/women and properties had largely been treated as outside the state’s purview. Land willed to the Church—and everything that land and its tenants produced—became the Church’s forever, since the Church never died. Martel did away with that, seizing properties and levying taxes. Rome was dismayed, but the guys with the swords were the new beneficiaries of the properties and taxes, so all the Church could do was accept the new order of things.
Martel had Merovingian blood but he wasn’t of the royal line and never proclaimed himself king. His son Pepin(?) however, was more ambitious. Pepin struck a deal with Rome. The Pope could claim to have been granted the power by God to annoint a man King, making him of royal blood, and Pepin would back that claim—provided the Pope annointed Pepin King. Forgeries called, I believe, the Tables of St. Peter were duly produced and Pepin became Pepin I. His son, Charlemagne, continued the annointing charade, and lo and behold the ‘divine right of kings’ became established tradition, persisting even after Charlemagne’s empire fell apart.
Friction between Pope and subsequent kings waxed and waned, though the temporal rulers all paid at least lip service to the authority of the guy who ‘signed off’ on their right to rule. That state of affairs lasted up to and through the Crusades, when the Church stopped relying entirely on the state for armies and developed the Orders Militant such as the Knights Templar and the Hospitallers. This made the savvier kings like Louis extremely paranoid, especially when the Holy Land was lost and he suddenly found a large, wealthy, extranational army of veteran knights sitting around in his country with idle hands. In the early 14th Century, he coerced a weak Pope into letting him destroy the Templars, and it was pretty much a downhill slide for church power over the state from then on. Martin Luther (a raging anti-Jew) instigated the Protestant/Catholic schism in the early 16th Century, breaking Rome’s monopoly on doctrinal interpretation and conferring divine right.
Okay, that was probably more than anybody wanted to know, but there you are.

- Now that Mayes is gone (so it says, whose to believe it?) and, if so, soon to be forgotten, let me add to its lexicon of its most recent (since #79) new words and phrases:#117 arguement, #92 bedcause, #101 peaceful objection (in lieu of peaceful demonstration),#80euphamism #90, hide behind an argue,#88, a moron ill #79 computer induced grammatic errors. Why the Nazi lovers themselves, the Islamofascists, and all other anti-semites. So to which category do you belong?
