Phillip Adams reloads his Obama revolver:

If Obama wins the nomination, he’ll be targeted, full stop. Because in the US the politics of personal destruction frequently leads to being shot. I raised the possibility – the probability – of attempts on Obama’s life in this column a month ago …

Adams previously raised the possibility – no, the probability – that US President Wesley Clark would one day meet with Australian Prime Minister Simon Crean. The senator is safe.

The subject came up when I was preparing to interview the author of The New Rome?, a fine piece of political writing by Cullen Murphy, managing editor of The Atlantic Monthly for more than 20 years. He was concerned that I’d raise the issue of Obama being assassinated because every Australian interviewer had done so. In contrast, he said, no one in the US media has raised the possibility.

Not so. A conservative journal raised the possibility almost a year ago:

As the first African-American in history to have a real chance at winning our presidency, Obama is tempting fate as a high profile assassination target for numerous individuals … Like Kennedy, Obama could easily be targeted by an individual who, for whatever deranged reason, might want to see him off the ticket for good …

Back then, this sort of crazy right-wing talk was dismissed as “less a warning than a sick wet dream, the deranged fantasy of a consummate racist who quite obviously would like nothing more than to see Obama in an early grave.” But that was before leftist pundits got hot for a shot on the Democrat front-runner. Adams continues:

I copped the blame, knowing of no other Australian commentator who had raised the issue.

It’s an issue?

And I knew I would have self-censored if my column appeared in a US paper rather than The Australian.

Phil’s column is online.

To discuss even the possibility of an Obama assassination in the US would be asking for trouble.

Evidently not; besides the piece mentioned above, Joseph Palermo discussed the possibility of Obama being RFKed some days before brave Phillip discovered this “issue”. Neither author, so far as anyone can tell, has experienced “trouble”. More fatal than a bullet is Adams’ victory prediction:

[Obama] will win because he’s black, not despite it.

With Adams on Obama’s team, back McCain to win. Hell, for that matter, back Wesley Clark to serve consecutive terms.

Let us hope that maniacal racists in the US do not exact a terrible vengeance.

Leftists, including Adams, have spent the last few years wishing disaster upon a liberated Iraq. Now they’re wishing disaster upon anti-liberation Americans. These people are deranged.

UPDATE. Adams is caught again. Anyone still watching Media Watch will never learn of this.

    1. As commenters have pointed out in other threads, people who try to assassinate U.S. presidents are usually either nuts or egomaniacs or both. Phil Adams seems to think that vast numbers of caucasian Americans sleep on tinted sheets because the white ones are used exclusively as KKK uniforms. If this were true, how is it that certain high-profile African-Americans, whose racial huckstering can be said to be genuinely offensive – people like Jesse Jackson, Al Sharpton, Louis Farrakhan – avoid the necessity of sleeping in safe houses, employing body doubles and keeping food-tasters on hand?

There is a certain type of liberal who is more interested in seeing every wicked thing he believes about America proved to be true, than in witnessing even his own utopian dreams come to fruition.

Was it a racist that attempted assassinations on other Presidents?

How about Robert Kennedy..Sirhan Sirhan, a racist?

I think you will find Adams the Fruitcake, that the commonality of the above killers and near killers IS a deranged mind. So deranged that none of the above could even spell, racist.

These stock villains don’t exist, which is why it’s safe to make movies and TV shows about them.

Info on aborigines in Australian politics…

“Under Section 41 of the Australian Constitution Aboriginals always had the legal right to vote in Australian Commonwealth elections if their State granted them that right. This meant that all Aborigines outside Queensland and Western Australia had a legal right to vote. Indigenous Australians gained the unqualified right to vote in Federal elections in 1962. It was not until 1967 that they were counted in the population for the purpose of distribution of electoral seats. Only two Indigenous Australians have been elected to the Australian Parliament, Neville Bonner (1971-1983) and Aden Ridgeway (1999-2005). There are currently no Indigenous Australians in the Australian Parliament.”–wiki

What is he talking about? Four presidents over 140 years plus RFK and Martin Luther King? That’s six. The Russians, fresh from killing Rasputin, wiped out not only the tsar but his whole family, then went on to assassinate Trotsky and execute and assassinate hundreds of political figures during Stalin’s regime. There are many other countries that have killed more than six political figures, from China, to North Korea, to Iraq, to Yugoslavia, to Germany, to Chile, to Indonesia (twice!) and so on and so forth.

Why even Australia has had one political assassination (Newman), which on a pro-rata basis is 20 assassinations in the US.

    1. (I put this comment on a similar thread on Andrew Bolt’s blog)
I’m simply amazed at the amount of left-wing commentators that are convinced that Obama will be assassinated “because he is black”. Most recently from Philip Adams.
As for Obama having more chance of being assassinated just because he was black I’d say it’s complete nonsense. Reagan wasn’t black and he was shot. Dick chaney and Bush aren’t black yet movies have even been made glorifying their assassinations. JFK wasn’t black but that didn’t stop him from being shot for being anti-communist by a man who has more in common with the far left of the modern Democrat party than JFK ever did. Robert Kennedy was shot by a Palestinian terrorist for being pro-Israel. Republican President Garfield (white) was shot, as were Republicans Abraham Lincoln, and William McKinley whose assassin was a left-wing activist. Assassins tried to kill Gerald Ford twice with the first attempt made by a hippie and the second by a left-wing ‘revolutionary’.Remember that the first state primary won by Obama was an overwelmingly white state. If you’re going to accuse the US of being a nexus of racism you should check your facts and history. The left is more than capable of violence. After all the left did create Stalin, Mussolini, Hitler, Pol Pot, Castro, Guevara, etc etc. and Karl Marx was a fanatical racist.

Thus, murderous head-chopping Islamists are displaced by evangelical Christians, etc etc, and don’t metion real assassins. Don’t mention Danial Pearl’s death; Don’t talk about Theo van Gogh; let’s demonize the American White Male, you know the ones who would not lift a finger to his wife and children, but forget an entire society that sanctions wife-beating as a routine part of family life. Don’t worry gutless Adam, when the Islamists come for you the Australian military, that you detest, will rescue.
