Margo Kingston, back in August:

I bet a colleague $100 bucks today that Howard would retire by December 31. He talks the talk alright, but the talk is a lie.

Funny how things turn out, isn’t it? Howard is still in power, but Margo has retired. She talked the talk alright, but the talk was a lie!

    1. Whats $100 bucks in Margo’s currency doubloons i imagine, the emphasis being on the last syllable.

Greg Sheridan had a decent scathing comment about the Margit’s foolishness in saturdays’ Australian.

    1. Er Tim for one moment I thought you meant she was coming in from the cold in August.

    1. Aunty’s Dy-nasties tonight was Communists big day out.Aaron family lovingly(after Dad’s funeral)relives the halcyon life of reds down under.Schmalzy sweet and villainizing Asio and its earlier incarnations, wistful and nostalgic and simply longing for the Revolution that never arrived in OZ.No mention wharf strikes holding up the troops in ww2 either.
When I said “they are as bad as Hicks”,my mate said “well the Fascists were worse.”
Yeah and the Commos were the fascists’ allies during the war until the Germans attacked Russia. The Commos knew when to change sides….

    1. It might have been $10 or $1000, what with spelling.

    1. Margo Kingston – the gift that keeps on giving.

    1. Margo lied, people died laughing.

    1. She may have thought that retire means to change the wheels on your car.

    1. I’m sorry, your internet license should be taken away if you say both “$” and “bucks” in regards to a single amount of money.

    1. What a silly bunt.

    1. $100 bucks?  She bet 100 bucks or $100.  Otherwise she bet “One hundred dollars bucks” which makes about as much sense as anything else she writes or says.

    1. Oops, sorry MikeG, beat me to the point.

    1. What I want to know is, did she pay up? And how many more sucker bets did she make? And was this illegal betting activity the REAL reason for Web Diary’s collapse?

      Posted by paco on 2006 01 02 at 03:47 PM • permalink

    1. She wasn’t really betting 100 dollars, she was betting one share in Webdiary Ltd….

    1. She misspelt “bucks”

    1. Why would Howard even contemplate retiring if he’s fully supported by “the fundamentalist Zionist lobby” which “controls politics and the media in the US and Australia”?

      Makes no sense, Margo.

    1. Actually, since Margo obviously never understood the first thing about money, working for a living, or retirement, her sentence structure is just about perfect.

    1. An aberration in otherwise flawless judgement.

    1. #3 “the Fascists were worse.”
Crash, I reckon that would depend on whether one were crushed under a fascist jackboot or a communist jackboot.

    1. I agree, Larrikin, the Fascists were much more stylish than the Communists (and thankfully much more inept).

    1. Did/does anyone ever read her or Whatsiname Phillup Addams?
I tried once or twice but nearly strained my jaw muscles through yawning.
      I found them tiresome bores.

    1. Has anyone checked the Webdary balance sheet?  Maybe this bet is listed as a liability.

    1. Webdiary balance sheet.  Unless I mean Webdairy.
