- Speaking of eggs, someone should invite Mark from Lover Rodeo over for his most favlishus omelette recipes.
- The Schappelle Corby Case
This is shaping up a major worry for the Indonesians, but even more so for the Australian Government.
I hope that the judges realise that there is no way that the prosecution can demonstrate that she is responsible for the stuff being there. She was not in possession of the bags for long periods. There is ample evidence that bags are interfered with. The judges do not need this to be presented to them as to a kindergarten class.
There is no motive.
If convicted, she will become a cause celebre. If convicted, she will be a great argument for the Australian Government to issue a Permanent Travel Warning to Australians: Stay Out Of Indonesia!!!!!
All Australians should feel duty bound to boycott Indonesia in any event, should this case go bad. It is not as if we don’t already have reasons to distrust the Indonesians – their failure to properly deal with their arch-terrorist No.1 is a glaring case of adjusting justice to suit the circumstances. If the failure to deal with him is followed by failure to properly deal with Ms. Corby, what faith could we have that they are making progress?
Am I being too harsh?
West Papua
Indonesia is the country that assassinated Theys Eluay (via its troops, who got token sentences)the leader of the Free Papua Movement. They are resettling that country with their own citizens. They have no proper claim to that land – it is a hiccup of history that the east and west halves of PNG were once administered by Germany and Holland respectively. Indonesia’s invasion of West Papua rested on the claim for all former Dutch territories to become Indonesian. There is no ethnic or cultural basis for this claim, and it represents a spreading of Islamic influence to the border of our former administrative charge, PNG.
They had no right to West Papua, but we and others had not the guts to stop them in the 1960s, and it appears that it has become politically unpalatable to do it now, unlike the East Timor case.
If Indonesia wants to have peaceful coexistence they need to smarten up, and stop the ethnic displacement they have embarked upon.
- Another chaotic event (for litigants) must be the case of the sleeping judge.
Listening to some of these cases, this guy has clearly abrogated his judicial duty for years and whilst his conduct was well known in the legal circles there was no mechanism to protest against his behaviour.
Court officials worked around him by banging rulers and papers to wake him up but to no avail, he would simply fold his arms and resume snoozing.
The man made judgement on issues of which he had no knowledge. The victims of his lapses have to live with his misjudgments.
The NSW legal system is in tandem with the UN; they appear to be unaccountable.
Who judges the judges?
- Blogs I think that the best thing for Indonesia and for Corby is to find her guilty and sentence her to 7 months (which she has already served) and then deport her – face saving and kowtowing etc.
Their poor conduct over the police investigation has placed them into a no win situation and tourism is going to suffer big time.
Whilst promoters like to say ‘Bali Bagus’ the reality is Indonesians are very poor and they regard tourists as cash cows.
Doesn’t make for a pleasant holiday at all if your run the risk of death for just being there. I have heard that aussie tourist destinations like Hamilton Is are fully booked.
- Rog2, remember the “separation of powers” under the Westminster system.
Judges are normally judged by their peers, who have a fairly effective allocation system to side-line arseholes.
I personally would not like to see any system of political or popular force applied to the judiciary. Reminds me of the Joh era, in fact…..
- I would imagine that the judge sleeping through your case would be grounds for appeal? With costs paid back by the state, etc?
Makes it a lengthy hassle, but still…

- USA posters should ask nay demand tim cover the current case about turning off life for a comatose patient which has emerged in the oz media. This case has everything. Makes the recent USA case of husband versus family etc simple by comparrison and is 3 times as startling.Posted by Astonished on 04/29 at 06:01 AM • permalink
- His Darpness is obviously none too smart; this is his response to Tim B’s earlier post telling him he’s liar:
There is another Tim (Lambert) V Tim (Blair) dust up is taking place and apparently it all concerns what I did/did not know about certain deadlines being set for me to prove that Tim Blair likes to mock Margo Kingston’s looks.
Where’s the evidence, Darp?
- Chaotic Reactions:
Remember the Stick a Toothpick in the Newspaper Box thingy? Well, I retaliated today. You know those boringly-predictable, free, alt-left weeklies? Well, I passed one of their machines today (“The Casco Bay Weekly” is the name of this particular fishwrap), and guess what I did? I IGNORED IT! I totally[/i}] did not grab a copy. Take that, lefty scum!
Ah, if only I could have denied them my money.
I’m sure I missed a great article on how the Right crushes dissent and silences opposing views.
- There’s a new Spiderman game in development, with first details in the latest PSM. If they manage to refine Spiderman 2’s gameplay so it’s a little more focused and tight (direction more then controls, the web slinging was spot on), we’ll have the finest superhero game on a home console, period.
What are you all looking at me like that for? It’s NEWS dammit. 😛

- Being in America I only heard about the Schapelle Corby business recently; what a mess. But I have to say that the weirdest thing, for me (besides the whole “Let’s go over the evidence with our BARE HANDS oh, and have the suspect touch it too, and so completely ruin any fingerprint evidence” business) is the fact that the prosecutor was saying that Corby should be given a harsh sentence because she had “besmirched the reputation of Bali as a tourist destination,” or something like that. Because you know tourists will be flocking once they’re assured that the noble Indonesian government has gotten that foul drug-running beauty-school ditz behind bars for the rest of her life.
Also, I’m wondering where the name “Schapelle” came from also. Family name? Hippie child?

- BUT WAIT! If you buy that book along with the MoveOn book you pay only 14.74! I see Ted Rall is also on their shortlist.
Only 2-19 found the Jeremy Meier review helpful. Must stop using reason when reviewing lefty books-as Chomsky has said, or should have said.
My local cable operator has revamped their public access platform to make one channel into FSTV. That’s better than the book reviews!
- Breaking News:
A woman who was days from getting married has disappeared. She’s white, middle-class, under 30, and not bad looking. I learned this from Fox News, which has complete and ongoing coverage of this very, very, very, oh-so-very important story.
In related news, Rupert Murdoch has announced the launch of a Fox News sister channel, the Fox News White Middle-Class Under-35 Not-Bad Looking Missing Females Channel (FNMCU30NBLMFC), which will feature 24-hour coverage of all cases of white, middle-class, under 35, not-bad-looking missing females. Said Murdoch, “This station will serve a prime affluent – and paranoid – demographic, and provide them with up-to-the-second information on the fates of these, the most important people in the world – not-too-shabby-looking middle-class American shielas who haven’t hit their sell-by date.”
- Allan: “Schapelle” = bogan parents. There has a trend for made-up names in recent years, invariably a firm indicator the parents are working class. It’s far, far worse in the US, where there is at least one site devoted to mocking these names.
PS – The number of late-20s early-30s ‘Kylies’ around these days is frightening.

- The Australian ran an editorial during the week justifying its naming of Peter Gunner in an obit – Mr Gunner now being a Dead Indigenous Person. Responding to an attack by Media Watch the editorial said that aboriginal customs regarding the dead were ‘far too complex in form, vague in duration and variant among different groups to function as practical guidelines for a national newspaper.’ This outburst of common sense can have only one source! - It’s a very serious condition! 😉
I’ve had this condition since I was eleven! I’ve been in and out of hospitals my whole life. I have no control over it. Doctors have told me that when I feel it, the best thing to do is just release it. Otherwise, I could die.

- b.n.- Kofi has cleared his former chief of staff Iqbal Riza,of violation of staff rules in shredding documents just before the start of an enqiry into the oil for food scandal.A spokesman said there was? no grounds for disciplinary action against him.In its latest interim report last month,an independent inquiry commission headed by former U.S.Federal Reserve Chairman Paul Volker criticised Mr Riza,of Pakistan, over shredded documents related to the oil-for food programme.
- An interesting report on a scenario for just what Iran might be going to do with its “peaceful nuclear capacity?.
http://www.worldnetdaily.com/news/article.asp?ARTICLE_ID=44017This phenomenon has been well documented for many years. I would expect that the US military have plans for anyone who tries it.

- The white, middle-class, under 35, not bad looking woman has been found. She called from New Mexico to say that her kidnappers got nervous from the publicity and let her go. Sounds like bullshit. Remember that college girl who took off for a few days and then popped up after a whole freakin’ city searched for her? I thought Fox News might have learned its lesson then about covering these non-stories. Maybe they will now, but I doubt it.
I would hazard a guess that middle-class white females are the least victimized members of our society, yet Fox gives them about 90% of its crime-victim coverage. What is that?

It’s for audience. The largest block of soap-opera news junkies is white women, and the audience must be able to relate to the victim. Hence pretty white women are always the subject.
Men don’t get it, unless they’re news directors. It’s called a woman-in-peril story.
In the meantime, thanks to Radio Japan, a Native American Indian purification ceremony has been discovered http://rhhardin.home.mindspring.com/indian.ram as well as an Aboriginal German purification ceremony for comparison http://rhhardin.home.mindspring.com/bach.ram that I happened to have on the HD.

- Another piece of quite lunatic Howard-hatred from Alan Ramsay. He writes of the Sandakan death camp (where, incidentally, plans to rescue the prisoners before the Japs murdered them in wWrld War II were thwarted because of LEFT-WING TRADE UNION STRIKES!). Anyway, Ramsay writes about a speech given there that is likely to leave John Howard allegedly “discomforted and embarassed”
Trouble is, the speech, which Ramsay then quotes, has nothing to do with Howard or any other politician.
Ramsay has lost it, big time.
In the following piece he’s spitting and bitching about his ex-hero, Mark Latham.
Pathetic.

- I hope the bride-to-be-with-cold-feet gets the bill for all of the costs associated with the search for her. Folks, that’s a lot, and it’ll be sucked out of the local budget, instead of going towards, oh, law enforcement. There won’t be any reimbursement from Federal or State agencies on this one.
It’s great that police jumped on this so quick, it’s the only assurance that you might be able find the person before it’s too late. But expending all these resources on finding some woman who just ran away from a wedding? There’s no sympathy from me for her! A short note would have been a nice touch.
And as for FoxNews…..I agree, they went overboard on this one. The “Amber Alert” system shows that getting the word out on missing people helps. But such constant coverage? Heck, we knew about it here in Kuwait, thanks to Fox dedicating a large percentage of their broadcast to this.
Must be a slow news day. Amazing, considering how there’s a war going on in Iraq, a terrorist attack in Egypt, and England is pleading guilty to several charges from the Abu Gharib fiasco.

- But here’s some good news from Hollywood:
J-Lo ignores PETA at movie opening.
Hollywood divas do have some redeeming qualities, it seems. Still, she really didn’t slap those idiots down very hard, she’s only ignoring them.
I wonder if J-Lo would eat a roast beef sandwhich for an anti-PETA ad? Maybe while wearing a tight leather suit, trimmed with fur?

- Was watching Channel nine news last night with Peter Harvey talking about the “liberation” day celebrations in Vietnam. It is now about moving on together is how Harvey explained the celebrations. Definitely, unless of course you disagree with the government, believe in a free society or are evil enough to be a Catholic. But then again freedom is such a relative thing.
- Mark Steyn: “If Bush has a soulmate in the inner councils of the Coalition of the Willing, it’s John Howard in Australia. Howard’s with Bush not just on the war but on all the other stuff, too. Indeed, the Aussie prime minister is publicly far blunter on, say, the uselessness of the U.N. than Bush is.”
Read on. (It’s mostly about the UK election)

- guinsPen — Don’t forget the seekrit moonbase the Brits are running at our command to shoot down the UFO’s….Posted by richard mcenroe on 05/01 at 04:54 PM • permalink
- Richard, I believe you might be thinking of this:
In 1999, Moonbase Alpha, nestled in the Lunar crater Plato, is a scientific research colony and watchdog over silos of atomic waste from Earth stored on the Moon’s far side. On September 13, 1999, magnetic energy builds to cause an explosive chain-reaction of the waste, blasting the Moon out of Earth orbit and off the plane of the ecliptic, out of the Solar System. The inhabitants of Moonbase Alpha are unable to return to Earth and must survive on their wandering Moon as it is displaced further into unknown space by freak space warps. Along the way, they are joined by an alien woman with the ability to change herself into any living creature at will.
Of course, this didn’t happen. I credit Tony Blair and a crack British moonbase team who narrowly averted this disaster. The British might not do it often, but they did it this time. Good job mates. (Notice no French people involved—figures).

- “I think we would all enjoy a link to said sites. :)”
Or here – as one lady says, “Sounds like a good name for a pet”.
Another weird trend is naming babies after US states. It’s weird enough if you’re actually American, but even weirder if you’re Australian. Example: the Melbourne baby that was kidnapped (get it?) a few months ago: “Montana”. I suppose this is fair enough – they were a bogan family. The father was a wanted drug dealer and quasi-bigamist.
I hear “Arkansas”, “Oklahoma” and “South Dakota” were on the short-list. Next big trend: naming babies after Australian states, and I don’t mean “Victoria”.

…you’ll find a lot of really shameful entertainment. I think the absolute nadir was Aryan Justice (the poor kid’s parents turned out to be white supremacists) but there’s a lot of Tryndy (bogan?) type stuff as well.
- I’m not really worried about and EMP attack by terrorists, or other conventional attacks on infrastructure.
Whoever came up with this scenario should look at recent terrorist targeting history.
Never forget these brave warriors love to kill as many defencless people in Nightblubs, on Commuter trains, Coffee shops, airplanes, office buildings.
They LOVE soft targets

- Herr Beck has beaten me to it, but there’s been a chaotic reaction by commie crybaby Darp over a visual gag alluding to his less than convincing claim to Maori warrior status. I’ll bet he doesn’t even own a Mark 11 Zephyr, let alone toi tois for the wireless antenna. Could it be he’s getting a little desperate about having to account for previous claims regarding TB’s fixation with the Margoyle’s virulent visage? What a maroon.
- From Greg Sheridan (in a recent Vietnam article):
“It’s a funny thing about communist revolutions, they are always more popular in the West than with their own people.”
