Snow means peace in Baghdad … and also in Ramallah:

Men in long Arab robes pelted each other with snowballs in the Jordanian capital, Amman, and the West Bank city of Ramallah, seat of the Palestinian government, came to a standstill.

“I’m originally from Gaza where snow never falls,” said Bothaina Smairi, 28, who was out in Ramallah taking photographs. “The white snow is covering the old world and I feel like I am in a new world where everything is white, clean, and beautiful.”

All those years of conflict … and the place only ever needed just a little global coolening. There’s plenty to go around.

    1. It would have been a unique experience for many of them. And better to fight with snowballs than real weapons.

As per Andrea’s suggestion, I sent the turd troll a minor ‘up your arse’ and got an email from him/her detailing my intimate family info.

I’ve gone to the police to report it. But I’m not satisfied. Does anyone have thoughts re how we can nail this prick. He works with access to legally protected data. I want his arse.

I sent a report on this to Andrea and as yet haven’t had a response.

    1. #17 Ash. I note below the email I received in response to the minor ‘get a life’ that I sent to garry.logan8@gmail.com

I’ve put my Blair blog name and false family names into the gentleman’s email to me. As follows:

“I don’t know mehaul but perhaps I’ll pop around to the pharmacy and have a talk with sue later. Life here on the Gold Coast sure is fun don’t you think?

By the way is Philip looking forward to starting this year at UQ?

Maybe I’ll send some pizzas around. Remind me again you do live at xxxxxx don’t you?

      home phone number xxxxxxxx

That’s the problem with being rude to strangers on the internet you don’t know what they’re capable of finding out do you.

      Keep in touch Mehaul

    1. Hi mehaul,

My suggestion would be the Office of the Privacy Commissioner.

Also, at the risk betraying my woeful lack of IT savvy, can Andrea H identify the ISP that clown posted here from?  If it’s from a government department, you could try getting an MP (presumably from our side of the fence) to kick up a fuss about it.  I can’t, though, readily identify what department’s database would include all that information; Dept of Education is the only thing that came to mind.

      Hope this helps.

Oh, one more suggestion – is it worth alerting the administrators of the Gmail site?  Would they be cool with the use it’s just been put to?

A friend of the missus got badly hacked, phone calls, kis services etc from a lovely lady in forumland she used to visit. Bugger all happened with her complaints till a letter was drafted by her hubbies soliciter (cost a bit) but that got the name, and a restraining order pretty quick.
Only a suggestion, it was an Australian based server/forum, so if its overseas it prob wont work.

    1. #32 Daddy Dave. No DD I in my sedentary mindset sent the twist an email saying ‘grow up’.
All he had to do was right click on my email title, go to properties and get my email address, just as he would on any cursory Blair blog email sent to him.He has then taken that info and dug down and broken my confidentiality virginity and it has hurt. Oooooh.

So this has become my 2008 task. To not only find him/her…but bury it in whatever I can.

    1. Mehaul: just read your info on the harrassment you’re getting from “Garry Logan.: I didn’t get an email from you—I think, I get so much spam it clogs my email servers—but anyway, here are the ISPs I have from the creep:

      220.233.195.161

    1. mehaul, here is the pertinent schedule of the Criminal code…(Click me, and it pays to expand the history under the Part 10.6 – Telecommunications Services heading, the juicy bits you wave under the Carrier’s nose until they cough up the miscreant.)

      The gist:

      CHAPTER 10 – NATIONAL INFRASTRUCTURE
      Part 10.6 – Telecommunications Services
      Division 474 – Telecommunications Offences
      Definitions
Subdivision C – Offences related to use of telecommunications
SECTION 474.17 Using a carriage service to menace, harass or cause offence

      (1)

A person is guilty of an offence if:

      (a) the person uses a carriage service; and

      (b) the person does so in a way (whether by the method of use or the content of a communication, or both) that reasonable persons would regard as being, in all the circumstances, menacing, harassing or offensive.

      Penalty: Imprisonment for 3 years.

Surrounded by social workers and the 48 family members from his various family links (he’s still in the cell yard) he won’t feel bad at all. But that won’t stop the social community from offering him free rent, work opportunities and a glimmer of hope. All the qualities the wanker doesn’t espouse currently.

    1. Mental. You’re light years ahead of me. Please flick on the info in layman’s talk through the email connection. And thanks for the persistence. Andrea has the prick’s ISP connections which I can send you.

So, this is where he slips up—Two OZ ISP’s: Exetel and Westnet.

I don;’t want to be alarmist—I reckon you’ve got things well in perspective—but I’d listen to everything everyone has told you here, and don’t wait—this joker sounds like he could very well be dangerous.

Get in touch with the folks at that that .gov link I gave you up top, call the Telecommunications Ombudsman, and get on to Exetel and Westnet.

    1. Oh, sorry, mate—I wasn’t reading your reposnse in between, how rude of me—kinda got caught up in the chase.

There’s some real boffin’s out there in Blairdom that’s be able to help you more’n me.

Luck to you and safe harbours.

    1. Those ISPs are interesting MentalFloss. Whether he’s a paying customer of theirs or not, their equipment is being used for criminal purposes, and I can’t imagine that they’d approve of that at all.

Except for Anonymouse. It’s for shitkickers who are never going to be up to anything good.

    1. #s 46-47.

Sorry mehaul – wasn’t trying to abandon you!  Dunno about the other lawyers here, but it’s usually only in the evenings I read this blog properly.

I’m usually reluctant to get deeply into acting in an area of law that’s not part of my actual practice: I’m but an employee solicitor, and the fate of the lawyer who caused this particular calamity for her employer tends to be a bit of a cautionary tale.

If it’s OK with you, I’l give it a bit of thought at the weekend and either post here or email you any bright ideas I have?

    1. One more thing: If you are casting around for a firm in Queensland that might be able to help, can I recommend Gilshenan & Luton?  I’ve dealt with them a bit where we have clients with inter-state matters and they’ve always struck me as a very skilful and acute firm.  Not sure if this is strictly within their field of activity but it might be worth a phone call, maybe?

  1. #59 Thanks renegade. It all adds up. Please email me any relevant info and I’ll keep you up to date.
