If Mitchum has a successor in Hollywood, I’d say it’s Bruce Willis. Sadly, there are few others.

Can you imagine the reaction of the vaunted “Arab street” if Bush has said something like that. (He did try, but that was before he met up the “reality” folks that were bound and determined not to let him get away with it.) They were quiet enough when they were unsure whether we’d take the war to their damned street. Of course, once they realized that the West is no real threat, they finally erupted in full voice and violence.

#6, you’re exactly right, saltydog. Apparently even George Bush and the Republicans haven’t learned, despite the evidence so far, that the surest and fastest way to shut the “Arab street” up is to smack ‘em in the head.
