The BBC’s Justin Webb warns us all to behave:
Some amazement at the warm-up act for the President at his US airbase visit before he left Germany.
Cheerleaders – scantily-dressed and provocatively choreographed – charged around the stage, shaking their assets at the assembled troops …
Admittedly, this was an all-American affair, and cheerleading is an all-American, wholesome sport.
But these pictures were available to any TV station in the world – including the Muslim world.
Those cheerleaders are going to look great in burkas.
- Well, that link is useless without pictures. Thanks a lot, Justin.Posted by Matt in Denver on 2005 02 24 at 07:40 PM • permalink

- Check out the Frankfurt Galaxy (what a name!) cheerleaders, who welcomed the Prez: http://www.cheerleader.org/galaxy.shtml
- Well they’ll be completely at home here in Oz on our SBS. On a Friday night last year they showed a “documentary” on a mother and son who practised Sado masochism for a fee on members of the public. Tasteful live action of them all piled one on top of the other with the elderly mother plying the whip, taking various parts of people’s bodies in her mouth etc etc—you get the drift. I hope no Muslim people were watching their SBS.
off topic- Andrew Bolt punished by being featured for 15 mins as the big, bad wolf on Catalyst (against Kyoto).
Last night’s ABC and SBS news presenters BOTH used the term “CHARM OFFENSIVE” about George W Bush last night.Did they copy it off someone else or did the ABC crib it from SBS….?
- The operative word being “available”. No one would be forcing a TV station with a large Muslim audience to screen the thing.
Not unless the Bu$h Junta is more powerful than we thought. Take up the cry, lefties! No boobs for oil!

- Yeah, they will, won’t they? hehhehheh…
Look for an increase in “insurgent” casualties over the next couple days; it’s hard to adopt a good prone firing position when your short arm is cocked and locked…
Although I’d be worried about showing them to our gallant UN peacekeepers. Get them boys worked up and they’re like to head straight to the nearest pre-school…

- Thanks Cuckoo! I too was about to complain about the journalistic lapse of not including pics.Posted by Susan Norton on 2005 02 24 at 10:21 PM • permalink
- Ah! Cheer leaders! One of the better manifestations of democracy in action! Those perky bouncing breasts; those lithe thighs; those rounded buttocks (so reminiscent of a barely ripe peach) and those gyrating pelvises, pregnant with promise?
Oxygen, damn you, oxygen! And whilst you’re there bring me my blood-pressure tablets and a double dose of sedative.
All that aside, I would dearly love to see Condi in a teddy. What a phenomenon that woman is! Smart; attractive; articulate; super-highly intelligent and with a resume that most career women would kill for – plus an overbite that triggers the ultimate male fantasies. And she’s black! Damn me, if the Republicans don’t nominate her in 2008 they’re out of their freaking minds!
- Based on this, I believe we can expect a Kent Brockman-like reaction from Justin when the giant space ants finally land on earth.
- Y’know, here in Kuwait, we actually get cable TV. It’s a satellite feed, but I know that we share a lot of these channels with the Arab world because of the Arabic subtitles, on American movies, through popular movie channels. There’s no “R” rated stuff, so I suppose we could apply the term “wholesome” to this.
Thus the Muslim world has ample of opprotunity to view the female form in various scenarios. And they pay for this.
So Webb’s whine is silly. Oh, wait, he works for the BBC. My bad…..

- There is a refinement to some aspects of European life which simply can’t be matched in the New World. – Justin Webb
The vulgarity of their rituals is, perhaps, relieved by, how shall I say, an endearing boisterous energy. Like a young wine, Americans can be so amusing, mon cher Justin, do you not think?
“But these pictures were available to any TV station in the world – including the Muslim world.”
And this is supposed to be a problem because of… why, exactly?

- Yes, Moslem audiences would wince at the sight of all those ungodly, unveiled female heads. They prefer their heads rolling off to one side after they’ve been hacked off by a gang of virtuous murders!
Trust the BBC to run with a line like that!
WHAT NEXT!?
And as for the ABC’s coverage of Bush in Europe…that would’ve had to have been a first class lesson in predetermined spin and manipulation to the point of total corruption!
- Did that cracl BBC reporter happen to note that those were a German cheerleader squad?Posted by richard mcenroe on 2005 02 26 at 06:30 PM • permalink

And we should give a rat’s ass about this because….?
There is a refinement to some aspects of European life which simply can’t be matched in the New World
For which, I assure you, we in the New World are eternally grateful.
Obnoxious snot.
