He did it with a straight face, too:

Labor’s environment spokesman Peter Garrett has accused Prime Minister John Howard of scaremongering on climate change.

Perhaps Peter was just protecting his turf.

    1. Garrett has a helluva nerve accusing anybody of being a scaremonger. I mean, check out his impact on the average voter.

    1. How about the caption on the photo:- Peter Garrett has bitten back at Prime Minister John Howard.

I hope he’s had a tetanus shot, and if the member for KS actually exchanged some salive during the chomp JWH had better start checking his mirror for a reflection on a regular basis.

    1. OT – Oh dear, I fear a very stern letter may be heading our way. Australia has been included on a list of the world’s worst labour regimes – replacing Columbia, where 72 unionists were assassinated last year.

We will be tried before a committee of the International Labour Organisation, a special agency of the UN dedicated to improving labour standards.

It is understood that a concerned Australian citizen felt duty bound to report us to this august UN body.

    1. I’m often gruntled. As far as the maths are concerned, if you aim to achieve a reduction of 60% of CO2 emissions in the next 43 years, you’d consider a gradual reduction of say an average 1.3% per year. Looks achievable, yes?

So, by 2020, ALP policy is aiming for a reduction of 18.13% total CO2 emissions. Would Peter dispute this figure? Howard’s claim of 20% reduction would in fact be achieved about May 2021. Hardly “scaremongering” you bald pillock. It’s your own party policy. Could Pete outline exactly what the rate CO2 reduction should be if 1.3% pa is too high?

    1. (quote) Peter Garrett has accused Prime Minister John Howard of scaremongering on climate change, denying that he favours a 20 per cent cut in emissions by 2020.
“Labor’s policy has always been crystal clear – a 60 per cent cut in emissions by 2050. That is the policy that I support, that is the policy I have always supported and I think it is the right policy”.
Like CB (22), the alleged misrepresentation escapes me.

    1. Chezza allegedly saw more pricks than a dartboard. When the generals talk about Turbo Pete’s achievements, they won’t be calling him a king of the mountain. He thinks he’s got the best of both worlds, but he’s closer to being back on the borderline. His years on the backbeanch will be forgotten, his efforts as so much red sails in a sunset. Reliving his glory days with his name up in 20000 watt globes at an RSL. I don’t wanna be the one to tell him, but US forces have already given the nod. No power or passion for Pillock Pete.

He’ll be used and abused by the ALP to sell their message, but a cold cold change is coming to grip his black heart. When voters come to stand in line, Pete’s bleat about oil profiteers is going to get no reaction. He’s living in a dream world if he thinks the ALP are going to get within a bulls roar of victory at the polls.

*there’s a free Caramello Koala for anyone who can tell me how many songs I jammed into that*
