A Democratic Underground operative exposes BushCo’s sinister Iraq elections ploy:
All we’ve heard the past few weeks was how bad the violence was going to be, how Iraqi turnout was in question, how much of a disaster this was going to be, et al. In other words, we were lured into believing this was going to be a mess, but the reality is it wasn’t so bad. There was violence, but there was also a huge voter turnout … These guys are adept at making us believe that all will be a disaster, but when the reality shows itself to be not-that-bad, they look better in the aftermath than they deserve.
Via Rob at SemiSkimmed, who notes: “If predictions of doom were a Bush ploy … that must mean Robert Fisk works for Karl Rove!”
- I think the time-space continuum of leftist stupidity just folded back onto itself…Posted by PW on 01/31 at 04:49 AM • permalink
- Yes, but who did we hear “it is going to be a disaster” from? Who is having difficulty accepting the gladness of Iraqis to vote?
My favourite soundbite was the traditionally dressed Iraqi lady who said she gave thanks (for the chance to vote) to the Prophet Mohammed, and to George Bush.
That must have causd frothing at the mouth in some circles!
- To all of those that denigrate what happened in Iraq this weekend: You are small, small people.
There are certain dates in time that those of who love freedom, liberty, democracy, etc., will always remember, and will always hold close to their hearts. January 20, 2005 was one of those days.
So far, i’ve seen pictures of diasabled Iraqis being taken to the voting stations in donkey-carts and wheel-barrows.
I’ve seen picture after picture of Iraqis wearing their absolute best clothes as they go to vote. Shit, when was the last YOU ever wore your best suit to go vote? And the Iraqis wore their best on January 30 one reason: they knew that day was one that will live in their memory for a long, long time. And they wanted to look their best for that day.
And the Iraqis, whehter in Iraq or in the USA or in Australia or in Britain or in the Netherlands or in Gemrany, they all PROUDLY diplay the purple/blue that lets the world know that, yes, they VOTED.
To those of us who’ve been born and raised in democracies, we forget how great that right is. On January 30, 2005, the Iraqis reminded us just what a great right it is being able to chose those that wil govern us.
Finally, the glory of this last weekend belongs to a small number of nations. The USA, Great Britain, Australia, and Poland. The last people on earth who have the hearts of lions. The last countries on earth that raises warriors, in the very best sense of that word.
To France, and Canada, and New Zealand, and Germany, and Russia, and Sweden, and Ireland, and Austria: Fuck you, none of the glory of this election is yours. You punked out, and you should hang your heads in shame that an 80-year Iraqi woman—carried to the voting center in a wheel-barrow—has more courage and bravery than your countries had.Posted by David Crawford on 01/31 at 07:49 AM • permalink
- Leftoid (love that word) analysis: The Iraqi election went from “can’t and won’t happen” to “the election is the easy part).
Thank you Mr. Kerry for being as stupid, arrogant and unintendedly hilarious as you are and thank you Mr. Russet for bringing to our attention again. Your ploy of letting Kerry be Kerry all over your Sunday morning program yesterday was brilliant. Kerry totally wiped out any chance he might be considered for any leadership role anywhere on planet Earth.
Should there have been a more acceptable candidate, the leftoids (love that word) might have won and Barbara Boxer might be the majority leader. Heaven forefend!
Anyone know how to say, ‘God forbid’ in Arabic?
- Does this mean the eeevil neocons didn’t predict that our troops would be welcomed with flowers after all?Posted by Paul Zrimsek on 01/31 at 10:24 AM • permalink
- Wait a minute, somehow it’s all OUR fault that the loony liberal left ran with the Chicken Little scenario before the elections? And because things went well, those who helped make those things go well DON’T deserve the credit, becase the leftoids were so convinced otherwise?
My head hurts trying to follow that. Man, how does someone who takes that little responsibility for his own beliefs managed to get dressed on his own in the mornings?
- This is not the first time that the left said that something couldn’t be done and that disaster would happen instead—and then, after it was done without disaster, said that that was the easy part, anybody could have seen that, no big deal, etc.
The quoted leftist sees a glimmer of the truth—that the left is set up for fall after fall by the media’s leftist bias—but of course doesn’t stop to wonder how broadly and deeply his/her thinking may be based on media-chanted myths and lies.
- blogstrop, Kimberly, that’s the point. Everyone is in on the conspiracy. Even Ted Kennedy, Barbara Boxer, Nancy Pelosi, Kos, Atrios. Even Bush’s critics are intentionally plotting to make Bush look good!
The DU moonbat just might get around to the logical conclusion: that he himself is part of the conspiracy! Then his head will explode.
Just when I thought the loony left couldn’t possibly get any loonier, it does.
PW in comment 1 has it right.
