The Age’s Jim Schembri responds to criticism of his column on blogging:
Most bloggers were devoid of reason, comprehension, intelligence or wit. However, one deeply offended soul did say the article “sucks like absolute gravitational collapse”, which is a pretty funny line—and one that bears a striking, though no doubt unintentional, resemblance to my line of a few weeks earlier about how something “sucked more than the black hole at Cygnus X-1”. Coincidence is all part of life.
When it comes to black hole suckage, Schembri is treading a well-worn path himself. So far as the plagiarism accusation (however coyly phrased) goes, I’m hoping for a quick retraction from Schembri and The Age.
