Kim Beazley has never looked more resolute than when defending his right to eat.

- I am with the Beazer on this one. If you don’t look resolute at a BBQ someone will nick the last snag and pilfer the only can of XXXX. Presumably this is an ALP branch barbie or something so you should also watch your back as well as the tucker.Posted by Major Anya on 2005 11 13 at 03:59 PM • permalink
- Did you notice on the link to the ABC website that one of the headlines is: ‘Bomber’s wife arrested for Amman blasts’.
I’d have thought the fat turd would have more to worry about than where his next half a cow is coming from.Posted by AlphaMikeFoxtrot on 2005 11 13 at 04:08 PM • permalink
- the alp have made some very bizare claims about the IR reforms so far.
*aussie workers will become slaves
*no more weekend bbq
*lower wages
*end of civilisation
*earth will stop spinning on its axis
*all bosses are eeevil bastards
*chooks will stop laying eggs
*cows will stop milkingafter making all these extraordinary predictions the bellowing beazley will look like a complete numbnut if it turns out ok.
- Slightly OT but about Big Kim.
How is it the big fella marries a woman whose surname is ‘Anus’ – and she chooses to keep her maiden name.
Now that’s what I call unlucky.

- Is it just me or do others see the incredible marketing opportunity available to Beazer and the ALP with the announcement of an Australian series of “The Biggest Loser”?
In my view, Kimbo qualifies on at least two counts – political and personal. He is on his way to some sort of record when he gets his expected thrashing from JH and the Libs, should he remain Leader of the ALP at the time of the next election. Secondly, no-one would dispute the need for the big tub of lard to shed quite a few kg’s, if only for the relief of our nursing and ambo community. Can you imagine any poor bastard having to lift him when he has his inevitable coronary?
There you have it. Pure marketing gold. Beazley and The Biggest Loser – manna from heaven.

- #5, they make all those claims by reflex these days. Remember:
– the GST
– the first round of IR changes
– partial privatisation of Telstra
– refusal to sign KyotoPosted by Art Vandelay on 2005 11 13 at 08:18 PM • permalink
- btw, there was a great moment when a reporter interviewed a member of the government about working on weekends. He said something like “obviously Kim Beazley doesn’t have anything against *you* working on weekends since he called a press conference on a Sunday”.Posted by Art Vandelay on 2005 11 13 at 08:31 PM • permalink
- Since Tim has not posted about it, and while we are on the subject of ALP types predicting the end of commentariat civilisation, etc …
Bracks of Brakistan has the nerve to come out punching on the subject of sedition (Iowahawk could have used that in his musical … to the tune of Tradition)
and the predicted assault on free speech!
Bracks’ law on vilification has seen two christian ministers hauled before the courts for making a bit of a joke of Islamic teachings. No outcry there about freedom of speech. No cadres of free speech defenders taking to the streets or the corridors of the Victorian parliament. No media ullulation, no placards waving in the speakers corners of your local park.
SHAME!
- #14 spot on about the brack’s hypocracy.
those two pastors were dragged thru the star chamber for quoting the koran at a private gathering of like minded people and commiting the heinous criminal act of larfing at the koran!!!
and yet bracks is now complaining about the sedition laws……interesting that no MSM journo has picked up on his inconsistencies.
- You’re right Vinny. At least a reasonable letter on the topic made it into today’s Australian:
WHILE Steve Bracks claims sedition laws breach freedom of speech, it was the Victorian Premier who brought in the religious vilification laws that completely gag anyone who dares to challenge Islamic propaganda or expose the real text of Islam. While the media happily print/show every piece of unchallenged Islamic propaganda, other views and any of the massive amount of text that underlies Islamic violence against non-Muslims, the repression of women or the aims of political Islam rarely appear. While many Muslims may ignore such text or want to hide it, others follow it exactly and teach it. Even if some Muslims are “offended”, we must have the right to publicly challenge ideologies that threaten our society and our children’s safety, equality, freedom and future. Do we really think that if we don’t mention it, it will go away? I don’t and I want my freedom of speech back. Attacking an ideology isn’t an attack on individuals. The only way to stop the march of this frightening ideology is to expose its text and aims and show that they are unacceptable in our society.

- I was a kitchenhand at Telfer goldmine in the late 80’s. We had Kimbo through on what was supposed to be a friendly meet and greet of the workers. It was breakfast and the ALP hangers on and union bosses were there when the old ding kitchen hand spoke to kimbo. “Isa voting for jonny howard this time” he said to Kimbo and co. Kim to his credit arked up a bit and said why. the old ding never missed a beat and said ” Cos labor is all fucked now”, Kim spoke back ” well Im labor and Im not fucked”.
Was fun being there to see it.Posted by thefrollickingmole on 2005 11 15 at 12:26 PM • permalink
- Labor in WA ran a scare campaign back in the early 90s: “If Richard Court gets in you’ll be working for $2 an hour!”
Court got in.

- Ah, Ck, there you are. I’m beginning to sound like one of the animals in Madagascar, the animated film. Running around trying to find one another after they get tossed off a ship. Never mind.
Sigh. I find that I go to bed later and later. It’s 2am here, I don’t now where you are, Ck, but I’m in California.
- ekw – aauw – you poor darling. Go to bed, GO TO BED. You have earned it, even if you didn’t get the #500.
Another thread, and tomorrow is another day, and another 500 beckons my dear. Rest, rest your digits; we will still be here tomorrow.
Nigh’ nigh’ Sweet dreams.
I’m in Melbourne, 9.15 pm here, but I’m exhausted from this effort.
