A career change for a climate changer:
High profile Australian science commentator Dr Karl Kruszelnicki is turning his attention to politics.
Dr Karl, as he is best known, said today he would run for the NSW Senate as a candidate with the Climate Change Coalition after becoming “more and more concerned” with the way big issues were being tackled.
Interestingly, petrolhead Dr Karl is the proud owner of a V8 Monaro. For turning against the internal combustion community, he deserves to be tased.
omfg that photo just made me jump out of my chair!
While I enjoyed Dr Karl’s enthusiasm for science, I’m gonna call Glenn Reynolds on him:
“Until those who most loudly proclaim global warming doom actually materially change their lifestyles, I’ll not worry”
I used to own a v8 monaro – pre-wedding – pre-child – sigh …
Dr Karl used to be a taxi driver, so he does know everything!

You bastards miss the point entirely (once again!!!). It’s not about what Karl does about gerbil warmening, it’s about what he can make all the plebs do about it. It’s for your own good you know.
My second car was a HQ Monaro like this one only blue with white stripes. Smashed it up pretty good one night after destroying a bottle and a half of vodka. That was well before that pesky old Random Breath Testing thing came in.

Dr. Karl Konstantynopolitanczykowianeczka is one smart cookie! He knows that climate change is a croc. Climate change? “Climate Shmange” he says. Only fools and horses would believe it.
“But hey. If a big fat oaf like the Gorester can fandangle the plebs, a genius like me should be able to do it better”, he told ABC radio.
“Let Dr. Karl jump on the old AGW bandwagon, and secure Dr. Karl’s future into dotage. Ah, taxpayer funds. There’s nothing like it. To run your fingers through it like some brainy Scrooge McDuck. But you guys here at the ABC are already onto this lurk”, Dr. Karl winked to the neophyte doing the interview.
“I know”, Dr Karl was heard to yodel, “let me get a slice of that juicy ssssssuperannuated Upper House action”.
And so, the fools nad horses voted for Dr. Karl who duly became Upper House Karl or somethink, and he got his big fat taxpayer pension and all the Konstantynopolitanczykowianeczka’s lived happily ever after.
Love of Christ, the fuckin midget.
Here’s MY carbon muncher with my best bud Brian is Southern Virginia during a day of groundhog hunting.
We killed a family of four just before I took that pic. ;^)

Think hes bad try this ..of the most powerful Democrats in Congress.. recipie for dealing with climate change.
The highlights.
“A 50-cent-a-gallon tax on gasoline and jet fuel, phased in over five years, on top of existing taxes.
_A tax on carbon, at $50 a ton, released from burning coal, petroleum or natural gas.
_Phaseout of the interest tax deduction on home mortgages for homes over 3,000 square feet. Owners would keep most of the deduction for homes at the lower end of the scale, but it would be eliminated entirely for homes of 4,200 feet or more….”
What will the moolah be used for?? ..”Some of the revenue would be used to reduce payroll taxes, but most would go elsewhere including for highway construction, mass transit, paying for Social Security and health programs and to help the poor pay energy bills…”
How popular is it likely to be??
“Rep. Pete Starke, D-Calif., has been trying unsuccessfully to get a carbon tax for 16 years.”
The Republicans should go to town on this Dem proposal, surely no-one would vote for it?

- #12 – Bonmot may be right to say cherchez le buck.
There are various ways to get funded, as this linked article explores.
- Karl’s sick of trying to persuade people, so now he wants to get into power so he can just tell them what to do.
Way to go Karl!

- The good Dr has a massive ABC engineered media profile. All the publicity money can’t buy folks.. and I hope Mrs Phat Phil understands the consequences of elbowing himself to one side of the political limelight.
Bit of a change from him leaving his little wireless programme to fly back to his little multi millionaire sheep station and his little trophy wife. He’ll have to get used to being Mr Patrice.
You guys have a political party called the Climate Change Coalition? Cool. Are they for or against?

#43–Some of the revenue would be used to reduce payroll taxes, but most would go elsewhere including for highway construction, mass transit, paying for Social Security and health programs and to help the poor pay energy bills.
What? Where are the proposals for using this revenue to develop alternate energy sources and/or innovative ways to cap and contain emissions? So typical of Democrats (and politicians in general I’m afraid). No real desire to solve, or even mitigate, a perceived problem (one that many of them apparently consider the greatest we face today). No, just the desire to secure one more enormous revenue stream that the politicians in Washington can divvy up among themselves to fund pet projects and further solidify their base of power. Pain for us, gain for them. I’m fed up with the lot of them. That being said, there’s no way a proposal like this goes anywhere, especially in an election year. We may be stupid up here, but we’re not crazy.

You should see the damage around my place. A rogue dropbear had interbred with wombats and koalas and the resultant herd of mutants has attacked the local yowie herds. Because of this and the increased temperatures due climate change, it looks we’re in for a bumber crop of hoop snakes and lizardies again this year.
I blame the Climate Change Coalition for not making this an issue of national import. Sheesh, when a man can’t wander the boundary fence without being harassed by dropbear spawn and hoop snakes…
Never had the desire to own a V8,except for the one in my speed boat….But i did have a roll in the hay with the daughter of one of the original Monaro designer…..Lots of fun.
