Jyllands-Posten culture and arts editor Flemming Rose reflects on last year’s Motoon madness:
I think many people betrayed their own ideals. The history of the left, for instance, is a history of confronting authority—be it religious or political authority—and always challenging religious symbols and figures. In this case, they failed miserably. I think the left is in a deep crisis in Europe because of their lack of willingness to confront the racist ideology of Islamism. They somehow view the Koran as a new version of Das Kapital and are willing to ignore everything else, as long of they continue to see the Muslims of Europe as a new proletariat.
Read whole thing.
When you think about it, if the Left had bothered to realise that Islamists would kill them anyway then they are not doing anyone any favours. If they instead had put their effort into fighting Islamists it would obviously be such an asset because they never shut the fuck up.
Hence, at the moment, not only do we have one arm tied behind our backs whilst fighting terrorist murderers, it is being twisted by the ball-breaking bleating of the Left who insist on defending these murderers. What the hell is going on?
It is outrageous that this does not get more play by the MSM in this country. All they ever bray on about are their free speech rights. I’d bray with them, except they are all for denying the same right to individuals. The NYTs was all for McCain-Feingold. None of these people seem to understand that you don’t compromise a principle without destroying the benefits of the principle. What will be left to us if political speech is punished? If we are punished for reason, only force is left.
But what really bothers me today—and this hasn’t been reported very widely—is that right after the cartoon crisis, the Organization of the Islamic Conference at the United Nations sponsored a resolution condemning the “ridiculing of religion.”
The OIC sponsored a UN resolution condemning the “ridiculing of religion”.
That is, religion can be ridiculed, as long as it isn’t Islam.
- its gone from “socalism at any cost” thorugh to “collectivism of any sort” over on the left.
Apart from that allure of everyone doing what theyare told I cant think of another single thing thye have in common with the head choppers.
(apart from the default ani Americanism)

reason: Whose response disappointed you the most?
Rose: In Europe? Jacques Chirac, who lambasted [Jyllands-Posten] and then flew to Saudi Arabia the next week to sign a large weapons contract.
So…Chirac wasn’t a saint?

You arent missing anything, you just want some other poor citizen shlub to say it outloud, and have him be denounced on congressional-record for all time.
But here goes anyway.
They both hate the U.S.
Is there something im missing that they have in common?
Sure is Frollicking.
1. They’re all being oppressed by the Evil Conservatives and Jews.
2. They all want big government… except if it’s run by the Evil Conservatives and Jews.
3. They all think Evil Conservatives and Jews are… well, EVIL.
4. They are all idiots.
Abu Laban, the Danish imam that promoted the cartoons in the Arab world, was saying that we aren’t allowed to build mosques in Denmark, that the Koran is being censored, that we aren’t allowed to have our own cemeteries, that Muslims are almost on the verge of being sent to concentration camps. But the fact is that Muslims in Denmark enjoy more rights than they would in any Muslim country. In fact, two weeks ago a delegation from the Egyptian parliament were in Denmark and they were surprised when they spoke to Danish Muslims who said “we enjoy living here.”

I think it is that many lefties want a revolution (any revolution) and they assume they’ll end up on top in the end. After all, they say, socialism isn’t an option, it is an unstopable force of history. Marx said so.

When will people realise that Islam is not a religion, it is a murderous political creed. It is a breeding ground for thugs and bullies who are constantly trying to out do one another with craziness. The more they adhere to the Koran the crazier they become. It is no use expecting the so called moderate Muslims to speak out, if they did it would be a midnight knock on the door or worse!
The history of the left, for instance, is a history of confronting authority—be it religious or political authority—and always challenging religious symbols and figures.
Not quite. The left challenges an authority only insofar as that authority is ideologically incompatible with leftist thought. Otherwise it ignores or supports authority (see Castro, Chavez, etc.)

- #13. Howzat.
Precisely. The leftists/Islamists love anything that involves ‘victim-hood,’ ‘sacrifice’ (the dumbasses that do it that is) and correct ‘ideological’ thinking. It involves collective thinking, no individuality. In science fiction, I think the ‘Borg Collective’ probably sums that ‘cult’ up. Why they are allowed to immigrate to western nations is beyond me? Probably something to do with UN deals and treaties I suppose.
in March of this year the United Nations Human Rights Consul [sic], which is the highest international body in the world for the protection of human rights, passed a resolution condoning state punishment of people criticizing religion.
Flemming Rose thinks this, “is a big scandal”. I think that’s an understatement. Of course, given the composition of the body, it’s hardly surprising that they would come up with such an idiotic and nastily threatening resolution. On the other hand, stupid but influential people from within our own cultures have already produced similar laws, e.g., on “hate speech”, in the loonily vain hope that passing such laws will protect the terminally thin-skinned from ever being offended by anything anyone else might ever do or say, at least in relation to the usual HREOC major subject headings.
It used to be that whatever was not expressly banned was permitted. Now we’re getting closer and closer to a state in which whatever is not expressly permitted is banned. God save us all from dimwit, know-nothing, do-gooder, emotionally immature know-alls who aim for a career in politics.
- Perhaps the islamists are viewed as an expression of anti-imperialist anti-capitalist revolt.
The workers of the first world will never rise up and smash the bosses, but perhaps the seething hordes may be able to dismantle the structures of Western “power”.
I find it difficult to believe that all elements of the left are genuine nihilists, but it’s even harder to understand why so many seem to accept this enemy as a friend who can further supposedly progressive* agendas.
* A term beloved of lefties, so heavily laden with irony it surely must equal the appellation Peoples’ Democratic Republic when identifying some totalitarian shithole.
The history of the left, for instance, is a history of confronting authority*
and since there aren’t currently any substantial international head-of-state bogeymen, the Left, feeling guilt at their current affluence, turn on their Governments for not paying enough attention to causes such as the environment (Goreism) and supposedly oppressed minorities – Muslims.
*which goes to #9.2:
2. They all want big government… except if it’s run by another political wing.
- … in March of this year the United Nations Human Rights Consul, which is the highest international body in the world for the protection of human rights, passed a resolution condoning state punishment of people criticizing religion.
Oh, really? So what punishment can we anticipate for those who call all peoples of other religions Infidels?
The history of the left, for instance, is a history of confronting authority.
No it isn’t.
Only when they know that authority won’t kill them or throw them in prison….

- I gotta throw my 2 cents in…
The history of the left, for instance, is a history of confronting authority*It doesn’t confront authority willy-nilly. It confronts percieved powerful groups in Western societies: whether it’s multinationals or a local football club.
That’s the appeal to hot-headed alienated yoof (such as me, some time ago).
But once they get any power at all, Leftists morph effortlessly into busybody control freaks.

Failure by MSM to publish the motoons was a defining moment similar to prominent feminists’ support for Bill Clinton in the Monica Lewinsky affair. Both showed that they were prepared to betray the very principles which underpin their existence in pursuit of a minor advantage. That is why people are turning to alternative media to be informed on current events and young women shun the harridans of yesteryear.

I think the left is in a deep crisis in Europe because of their lack of willingness to confront the racist ideology of Islamism.
I hope so. It’s time that old ideology got swept clean, aired out, and let’s face it, junked. Along with fundamentalist Islam, it’s an impossible ideal for human beings to live up to, a complete denial of human nature, and deserves to vanish into history’s dust bin.
Never before in modern times, on such a scale, have Muslims insisted upon applying Islamic law to what non-Muslims are doing in non-Muslim country. It has never happened before.
It will happen again. Beyonce is a classic example of another form of ART being subjected to supression by an Islamic country. It may not be a hanging work of art, but Beyonce butt is a working piece of booty art.
“All foreign artistes need to understand our culture” i.e. that is cover up slutty western slut artiste”
Beyonce you’re wonderful, about time someone said Butt out idiots!
