An anti-terror operation is underway in Melbourne, according to the Herald Sun, with particular attention being paid to Helmut Kirsch:

Kirsch has a history of violence and was a member of the right-wing National Action group before converting to Islam.

It’s a popular blend. Also being monitored is “Preston-based fundamentalist group Hizb ut-Tahrir.” Here’s some background on our Hizby buddies, who are banned in many Arab states. In Australia, they get columns in The Age.

UPDATE. Hizby-led Motoon protests in Indonesia:

Some 5,000 protesters, including many children, gathered in front of the U.S. embassy in Jakarta in the morning, with banners reading “Warning, Bush=evil”, “Get out from Muslim countries” and “America enemy of the world”.
