It’s never a good idea to take on a retired Marine:

The elderly man was walking with a grocery bag in each arm when the boy approached him with a large knife, [Santa Rosa police Sgt. Steve] Bair said.

The boy said, “Old man, give me your wallet or I’ll cut you,” Bair said. The man told the boy he was a former Marine who fought in three wars and had been threatened with knives and bayonets, Bair said.

The man then put his bags on the ground and told the boy that if he stepped closer he would be sorry. When the boy stepped closer, the man kicked him in the groin, knocking him to the sidewalk, Bair said. The ex-Marine picked up his grocery bags and walked home, leaving the boy doubled over, Bair said.

He’s 84 years old.

UPDATE. A correction: not a Marine. Our oldtimer served with the 101st Airborne.

“I spent 33 years in the Marines. Most of my time being a high-classed muscle man for Big business, for Wall Street and the bankers. In short, I was a racketeer for capitalism. I helped purify Nicaragua for the international banking house of Brown Brothers in 1909-1912. I helped make Mexico and especially Tampico safe for American oil interests in 1914. I brought light to the Dominican Republic for American sugar interests in 1916. I helped make Haiti and Cuba a decent place for the National City Bank boys to collect revenue in. I helped in the rape of half a dozen Central American republics for the benefit of Wall Street….”

    1. #15 If your point is that a former Marine felt like he was being used to enable the corporatisation by military force of various countries, then why did the good general push through for 3 decades? There are a litany of former service personnel worldwide who felt their contribution was not what they believed it to be. There’s far more who did understand what their service meant.

Yet another marine has had charges dropped, there’s not going to be too many defendants by the time it gets to trial if ever. The prosecution has already had to lessen charges, and even so are fining it increasingly difficult to proceed with these reduced indictments- what witnesses they have are less reliable than a North Korean power plant, and seeing as the whole thing is being driven by a traitorous piece of shit like John Murtha, aided and abetted by the equally vile Time magazine, the whole thing will likely go tits up before the first hearing, leaving the Judge Advocate’s office looking like an inept witch-hunter, and rightly so.

    1. #71 “A video taken by NBC newsman Kevin Sites during the Fallujah operation shows several wounded Iraqi men in a mosque with heavily armed U.S. Marines standing over them. The captives had already been searched for weapons the previous day and had been left on the floor overnight. One Marine can be heard on the video footage saying, “He’s fucking faking he’s dead.” This soldier then raises his rifle and fires right into the man’s head. Blood splatters onto the wall. A second Marine says, “Well, he’s dead now.” The execution of a wounded captive is a war crime under the Geneva Conventions.

What Happened: The military ruled that the soldier in the Sites video acted “consistent with the established rules of engagement, the law of armed conflict and the Marine’s inherent right of self-defense.” No charges were filed.

The only charge stemming from the brutal assault on Fallujah has been against Marine sergeant Jose Luis Nazario, accused of murdering two Iraqi men. Nazario made a call on his radio after his squad captured four men in a house. An officer asked Nazario over the radio, “Are they dead yet?” When Nazario responded that the captives were still alive, he was allegedly told to “make it happen.” Nazario was charged only with voluntary manslaughter and allowed to remain free on $50,000 bail in Riverside, California, where he had become a cop after leaving the Marines. Another soldier is being investigated for executing the other two Iraqis in the same incident but has not been charged. The officer who gave the order to execute the captured men has not been identified or charged.

The fact the officer who gave the order has not been charged is probably another reason why ‘Winter Soldier’ has been a success…

    1. An Old Marine’s
      Bittersweet Encounter
      With Today’s Youth
      The boy drew a knife
      And said, ‘Give me cash,
      Or I’ll see your guts.’
      He made the blade flash.

      The Old Marine saw
      The knife and he sighed,
      And set down his bags
      And gently replied.

      ‘Boy, there is one thing
      I will guarantee:
      My guts are just what
      You don’t want to see.’

      The boy tried to talk,
      But there was no sound;
      The Old Marine grabbed
      His bags from the ground.

      Business concluded
      On this thoughtful note:
      ‘Don’t try to talk with
      Your nuts in your throat.’

      ‘It’s sad getting old,’
      The Old Marine said,
      ‘Your nuts ought to be
      In Denver instead.’

The troll whos currently fingerprinting with feces appears to have gained his first bit of info from Nexus magazine.
Unfortunately their site appears to be down at the moment or id link to a few of their articles on zero point energy, UFO’s, past lives and out old favourite David Ike.Nice base of facts to run your life on weirdo.

See the difference between slug balls such as yourself and most of the people here can be summed up in one of your own posts.

“..THE US military has set dates for the court martials of four Marines accused of gang-raping a woman in Japan.
The woman, who was 19 at the time of the October incident in Hiroshima, said the soldiers raped her in a car, then stole her money..”

You read that and see bad US army.
I read that and say bad individual members of the US army, I then see they are facing court martials, and if found guilty will be put in a prison which (from a mates experience) is far more punishing than any civillian prison ever is.
That tells me they are quite capable of policing their own.

Still you just keep fapping off to that old footage of beheadings…

    1. Um…to return to the topic of this posting, however briefly…

I wonder at the vague explanation of the perp: “male, 15 or 16 years old’’ covers an awful lot of territory.  A hint as to hair color and complexion might narrow the field a bit.

Anyway it’s a nice pick-me-up story for a Sunday morning 🙂 I bet when the old guy got home his wife said “Did you find everything OK?’’ and he said “Yeah’’ without even telling her about the little pause in his walk home.

      or with former beauty queens.

Miss America 1944 has a talent that likely has never appeared on a beauty
pageant stage: She fired a handgun to shoot out a vehicle’s tires and stop
      an intruder.

Venus Ramey, 82, confronted a man on her farm in south-central Kentucky last
week after she saw her dog run into a storage building where thieves had
previously made off with old farm equipment.

Ramey said the man told her he would leave. “I said, ‘Oh, no you won’t,’ and
I shot their tires so they couldn’t leave,” Ramey said.

    1. But Smedley outlined the tradition of the Marines…who are you to contradict him..?

MG Butler lived up to the tradition of the Marines, he didn’t “outline” them.  The Marines were formed in 11775, so he had plenty of tradition to build upon.

And I don’t have to contradict MG Butler, your quote of his was made after he retired from the Marines.  When he was speaking as a private citizen.  So, applying some of that famous leftie nuance, I would not be contradicting MG Butler, but (as you put it), “Smedley”.

It’s sad that he chose to be bitter about being passed over for Commandant.  Butler was one helluva Marine, but he angered too many of his civilian superiors.  I’m sure that you missed this during your intellectual dishonesty, but that’s not something you do as a member of the US armed forces.

Butler was a great combat Marine, not so much in peace time.

    1. I didn’t see this in the huge thread so far but it should be noted.

    1. 1) Off-Topic but maybe not so much:  Dith Pran passed away from cancer.  He was the original interpreter that served as the basis for the interpreter that got left behind in “The Killing Fields.” If you haven’t seen that film, you should, esp. the likes of Vincennes.

Given the loud cries from certain segments for withdrawal from Iraq, now is a good time to review what happened when we withdrew from Vietnam .

“The regime of Pol Pot, bent on turning Cambodia back into a strictly agrarian society, and his Communist zealots were blamed for the deaths of nearly 2 million of Cambodia’s 7 million people.”

Come to think of it, there’s a big overlap of the Withdraw from Iraq subset of society with the Greenie Turn Us Back to an Agrarian Society subset.

      I’m just sayin’

      2) On-topic:  The marine did a good deed.  If you let thugs get away with thuggery, they only go on to more thuggery – most likely against people who are not as well equipped for defense as this man was.  People like me, for instance YES!!  I am VERY grateful that people like that marine exist, and exercise their prowess against thugs.

    1. What “Vincennes” failed to note, among other things, was that Gen. Butler didn’t seem to have a problem with his orders during his 30+ year career.

He did seem to take issue with having been passed over as commandant of the Marine Corps, after which he retired from service.

Then he took up a new career in public speaking and writing books. In the very isolationist 1930s, he certainly came up with material that sold.

“Vincennes” also leaves a lot unsaid about the Haditha incident, particularly the results of the investigation of the troops involved.

But then, that wouldn’t do his argument much good, would it?

    1. Thanks for the website link of our guest Pogria. Did anyone check out the books section? Camus, Dostoyevsky etc etc. Talk about a generic “books to make me look like a deep intellectual” list. There’s an internet principle that people who actually had read those authors wouldn’t feel the need to post them all up on the internet. It’s sort of an literary – those who talk about it the most do it the least – sort of thing.

I don’t know if that is actually him, but, like you said, check out the reading list!!!!

It’s almost as if there’s a generic range of lefty spaces to choose from.

They all come complete with the required reading and music lists, quotations, and cut and paste articles to show those conservatives just who they’re messing with!

All you have to do is “insert picture here”, and you’re ready to go! hahahahaha

    1. I expected the followup like this:
“The cop added, ‘I only mention this incident because the young man has filed a charge against the old man for an unprovoked attack.
Since the old man did not pick up any evidence [like the knife] he won’t be able to prove he acted in self defence. A civil case for reduced fertility is also expected if there is no criminal conviction.  We also have anti-vigilante laws that will apply.’”

    1. Vincennes, if you were dedicated to the truth you wouldn’t be looking at Kevin Sites, believing that Winter Soldier is a success, and cherry picking. Try Michael Yon for information of what is going on in Iraq. There will always be those that disagree with America’s foreign policy, but they are far outnumbered by those who agree.

You and your fellows need to ask yourselves, how does the enemy see my “dissent”. Your comments and actions get your fellow Americans, and civilians killed. BTW, why is the Left not interested in Afghanistan? Where were your protests when we went into Kosovo/Bosnia under President Clinton, 10 years ago? Why weren’t you protesting the 7500 that died under Clinton?
