Three face terrorism charges in Melbourne:

One of three men charged with terrorism-related offences has told a court this afternoon he is a victim of a police plot against Muslims.

Brunswick man Bassam Raad, charged with belonging to and helping finance a terrorist organisation, made the accusation during an unsuccessful bail application at Melbourne Magistrates Court.

“You may not believe me but I am innocent. They have framed me,” he told Magistrate Paul Smith.

“Because I’m a Muslim this (anti-terrorism legislation) affects me. These (court officials) are all non-Muslims and you all work against us.”

Bassam Raad, 24, described how police arrived with batons outside his house on Friday evening and arrested him, and said officers accused him of having a machine gun.

“I own a $200 car. How would I have the money to buy a machine gun?”

Poverty breeds terrorism. Mr Raad and one of his co-accused were last noticed behaving in an (allegedly) interventionist fashion outside the court appearance of other terror-accused folk.

    1. “Why do you hate me?” he asked (as he repeatedly punched a cameraman in the face).
Not a real quote, of course, but symbolic of the schizophrenic behavior of these radicals.

“I own a $200 car. How would I have the money to buy a machine gun?” Oh, I dunno, maybe it was a gift from the local chapter of the Islamic Society for the Support of Moral Uplift.

    1. These people (the Bassam Raad’s of the world, gee wonder what vile, evil group of 7th Century thinkers HE belongs, to?) have convinced the Left AND MSM (same) that THEY are in fact the victims and that WE, the free Western world and it’s philosophy are the hated tyrants.

    1. This is framing.

Not this “You may not believe me but I am innocent. They have framed me”.

What you got bozo, is caught.

    1. Maybe he has a $200 car BECAUSE he spent all of his money on THE machine gun!

    1. #5 El Cid: It was quite a party. The last thing I remembered, I had challenged Wronwright to a duel and had staggered out into Tim’s yard looking for something handy (lawn gnomes at 20 paces; had to be a first).

At least 19 deaths in TN because of the storm.

Yep. Sad and may their souls rest peacefully.

As mentioned in on a previous thread what we got was mild compared to what could have been, a shattered windshield. I’m in the mountains of East Tennessee. Believe the 19 souls we lost in West TN.

The Big Boy Upstairs (should one believe) works in mysterious ways.

I’m to rotten to take…he/she/it would send me straight to hell (should one believe).

    1. Oh, so if you’re a Muslim you are by (Muslim) definition affected by anti-terrorism legislation. A succinct admission.

    1. Did I hear a snippet on the news this AM that one of the three people recently arrested in Melbourne in connection with terrorism has a mental illness? He’s had two eposides since he’s been in police custody. He suffers from auditory hallucinations. I wonder where this is going?

    1. #12. Yep he has been in bother with mental illness according to the news I heard. So now lawyers will be falling over themselves lining up to sue the government[us tax payers] on his behalf for illegal detention or something. They will think of something.
There’s already a queue of such cases, probably keep the courts tied up for years..
That’s why we import these people.

    1. It amazes me, you know.

The poor illegal immigrants assylum seekers, locked up – it’s given them mental problems, particularly the little kiddies. (This is assuming, of course, that any crap they have already been through has left them unscathed!)

Recently an immigrant from the UK, who lives here with her husband and 4 year old child, was told by DIMIA that she had to put on weight or she would be sent back to the UK. She has a glutin intolerance (coeliac disease), which, once it is diagnosed, can be managed with very careful elimination from the diet of all glutin. They told her that she had to put on 8kg, because she was too skinny and could be a drain on our health system.

I’d rather have a coeliac than one of these other nut jobs.

In the US, if you have to buy your own tools and work supplies, that makes you an independent contractor…

Maybe he’s trying to set up a tax defense: “Your honor, I cannot be a conspirator!  Here is my form 1099!”

    1. Why do the NSW police sound engineered in relation to the revenge attacks? Why aren’t they letting the courts decide rather than consulting their own lawyers first? Overheard them talking of the honourable thing to do in media statement? Sounds as if they’ve turned Islamic, and maybe they’ve consulted a fatwa allah for guidance on this revenge decision. I’m wondering if 7 will host a Where are they now.. The revenge series in 2020? Mr morgan, please!!

Mind you, they did a great job with the model case.

    1. #22 (I hope you are referring to the arrest of Gordon Wood in London? – or I’ll be embarrassed)

I was delighted to hear of the arrest re Caroline Byrne – for more info google her name, Gordon Wood Offset Alpine arson million. I will be very interested to see how this pans out.

However, was annoyed to hear Renee Rivkin described as “Disgraced Stockbroker” – for god’s sake, he’s dead. Let it go. He was described on ABC as “Late stockbroker”, which I thought was much better.

Strewth, it was in Hansard, and The Bulletin, I will look forward to more information in The Bulletin.

      (Hansard = Parliamentary transcript)
