St. Mother is moving to Texas:
War protester Cindy Sheehan has purchased a 5-acre plot in Crawford with some of the insurance money she received after her son was killed in Iraq …
“We decided to buy property in Crawford to use until George’s resignation or impeachment, which we all hope is soon for the sake of the world,” Sheehan, whose oldest son Casey was killed in Iraq in 2004, said in a newsletter set to be sent to supporters Thursday. “I can’t think of a better way to use Casey’s insurance money than for peace, and I am sure that Casey approves.”
Price paid: $52,500. At least she isn’t wasting the money on food.

- For a start, I’m pretty sure Casey wouldn’t approve, given that he voluntarily joined to the army, and re-enlisted knowing that he would be sent to Iraq.
Secondly, George W. will be leaving the White House in just over two years anyway… St Mother will then have to sell up and buy a block next door to Condoleeza Rice’s estate (if we’re lucky). And if Cindy’s peaceniks are like most hippies in their upkeep and value-adding skills, the resale value of the Crawford land will have plummeted.
And thirdly, I just can’t shake the suspicion that Cindyland will be used to generate conflict, not peace.

“I can’t think of a better way to use Casey’s insurance money…”
I dunno, a tombstone would’ve been nice.

It will be a nightmare for her. Her self-destruction will be something to behold.
Oh I think we’ve been watching her self-destruct since the beginning. In the end, she will be left with nothing but the bitter aftertaste of her own bile—just as she deserves. If ever anyone deserved to die in lonely obscurity, it is St. Ma.
- Her self-destruction will be something to behold.
I’ve found myself holding that attitude about pretty much all lefties. Arguing with them has become next to useless since the leftoid pseudo-religious fervour keeps hitting new highs (lows?), so I’m taking solace in the fact that pretty much any committed lefty I’ve ever encountered was wallowing in their self-inflicted misery, and was just generally being a miserable prick.
I know it’s not very nice to gloat, but since they’re of no other use, I’ll take them for entertainment.
- $52,500 for 5 acres? I don’t know much about US property prices but that would have to be 5 acres of desert and a scungy house on tank supply, wouldn’t it?
The equivalent in Australia buys you a fibro and iron cottage in Norseman, WA.

Maybe she forced the price down by threatening media action on the owners…
Perhaps $52500 is what Cindy paid; the rest of the bill being footed by…Oh, I don’t know…Soros, perhaps?

- Gad! Is Cindy going to be flouncing around Crawford dressed like a horse in the circus (remember the pink plaid peasant costume?). I’m not at all a fan of the doctrine of eminent domain, particularly as that doctrine has been much abused lately, but desperate times call for desperate measures! Surely the mayor or county manager or some other local government magnifico can devise an excuse for condemning her property in the public interest.
- Thank you for that link, 91B30. God speed to the Velez brothers, and my condolences to the Velez brothers.
As for St. Cindy….from the second link:
Fonseca confirmed he never indicated to his new neighbors that the land would be transferred to Sheehan, but he said that was always the plan. He said the $52,500 used to pay for the property — a spread of rustic, wooded prairie with no houses — came from Sheehan and her Gold Star Families for Peace.
Fonseca said he acted as “an agent” for Sheehan, negotiating the purchase and closing the deal with Ramsey.
How sweet. I guess Cindy isn’t popular in Crawford, from a couple web sites I’ve seen, and needed an agent.
Yeah, a real role model.

- No tombstone for her brave son, but she takes the $ from his insurance (paid for by the US taxpayers) and buys investment property for herself, using additional funds from the suckers who’ve contributed to her lunacy. First order of business, a great cookout on the “ranch” to celebrate her continuing hunger strike. Hey, Ditch, Don’t forget to invite the neighbors.

Hmmmm, maybe on health grounds…..

- Jeff,
Here’s what the younger Velez brother had to say about going to Afghanistan (given that he could have gotten out of it after the death of his brother in Iraq):
“If you’re asking me if I’m afraid to die for my family, my God and my country, then no,” Andrew Velez told his father before deploying to Afghanistan in March. “Every man has to overcome fear and the only way to do that is to meet it face to face.”
It makes me furious that people like this will get almost no attention from the media, but Cindy Sheehan-whose own son also reenlisted to return to Iraq-is given all sorts of play to hurt the war effort. American schoolchildren should know about the Velez brothers and Rick Rescorla and Paul Smith, but our celebrity driven culture glorifies blubbering morons like “the peace mom”. There is something seriously wrong with that.
- Judging by recent photos I’ve seen of the ponderous peacenik, she’s gotta be eating at least a steer a day.
I don’t think five acres is going to be sufficient to support a cattle herd large enough to keep her body mass at present levels.

Home prices vary wildly in the US. Most of the horror stories about grossly overpriced properties come from places like New York City, Miami, Las Vegas, San Francisco and “the” OC (where a 1300 square foot condo twenty feet from high use railroad tracks and across the street from a charming community known as “toker’s town” will set you back almost $600,000). Texas, for the most part, is one of the cheapest areas in the US, although home prices are finally starting to rise there.
- One of my favorite Sheehan-related moments is a conversation with a lefty co-worker. It ended like this:
Lefty: He was a kid who didn’t know what he was getting into!
Me: He was 24. And you do know he re-enlisted, right?
Lefty: (after standing for several moments with his mouth half-open) Well. Gotta run.

Indeed. All we can do is soldier on, in spite of the idiots.

- #8, Just hope she built it well enough to hold her weight…
This poor example of our species (I almost wrote humanity, but thats just plain wrong) makes me feel sick to my stomach every time I consider what kind of mind could act like this.

I’m sure Casey would approve.
The poor people of Crawford, Texas.
