He has harnessed people power to stop the sale by convincing very cynical voters that he was different. Then he proved to be the same, almost in an INSTANT!
Why, it’s like Margo’s change of opinion on Mark Latham.
The Telstra story isn’t over yet, folks. Senator Barnaby Joyce will get so many emails from pissed off Ozzies [Imre Salusinszky asks: “Nelson or Osbourne?”] – and irate contact in other forms – he’ll either change his mind or collapse as a centred human being.
At which point he’ll join Margo’s bi-tri-quadpolar Webdiary team. Speaking of which, Webdiary insight artist Robert Bosler—may the winning energy be upon him—has evidently commenced making soup.
Can Margo please explain to me where Barnaby said he would never vote for the sale of Telstra?
I thought his position had been that for him to support the sale of Telstra the gummint must stash away a chunk of money to ensure that the telco services are properly provided to the bush (irrespective of which telco provides the cable/satellite/carrier pigeon)
It appears that Margo’s been moonlighting as a subtitle writer for Star Wars episode 3:

So Margo is championing Telstra? Hmmm …
Telstra needs to compete in the real world. Ex Government businesses such as QANTAS and the Commonwealth Bank have prospered and recently recorded good profits. Telstra has also recorded good profits because of their monopoly position.
I decided today to move my Telstra mobile (four fones in family), land line and internet to Optus after visiting an Optus franchise store in Miranda today. Optus wanted my business, Telstra didn’t. I called Telstra several times, but they were quite unresponsive. A pity. Now what to do with my Telstra shares …
