Democrat Samantha Dunn falls for a Republican. Hostility ensues:

My friends – Westside-Topanga-artist-former-Peace-Corps-writer-multicultural-all-is-Zen pals – first questioned my sanity, then became angry. After my buddy Rachel was sure I wasn’t kidding about the whole Republican thing, she demanded to know how I could even stand to be in a room with someone who had worked for anti-choice candidates.

So much for choice.

Laura and Veronica were concerned: Was it hormonal? Was I that desperate to find a straight, employed, single man in Southern California? … Other longtime acquaintances rescinded a dinner offer when I told them whom I was bringing.

She should tell them he’s a member of the Taliban. They’d be cool with it.

    1. She doesn’t mention whether the reaction of her “friends” has made her reconsider a few things. Did she have a cluebat moment?

    1. If she wants an employed mate, she’d almost have to go Republican.

Unless you consider a college professor as employed….not subsidized.

    1. “And besides, he’s, like, ten times better in the sack than any liberal I’ve ever known. I mean, he does this thing with his fingertips and I just start to moan…. Wait, am I thinking out loud again.”

    1. Re #1, W.C., that was pretty much my thought as well.  But that’s how she grew up, based on her description of her mother.  Not that it excuses her cluelessness, of course, but it does explain it.  Democrats have behaved like that since FDR, God knows why.

    1. Dunno; I’ve dated a bunch of lefty women and their friends were mostly pretty sensible about it. But they’ll always have one or two friends where they ask me not to mention politics.

Sounds like this chick has abnormally moronic friends, even for a lefty.

    1. Apparently, you have to be hormonal and/or desperate before there’s any hope of finding a straight, employed, single man in Southern California. Filtering for “progressive” just isn’t going to help bag your quarry, unless you’re searching for gay and unemployed.

    1. I’m reminded of an old “Saturday Night Live” sketch (back when SNL was funnier than it is now) entitled “The Last Straight Man In San Francisco”.  This was back in the late 1970’s, but that was clearly the trend even back then.

Alas, I can’t find any video clips of that, so it must be lost to the ages.

This raises the question whether we should be perpetuating their DNA…

    1. If Only We Could Raise
      Their Consciousness…
When left-wing females choose to mate
With males in the same aggrieved state,
      They’re prone to engage
      In spasms of rage —
      A tragic but well-deserved fate.

    1. If she wants a male with some self-respect and a pair of balls, she’d have to go Rebublican.  We also like sex with women much more than worrying about the environment or the global economy.  Actually we like it more than anything else except for sports and beer.  Maybe. That could be an important factor to her.

    1. Don’t know why she was surprised somebody who looks like Steve McQueen would be a Republican.

      Steve McQueen was a Republican.

And I enjoy the implication that the counterpoint to the leftists who cut personal ties are balanced out by the Republican operative who found even Schwartzenegger’s chief of staff too left-wing. That’s Susan Kennedy, a former state Democratic Party official and top adviser to former Gov. Gray Davis

On one side, Republicans who think other Republicans shouldn’t hire Democrats in political jobs. On the other, Democrats who want to put ‘no Republicans allowed’ signs in public restaurants. Symmetry.

    1. How a right wing male chooses a mate – go for the one with the biggest tits.

How a left wing female chooses a mate – go for the male who is the biggest tit.

    1. Ms Dunn has apparently not stumbled onto the fact that Schwartzeneggar is Republican in name only. Leftists have nothing to fear from his policies.

He has given Dimocrats everything they wanted, and they love him. The budget deficit is far worse than the one that got him elected.

California is getting what it deserves.

    1. “Was I that desperate to find a straight, employed, single man in Southern California?”

LOL. I can imagine that being delivered in a perfectly earnest tone by her liberal friends, completely unaware of what they’ve just implied about liberal Californian men.

    1. I’m incredibly amused at how the “caring,” “feeling” Lefties are so incredibly intolerant, biased, bigoted and evidently totally terrified of Republicans to the point that they won’t even let them play guitar.  How droll.  No wonder the Governor of NC used the word “pansy”.

    1. In school, I knew a girl who referred to herself as a “lesbian” feminist.  She was such a complete feminist that she was 100% lesbian. Maybe 200%. She was such a totally hardcore lesbian feminist that she only dated men (as far as I was aware).

      (metaphors ahead)
Her feminists friends convinced her that bicycle riding is always and inherently a violation. Even if she enjoyed riding a bicycle and wanted to go for a bicycle ride she shouldn’t. Rollerblading was also unacceptable because it was considered demeaning. Horseback riding, however, was okay because having it not be acceptable would have been oppressive to gay men. The only problem was that she didn’t like horseback riding and it made her butt sore.  Eventually she shopped around until she found a feminist who told her what she wanted to hear. The explanation didn’t contradict the above but I can’t really explain the logic involved.

I think politics makes some people a bit crazy (or they start out a bit crazy).

    1. I have to admit that I dropped a woman over politics.  She was a Communist and was going to International ANSWER rallies where the protesters were denouncing the Afghanistan Campaign and calling for Israel’s destruction.  Communism and genocidal antisemitism were just too much for me.

    1. Left unsaid is the fact that it is easier to get laid uh, nomcommital sex, among lefty women than it is among conservative women.  That’s been a known among men since the mid sixties.  They are also easier to spot (look for the VW bug, new or old style, with all the bumper stickers).  She won’t have to worry too long about her conservative boyfriend…he’ll drop her soon.
