Did you know that Bob Ellis had a website? Me neither. Seems he quit posting last year; here’s an entry from 2003, in which Spongiform Encephalitis Bob complains about inaccurate right-wingers:

Wolfowitz. Rice. Rumsfeld. Akerman. McGuinness. Pearson. Albrechtson. Henderson. Blair. The yattering adolescents on Fox News. Why if their judgements, their predictions and their logical reasoning are so bad do they keep their jobs?

Bob Ellis predicted a Kerry landslide, said Osama bin Laden was “almost certainly not” responsible for September 11, and promised to destroy my career.

These days Ellis writes for the Byron Shire Echo.

    1. Why if their judgements, their predictions and their logical reasoning are so bad do they keep their jobs?

If he thought about that a while, and was honest with himself, the answer would be obvious.

Actually Tim, if you hadn’t mentioned that, no one would even know that much.  Without you, the likes of Ellis and Margo would remain in the realm of the unknown.  Maybe they should pay you a fee for the privilege of being made a horse’s ass.

Good thing I recalibrated my Irony Meter, or that would’ve broken another needle.

    1. Speaking of the great Bo Belli @ Byron Bay always puts me in mind of the ever popular Web Dairymaid Marking Stone

NOTE: Webdiary will close at midnight until Tuesday. Please minimise comments after midnight so I’m not faced with too many when I log on again. PS Margo has flu and hopes to be back Wednesday.

    1. For about four years now, Bob Ellis’s essays have not shown up as often as they used to in The Age, The Sydney Morning Herald, The Courier Mail and The Canberra Times.

I could suggest one reason for this.

Not that there’s anything wrong with that.

    1. And how could we leave out the Bob Ellis/Alexandra Long/Cooper paternity kerfuffle? Our Bob loves to ‘jump the fence’ and ‘spread his love around’.

    1. Doesn’t seem Ellis’s defamation action has taught him a great deal. In my humble opinon at least these commentsd by him are defamatory.

    1. Seems like everyone just has to “get that book out of them”, nowits time for Mad Dog Latham gets down and dirty on his comrades.

    1. And in my opinion, Abbott and Costello should stop being whiny pricks. You want to lead a public life, you’re going to take some blows. Only difference with Ellis is that he never had the smarts to get himself elected, so he could never slander people under the protection of parliamentary privilige.

Ellis may be a self-serving jerk who makes stuff up, but at least he has balls.

Funny how there’s all the talk of the “whinging left”, but the “brave right” is so quick to sue… “you hurt my feelings!”

  1. So What Kyle?

Are you saying that “making up stuff” when you are financially indemnified by your publisher is a sign of “having balls”?

Yes, you need a thick skin in public life but this wasn’t fair comment – It was lies. There is a big difference.
