The pen really is mightier:
A legendary Melbourne cartoonist helped catch a burglar he confronted in his Melbourne home by dashing off a quick caricature and handing it to police.
Bill “Weg” Green, who has been drawing AFL Grand Final posters for more than 50 years, confronted the burglar in the backyard of his Heathmont home early on Saturday.
The guy ran away, but police caught someone resembling the fellow in Weg’s sketch within 15 minutes:
“After we had a look at this gentleman in the back of the divvy van, we just couldn’t believe how much of a likeness it was to the picture that Weg had drawn,” Senior Constable Roche said.
Reader Seneca emails: “Imagine how helpful Leunig would have been in this situation.”
