$50,000 DOS attack? Man. And I thought I had problems with people signing me up to spam lists.

    1. That sucks. Hope Darp et al. get that sorted out without further problems.

    1. It doesn’t look like anyone there knows what they’re talking about.  Which is probably more of a problem than the DOS attack, whether it’s 2mbit or 2gbit.  Even if it’s 2gbit, that would be for the entire datacentre, not for one site or even for one server.  So no-one’s going to get billed $50,000.

      It’s nonsense.

    1. Going by something posted in the comments thread there, it seemed like $50,000 might be the bill that the hosting company itself faces from their upstream provider.

    1. Typical computer crime nonsense. Anytime a computer/server/website/whatnot is attacked, the victim always throws out an exorbitant amount for the cost of the damage. This is because the government agencies that investigate these crimes have so many cases and reports that they have to give priority to the ones that “cost” the most.

It’s sort of like when I had a brick thrown through my van window a few months ago. The cop came out, filled out a report, and that was the end of it. On the other hand, if all the cars in the lot had been set on fire…

    1. From Duck Monster who Darp thinks “ knows more about these things than I and he explains it thus:”

“This is big. Our pipes were hosted further upstream in the US so there is the possibility of FBI involvement in this incident.”

OM’F’G!! You’d think paranoid delusions but going by Darps MO it could just be another stunt to get attention.

“it looks like every Nazi who can click a mouse took part in this one.”

err DoS attacks only take person. Say I wonder ‘if’ it was an out side job how much ethics do they share with Tim Lambert.

  1. It was probably some bored, pimply-faced kid holed up in his mom’s basement.  That’s where most of my Internet troubles seem to originate.
