Car-b-q season in France begins early this year …
This guy really hates hatchbacks. The destruction is happening only blocks from the Eiffel Tower, by the way:
Antoil Ethuin, 48, stood outside the shattered windows of his Bike’n’Roll rental shop on Thursday, stunned by the destruction of the worst violence in two weeks of student protests in Paris and other French cities.
“My country is broken,” said Mr Ethuin, gazing at the smouldering wrecks a few metres away and the carpet of glass shards, broken dishes and computer parts covering the footpath in the heart of one of the city’s most affluent suburbs.
“I never imagined I would ever see this in Paris.”
The cause: a proposed law that would allow employers to dismiss young workers without notice. Difficult to imagine anyone wanting to fire such evidently responsible and hard-working youngsters.
UPDATE. Jacques Chirac is deeply shocked.
UPDATE II. Run out of hatchbacks to stomp? Then attack each other!
UPDATE III. Paul Belien: “The French are reaping the harvest of their own stupid policies during the past decades.”

If this is going to be a regular event, maybe I should buy it.

- I am facinated by France’s decline, becuase it is really the European canary in the coal mine, not the jews (it’s in the process of expelling it’s jews).
Where Europe goes, France goes first, at least when it comes to any negative trends.
Lord knows I hate the French, everyone hates the French, the French hate the french, so am I an impartial observer? No, I hopethey get screwed and their disgusting country ruined. But I can’t help but think all these trends, the demographic decine, the unassimilatable muslim soon-to-be majority and the statist economy, not to mention their cultural cowardice, dishonesty and corruption are all vectors converging on a disasterous future collision point.
I hope so. I hate French people.
- An oldie but still relevant.
API and UPI report that the French Government announced today that in light of the latest civil unrest, France has raised it’s security alert level from “Run” to “Hide.” The only two higher levels in France are “Surrender” and “Collaborate”!
“Liberté, Egalité, Fraternity” in the 21st. Century.

- As Mr. Steyn says: socialism isn’t so much a waste of money as it is a waste of people. Case in point here. Cradle to grave welfare statism has turned the once vaunted warriors of Charlemagne into the panty wastes of Western Civ. - It is so sad to see a country that has produced Victor Hugo,Voltaire, Emile Zola , the ideals of the French revolution- come down to this.
The youths are laughing their heads off at the weakness of the french.
They rampage through the TGVs looting and sexually assualting young women (who have to pay again to get on the next train!!)
The passengers do nothing,
The Police does nothing.
They kidnap Elan halemi and the police refuse to even investigate the parents’ pleas until his torured and mutilated body is found on railway tracks.
They burn 100,000 cars and Chirac apologises to them.
Muslims fake the Al durah killing, France 2 willingly swallows it and then refuses to investigate when the sham is exposed.
Jewish students inc. young girls are brutally assulted and beaten in the Jussieu FAc. Nothing is done No protection is given.
Young jews are leaving France in droves and in silence as the young muslims become emboldened by the appeasement strategies of the French Gov.
The days when Jews could call for the destruction of Israel and blame 911 on the americans to be accepted by the french leftist elites are over.
Even the Kapos will have to leave.

- The green pole with green ring in the rioter’s hand is an apparatus to hold clear trash bags on the Parisian streets. After a series of bombings in Paris in the 1990s, clear trash bags were adopted so that a planted bomb could be “seen” in a trash container.
It is ironic the “youth” is using a trash holder to trash Paris.

I can’t believe the Left is as erudite and well read as this lot. I picked the correct side of the spectrum if for no other reason than the unmatched educational opportunities!

- More reasons I suspect the photo is posed:
The composition is Photo School perfect, down to the presence of the pedestrian crossing.
Although the subject seems to engaged in some act of violence, there is no motion blur.
From the convergence of the crossing lines I estimate the photographer would be about 2m from the subject, using a wide-angle lens. You would think that approaching an adrenalin-pumped rioter that closely with a camera would attract his attention in some way.

- On a different note. Tony Blair lands today. it seems the main purpose of his visit according to the greens is to secure the release of David Hicks. Can’t wait to see the ABC/SBS human rights moonbats raise the subject. and will he respond as well as Howard did to Buongiorno’s drivels in LONDON at the time of the July bombings?
- According to the report I read:
‘The violence was worst in the capital where a small group of masked rioters, who appeared to be separate from the main student-led march, threw stones and metal bars at firemen, smashed shop windows and lit cars on fire’.
A ’small group of masked rioters’ who ‘appeared to be separate from the main student led march ..’
Interesting – who could they possibly be? Now lets see … followers of which religion attack in packs, smash, burn and kill when possible, attack firemen and ambos — can you guess? It begins with ‘M’.
- Chirac will not be addressed in the language of the Anglo-Saxon barbarians. As his countrymen sack libraries.
The French people and their media will once again see rioting, burning and chaos all around them, will decline another chance at painful but necessary introspection, and will dogpile onto and exaggerate the next domestic disturbance in the U.S. with bullshit about America’s violence, anarchy and racism.
And they will continue to tell us we are arrogant.
- You could caption the pic “brave pedestrian fights back against global warming monsters”, there would have to be an award in that.
Anyway, I blame Bush.

- As wonderful as it is to indulge oneself in the joy of seeing righteous justice play itself out, this is not good news, any more than the appeasement at Munich turned out to be good news. What we are witnessing is the spread of the terrible war, reported with hopeful euphemisms in an attempt to hide reality. Make no mistake, however, we have reentered the days of raping and pillaging mobs destroying everything in their paths.
I find I am only pessimistic when I hear people take their lives for granted, because it cedes reality to the enemy. The barbarians can win. Ask somebody in the government of the Roman Empire.
P.S. to whoever was concerned about losing the ideals of the French Revolution: The French managed to crash the revolution, using those high principles (of the Platonic Rouseau, by the way) without any outside help. And they did it in only 10 years. Thankfully, America’s founders chose to go with the ideas of John Locke, not Rouseau, and we’ve managed with only one republic, so far. But it is those same ideas of Plato via Rouseau that has put them into the socialist prison they find themselves in today. Perhaps they need to reassess their principles and give a nod to reality (considering how many times reality has bitten, and continues to bite them on the butt).

- Hi all – having moved to France a few weeks ago for the foreseeable future, maybe a few other things need to be made clear about the riots.
First, they are very localised. There have been protests everywhere but only in Paris has there been anything like in the picture. I live in Lyon which is, depending on who you talk to, either the second or third biggest city in France. There have been protests here but no violence – and this weekend there is even an anti-violence protest planned for the city by a group called ‘Liberte Cherie’.
Second, as Tim writes, this law does make it easier for employers to fire young employees. But it also makes it easier to hire them in the first place. The protests (I agree with the law by the way – seems sensible in a state where 18% of young people are unemployed) are mainly being pushed along by the socialist party and the offspring of functionaires, or French bureaucrats, who are dead frightened that they may actually have more than one job in their life.
Third, and finally, this Car-B-Q season is different from the last one in a very significant way: the vast majority of the Renault burners this time are white, middle-class French kids. The immigrant population that suffers from up to 50% unemployment in the migrant suburbs are largely supportive of the laws.
Unfortunately the French government is being just as bloody useless as last time in stopping the rioting.

- A stampede Sunday morning killed 244 Muslim pilgrims and injured another 244 at a “stone-throwing ritual” in Mecca.2004.
Did the youngsters learn and copy this ritual for attention in Paris?
Do they think it’s Satan? Could the RTA employ them to teach people not to throw stones at cars and road safety?
Tim, do we post an employment resume here for the Bull mag. or do we stone the magazine or do we have a rock concert and sing to get a job with the Bulletin, or do we stone the crows? phi phi ratio1.618
- I saw one of the student organizers (he’s a lefty union guy, too, to nobody’s surprise) of the protests on the news the other night. Essentially, he engaged in blatant extortion in his comments; to paraphrase, the violence is entirely the French state’s responsibility for daring to introduce that law, and they can make it all go away by scrapping it.
Cookie for everyone who recognizes that song and dance from another group of petulant, spoiled child-like creatures.
- It’s pretty hard to come to any conclusion other than France is indeed in its first death throes. The responsible thing to do would be for France to sign its nuclear arsenal over to the British until order is restored.Posted by platey mates on 2006 03 25 at 07:54 AM • permalink
- Riots, and other forms of direct action, are relatively well-accepted in France. There are at least two reasons for this: in the first place French governments have tended to give in to the demonstrators rather than resist so that the rioters are rewarded. (This irresolution may well be a cultural legacy of the weakness of most post-revolutionary governments who lacked sufficient legitimacy to show strength in the face of populist uprisings.)
In the second place, there is a tacit understanding that because the democratic controls on policy formation and implementation are so weak in France, the only real option for popular resistance to government action is this sort of extra-legal activity. (Note that there seems to have beeen almost no consultation or parliamentary debate concerning these labour reforms before they were proposed.) For this reason, most of these uprisings are pretty ritualised and everyone knows the limits they can go to – rather like the old South Korean student riots. French riots are really only newsworthy when they appear to be going beyond those limits as the previous suburban riots did. I don’t see these riots going beyond the limits at this point.
- Make no mistake, however, we have reentered the days of raping and pillaging mobs destroying everything in their paths.
No we haven’t, we have reentered the days of raping and pillaging mobs destroying French people.
So chill, it’s all good!
First they came for the gay Danish politicians, and I did not speak out, for I wasn’t gay Danish politician. Then they came for the French surrender monkeys and I did not speak out, for I wasn’t French surrender monkey. Then I sort of lost track, I think they came for some Russians. Anyway, when at last they came for us there were no longer any spineless Eurotrash left to speak out, so we had to brutally massacre them with our gigantic, powerful armies. No wait, it was an animal rights nut that came for the gay Danish politician..
Oh well, let’s kill them too.
- >Barbarians and savages entered in the library of “l’Ecole des Chartes” (100,000 books) in the Sorbonne, and destroyed writings of abbeys of Île-de-France containing all the official documents since the middle age.
My undergrad degree is in history. This really pisses me off. But why am I surprised. Because part of this whole thing is the desire to destroy our past. And as a westerner, France is such a major part of our cultural patrimony. Destroy France, you destroy the West.
- Platey Mates 50:
Your suggestion is an outrage, and flies in the face of all historical precedent.
They should sign that stuff over to the Germans.Room 237
Destroy France, you destroy the West.
Sounds like “Destroy the melanoma, you destroy the patient.”

The destruction of our Western heritage has been something the left has desired for…what, forty years? No wonder they align themselves with Islamofacists.
- >The destruction of our Western heritage has been something the left has desired for…what, forty years? No wonder they align themselves with Islamofacists.
That is part of what I think is behind much of this. I am not a slave to tradition. But you need to have a firm rooting in your past to grow in the future. Communism and Fascism both promised to be the great destroyer. People forget that initially, Mussolini and Hitler both promised to destroy and sweep away the past—they both simply in the end realized they needed to preserve their version of history.
Communism promised a new world and instead delivered failure, famine and death.
So now they need something new—and Islamicism promises to destroy the old Europe. So of source they align with it.
Thankfully, America’s founders chose to go with the ideas of John Locke, not Rouseau, and we’ve managed with only one republic, so far.
well, one and a half, thanks to Lincoln, Grant, Sherman and a few others… of course, most of our “loyal opposition” today worships more at the altar of the Copperheads…
