Today’s Anzac Day march in Darwin has been cancelled in advance of Cyclone Monica:

Darwin is preparing to weather the most intense storm ever seen in Australia’s northern waters, with winds of 350 kilometres an hour at the core of cyclone Monica.

The category 5 storm is less than 400 kilometres from the Northern Territory capital.

Mr Bingley’s pre-emptive prayers may already have had an effect; according to this forecast, Monica could be weaker than feared by the time it sweeps by south of Darwin. Here’s hoping.

1. We had a Cyclone Monica back in ‘98. Landfall in the DC area. The destruction in her wake was damn near catastrophic. Good luck to you, Oz.

   Monica back in ‘98, was a whistle blower, just as todays Mary McCarthy is. Difference our Monica used a real whistle, so to speak.

   Both (Monica and Mary) dealt with ‘leaks’. Monica got a cigar…Mary will get nothing except rich from her ‘celebrity status’ for pulling off a good deed.

   Monica got people bombed…Mary will get US bombed.

   P.S.  I’ll leave the “Monica” jokes alone.  It’s just too obvious.  I’ll just say that I hope this Monica doesn’t do the damage that the other did.
