ABC staffers are on strike for 24 hours to back up their demands for more money from taxpayers. Please contact the broadcaster to praise today’s improvement in programming.
UPDATE. Habib: “JJJ has been listenable for the first time in a coon’s age, free of the pontificating politics … Just music, with an announcement every 15 minutes ironically apologising for the absence of usual programming.”
UPDATE II. Margo’s Maid: “I would support a pay-rise for the ABC employees except it would only increase the gapbetween the rich and poor.”
UPDATE III. Check out their insane demands:
Unions have demanded a minimum 16 per cent pay rise, plus two additional rises of 5 per cent, to bring staff “up to community standards”, Commonwealth Public Service Union official Graeme Thomson said …
At a union meeting held at ABC’s Sydney headquarters last Thursday, staff unanimously pledged one day of pay per month to a fighting fund to allow staff best placed to have an impact to strike more often … A staff member told the meeting that workers at Boeing’s Williamtown airbase went on strike for 11 months to force a deal and they should prepare for the long haul.
An 11-month ABC strike? Bring it on!
