Global warming is still a long way off, if George Monbiot’s frozen brain is any guide:

In February, a leaked report from the Pentagon revealed that it sees global warming as far more dangerous to US interests than terrorism.

Sigh. The report wasn’t leaked. The report was to, rather than from, the Pentagon. The report was hypothetical. Monbiot’s next column? A fierce condemnation of NORAD’s citizen-tracking spy satellites.

    1. I’m hoping that NORAD has coordinated this flight with the Department of Homeland Security.  I’d hate for Santa to get tackled by Transportation Security Agency guards.

    1. Correct me if I’m mistaken, but isn’t Monbiot the inspiration for the term “barking moonbat”?

    1. Oh gloom. Why is it that supposedly intelligent people cannot get basic facts correct.

Oh, sorry, I forgot. We are talking of George Monbiot here.

never let the facts get in teh way of your favourite delusions.

    1. Until the invasion of Iraq, there were no links between the Ba’athists and al-Qaida:

Yes, Oceania has never been at war with East Asia…Oceania has always been at war with East Asia.

BTW, the place that I’m currently seated, (Minneapolis Minnesota) was, just 9000 years ago, beneath 1000 meters of ice.  Global Warming (GWB’s fault I’m sure) took care of that.

This article read like a Freshman’s final paper.

      Same old same old.

    1. Oh God I’m bored with global warming.  In order to take it seriously I would need to be persuaded of all the following:

      (1) Temperatures are actually warming IN THE ATMOSPHERE and not just at parts of the surface where record-keeping is most unreliable.

      (2) This rise in temperature (if any) is more than a rebound from the last mini-ice age.

      (3) The reason for the (unusually large) rise in temperatures (if any) is the higher concentration of so-called greenhouse gases in the atmosphere.

    1. Even calling it a ‘report’ exaggerates its significance. It was a blue-sky what-if exercise—essentially fiction. The intent was to jumpstart strategic thinking beyond the usual limits of plausibility.

Sort of like saying, ‘What should we do if Martians land tomorrow?’ Oops. Better not tell Moonbat I ‘reported’ that.

    1. Indeed, It was the worst case scenario from a best case/worst case scenario exercise , Some people are the embodiement of the saying: “If you are not part of the solution, There is good mony to be made from prolonging the problem”.

    1. The ad next to Moonbat’s article cracked me up – it’s a gem. It says:

“The Guardian. Know where you’re going before you go.”

If only they took their own advice on occasions! Like, could they find Ohio on a map?

  1. Monbiot is also worried about what will happen if Hugo Drax is allowed to carry his fiendish plot through to completion.
