JOB ANNOUNCED

As of Monday, I'll be Assistant Editor (News) at The Bulletin. It's a full-time office job, the first I've had - or seriously considered - since 2000. Various proposals have been discussed over the past few months. One option was a Bulletin-financed blog; another involved managing The Bulletin's online feed. Yet another involved me running for Parliament, which I shunned due to the possibility of a brutal pay reduction.

The Asst. Ed. (News) posting is best, since it allows for the continuation of this site plus increased involvement with The Bulletin, now in its 125th year and thriving under the direction of Garry Linnell and Kathy Bail. The rebuilding of The Bulletin by these two is comparable to The Atlantic Monthly's revival under Mike Kelly.

Of course, not everybody is pleased. This note arrives from "Margo Kingston" via reader L.C.:

No Thappy with with this appointment, at the Bulletan. Tim Blare and Graham Linel both come from, near Geelong, which is in either Victoria or western Australia, and it is beleived that journalists from their have been tort that spelling, punchewation, gramma and accuracy are more important than activism. I am still investergating but I also beleive both are part of a jewish Plot to control the media. Activism is tiring work. Web Dairy will be back on July 17.

What changes may full-time work cause for this site? Well, for all I know, postings may actually increase. Stay tuned.
