WORRIES CAST ASIDE
The SMH reports:
Australians cast aside global warming worries to buy a record one million cars in the past year.
Note the assumption we were worried in the first place. Australians just aren’t, by and large; we don’t watch global warming TV shows, we don’t turn off our lights, we don’t read Tim Lambert’s global-warming-is-real-I-have-proof blog (lately sunk to just above three figures daily) and we don’t buy stupid hybrid cars:
So far this year, only 2081 hybrids have been sold here out of a total market of 419,279 or just 0.5 per cent. Of these, 1290 (62 per cent) were bought by governments.
