PACIFISM RECONSIDERED
University of Sydney examinations officer Glenn Condell:
I have thought for years that if conscription ever returned that I would rather spend time in gaol than serve alongside American and especially Israeli soldiers. But lately I’ve gone further and decided that if there were any way to fight AGAINST them, I would willingly do so.
I suppose Glenn could take the Hicks option; or perhaps he’ll quietly lay in wait until the next visit to Sydney of US troops. UPDATE. Retaliation protesters gather in Sydney. Other opponents of the Israeli resistance meet in London to hear George Galloway: “Hezbollah has never been a terrorist organisation. I am here to glorify the Lebanese resistance, Hezbollah, and to glorify the resistance leader, Hassan Nasrallah ...”
Careful, George. The last bloke you glorified ended up being hauled out of a spider hole.

You might have thought Bakri Mohammed would have been delighted that here he was, at last, in a position to act in perfect accord with his relentlessly stated beliefs; a chance to gird the loins, strap on the old Semtex and make haste for the Israeli border. Bang! But no; what he did instead was plead, quite piteously, with the British government to airlift him (at our expense) to safety. It is all very well to cheer on the suicide bombers and the struggle to expunge Israel from the face of the earth — but one shouldn’t really be expected to take part in such dangerous activities oneself. Suddenly the British way of doing things seemed awfully attractive as the shells rained down.
Can’t imagine Condell being such a wimp. Get over there, Glenn! The people need you!
