MURDOCH EVERYWHERE
The Daily Telegraph reports:
News Corporation chairman and chief executive Rupert Murdoch has taken over The Sydney Morning Herald.
In the latest hilarious stuff-up at its so-called "newsroom of the future", the Herald has installed massive pillars at its new Pyrmont office depicting a huge etched image of the News Corporation chief ...
The broadsheet ran a cocky editorial last month where it invited Mr Murdoch to visit the Herald while he was in Sydney to see what an integrated newsroom looked like.
Now the joke is on them, with Mr Murdoch keeping a watchful eye over everyone from David Marr to Adele Horin.
A Herald artist first noticed - by late afternoon Wednesday - that Murdoch was gazing amusedly at frightened Fairfax staffers:
The images were subsequently taken down:
Red-faced Fairfax executives ordered the immediate removal of more than 20 giant-sized images of rival media boss Rupert Murdoch adorning the company’s multi-million dollar new offices ...
But in another embarrassment for the Herald, The Daily Telegraph “rescued” one and gave it a safe haven on our editorial floor, after disgruntled Fairfax staff tipped us off to a secret location.
Rescued Rupert is back where he belongs:
UPDATE. The SMH’s Scott Rochfort:
It appears worldwide domination is not enough for the News Corporation deity Rupert Murdoch. Now he wants to influence our spiritual thoughts.
