“MIGHT AND FRANKNESS”
Twelve Palestinians have been killed and more than 100 wounded in rolling Hamas-Fatah street battles. And now the al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades want in on the action:
The al-Aqsa Martyrs Brigades, an armed wing of Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas’s Fatah faction, threatened for the first time on Tuesday to kill Hamas leaders, including exiled political chief Khaled Meshaal ...
“We in al-Aqsa announce, with all might and frankness, the ruling of the people in the homeland and in the diaspora, to execute the head of the sedition, Khaled Meshaal, Saeed Seyam and Youssef al-Zahar, and we will execute this ruling so those filthy people can be made an example,” the statement said.
It’s like some beautiful inversion of Blair’s Law. Meanwhile, in Iraq:
Al-Qaida in Iraq is being pushed out of its strongholds in Anbar province after three days of fighting with Iraq’s fiercely independent tribes. A number of al-Qaida fighters have been killed and captured, including Saudis and Syrians ...
Where once tribal leaders in Anbar and western Iraq welcomed al-Qaida, providing them with safehouses and other logistical support, there is now open war.
