GRANT MCLENNAN
Cheesehead reader Hazy Dave emails on the sad death of Grant McLennan:
Of the really good Australian bands that never made a commercial impact commensurate with their quality, the Go-Betweens must rank at the top. (The Church at least had one almost-hit, “Under The Milky Way”.)
So, maybe you’re well aware of this, or don’t care much for the band, and you’re not a musicblogger anyway, but I thought it was worthy of note. A significant loss to the world of music. My thoughts are with his friends and family.
Okay, back to the weird Brazilian Psych my friend in Michigan sent me. I’ll raise a Foster’s to Grant tonight.
I don’t know what “Brazilian Psych” is, but it could have been useful the night I watched Federal election coverage with Go-Betweens drummer Lindy Morrison, Paddy McGuinness, and some guy from Crikey.com.au. As it was, we had to make do with absinthe.
Lindy is very sweet. Best wishes to her following McLennan’s death.
UPDATE. In other music news, Traceeee Hutchison will shortly be presenting a new music TV show. You’ll be paying for it.
