DAY OF WHISPERS
Rumours abound. Matt Price: “Something is on in parliament house.”
UPDATE. Andrew Bolt: “Costello isn’t stirring any of this, but is ready to lead. He’ll be prime minister tomorrow.” My guess: Howard will remain as leader, and today announce the election date.
UPDATE II. John Howard: “I have never run from a fight before and I don’t intend to do so now.”
UPDATE III. Ex-Labor leader Kim Beazley thinks Howard may resign “in the next week”.
UPDATE IV. Things turn around quickly; only last December we were watching Labor brawl.
UPDATE V. Nothing ended up happening. No election called, no leadership change, nothing.
