The good rabbi is wrong in one respect. The anti-semitic comments in the documentary are not made by Terry Hicks (though they are not questioned by him).
They are made by David Hicks, in letters read out to the camera by Terry Hicks.
The letters also confirm Hicks’s active membership of LET and al-Qa’ida.
In all the soft media treatment of Terry Hicks so far, no-one, to my knowledge, has asked him what he thinks might have happened in David’s upbringing to cause him to train as an Islamist suicide-bomber.
All the above, of course, only makes the current barracking for David Hicks even more disgraceful.
They should all be forced to watch Flight 93.
Fairfax are intent on turning the jihadist Hicks and the bipolar Leunig into modern heroes.
Meanwhile, it demonises Israel and has contracted the lop-sided Middle East correspondent Ed O’loughlan for another 12 months.

How many deaths was Hicks responsible for? How many people did he kill, or did he have killed on his behalf?
Just curious. We have all this noise and all these recourses spent on dealing with this s seemingly insignificant individual, yet not a peep is made about the fact that the Bush Administration has shut down the Bin Laden unit at the CIA.

Well on the shutdown of the CIA’s Alec Station that has been hunting bin Laden for ten years (and apparently not finding him) the “unnamed sources” the NYT cited said that other organizations in the intel community would pick up the job, and that due to changes in Al Qaeda operational practice tracking him down was less important than before because he was no longer directing actual terrorist operations. In other words he’s been chased into hiding so deep he cannot direct the terrorists anynmore.Of course, given the CIA’s record of failure over many years to develop accurate intel about important matters maybe the Bush Administration finally decided they had given them enough time to futz around with this mission, and intend to entrust it in the future to somebody competent, like a special detatchment of Delta Force. Since the CIA seems to be as unreformable as the UN that would make sense.
