YOU VOTE YOU DIE

Miranda Devine reports on the intimidation (and worse) of Iraqi voters in Sydney, Australia:

Brawls, gunshot wounds, a broken arm, vandalised shops, a bomb scare and death threats led Sheik Haydar Naji, 37, of Auburn’s Ahl Albait Islamic Centre, to advise voters to scrub their fingers clean of blue ink, as he had done.

Four men are recovering from gunshot wounds and other injuries after a brawl last Sunday night, in which bullets flew through windows on Auburn Road and shattered windscreens.

Sheik Naji, who came to Sydney in 1996 as a refugee, believes local terrorist sympathisers are responsible. But he is reluctant to elaborate for fear of jeopardising police investigations.

Others in the community say the trouble began last Saturday, after the polling booth on Queen Street opened. At first the only protesters were peaceful, members of communist and socialist parties. But at about 11am, 20 to 25 men, said by locals to be from Afghanistan, Pakistan and Lebanon, but not Iraq, arrived and began to intimidate voters.

They unfurled a banner which declared in Arabic: “You vote You die”. They waved the ominous black flag of terrorist leader Abu Musab al-Zarqawi, the same flag which features in grisly video beheadings of foreign hostages.

So far not a single person Zarqawi-supporting hate puppy has been arrested over this. I wonder if they vote in Australian elections. (Earlier report here.)

  1. Indeed, it IS surprising that no arrests have been made yet, given the “huge” amount of news coverage this has received…

  3. Thankfully Miranda Devine is at work at the SMH. They must be wondering in the coffee room how he slipped through the job interview process as she is (a) not a Whakey Lefty and (b) a professional, excellent journo.

Could you see Inner Margolia discussing this issue. I don’t think so.

  4. Rope. Tree. Terrorist. Some assembly required.

You’ll note what happened to the terrorists who tried this in Iraq, when the people have Kalashnikovs to fight back with…

  5. Ah! The joys of multiculturism: just like Malcolm Fraser promised us. Bloody marvellous how new cultures, customs and beliefs have enriched our lives and brought a lively dynamism to a once staid and amicable society.

  6. Where’s they get the guns?  I thought Howard saved you all from the nasty things.  You mean criminals are keeping weapons illegally?

  7. Western democracies are enthusiastically embracing self-destruction.  Those who voted are emonstrating that they are genuine reffos.  The scum with guns deserve to die before they take us all down with them.

Fuck multiculti - it is a recipe for monoculto and the one remaining won’t be of our choosing.

  8. So much for gun control. It went too far in one direction, penalising law-abiding citizens, and not far enough in another. If terrorist sympathisers and petty criminal car-rebirthers, car-jackers, police station pot-shooters and the like can still produce them whenever they like, we are in need of some “amendments”.
    Miranda kicks arse.

  9. Thanks Tim for having the balls to stand up for this. Australia does not need this bullshit.

  10. Internal leftist inconsistency # 3615

Islam and democracy is compatible – In “multicultural Australia

    But

Islam and democracy is incompatible – In Iraq

  11. It’s interesting to note that all of the Islamic troublemakers in places like the UK and Australia are NOT Iraqis.

  12. If nothing else this is shit-hot news. It’s the local, extremely newsy angle to the biggest story in the world. And apart from Devine’s revelations and about three short pars by AAP last Sunday, I haven’t heard a whisper. Are all our major news editors that biased or incompetent?

  14. After the unreported horror ritual murder of the Egyptian Coptic family in New Jersey, nothing surprises me anymore about the MSM.
Still you think the Australian would have been on to that story big time.

  15. off topic: unpolitically cowed fight back. In red neck wild west.Troublemakers who had been evicted from a supermarket earlier returned to attack the staff member who had evicted them. They thrust a broken bottle into his face damaging his eye and nearly blinding him.A coalition of staff and customers overpowered the attackers and handed them over to police (ankles and wrists neatly bound with duct tape)when they arrived.

  16. Now this REALLY enrages me!
That this could go on here!
In my own suburb there is an Iraqi Christian social club which in the lead up to the elections in Iraq had ominous warnings posted on their walls and fences. Made my blood boil!
I wonder how many of these criminals came into this country as so-called refugees?
And as to the constant vandalism of this country’s various war memorials??? I’m sure it won’t come as a great surprise when we eventually find out who’s responsible. God help them!!

  17. If I went and set up a sign at any other aussie election that went along the lines of “You vote for Joe Blogs, you DIE!”, I would expect to be arrested promptly.  How can these wastes of space get away with it?
I think the police dropped the ball on this occasion.
