WORLD ROCKED
NineMSM reports:
It’s the biblical interpretation that has rocked the world — and drawn one of the biggest responses to a ninemsn vote ever.
Over a quarter of a million of you responded to our poll ‘Are churches right to say Jesus loves Osama?’ with the final result running more than four-to-one against affection for the terror mastermind.
In fact, 210,811 readers or 81 per cent of respondents said that various Sydney churches were wrong to declare Christ’s love for bin Laden.
The Daily Telegraph broke this story in Sydney after being alerted by a single reader email. Follow-ups subsequently appeared in papers from Russia to the UK.
Starting with the observation that “it is interesting that a public official seems to think he knows what prayer priority there should be for Christians,” a blogger there gives a particularly American analysis of events.
Speaking of interesting, this was an interesting statement. A “particularly American analysis”? Why? Because the blogger actually questioned a public official’s motivations? Quelle horreur!
I say it’s Jesus’ business who he loves, and why should we care anyway, since Osama is wormfood in Bumfuckistan.
Jesus is coming… and this time it’s personal!

I’m not particularly religious, I just hate islamist politics and would love to see the lot of them off the far edge of the planet (except it’s round and they keep circumnavigating.).
One fact I know: Osama doesn’t love Jesus.
Sure he does. Unfortunately, he believes that Jesus taught the same exact thing Mohammed did, and that Christians corrupted it by adding all that “love thy neighbor”, “turn the other cheek” and “render unto Caesar” stuff.
Posted by Rob Crawford on 2007 02 05 at 11:52 AM • permalinkWell, Jesus probably does love Osama, just as a parent still loves a child that turns out to be a total dickhead. However, I resent the implication that others are not good christians if they also don’t love (forgive) this mass murderer. The first part of forgiveness is for the offender is to actually ask for forgiveness. To my knowledge, OBL has not done this. So, I don’t know why any of us have to feel guilty for recognizing and pointing out that some people are actually evil.
Love for a murderer like Osama must be weighed against the harm he has done to other people and concern for his potential victims. It would be better for the world if he were dead. That doesn’t mean I should hate him. It just means I must have a lot more empathy for the relatively innocent people he plans to kill or enslave, than for one murdering fanatic.
The whole exercise of proclaiming Jesus’ love for Osama seems pointless, like saying “Jesus loves Adolph” during WW2 would have been. What possible good can it do? It just annoys or confuses people. Yes, I believe God loves people, perhaps even murderers like Osama and Adolph, but He also hates the evil they do. So it’s our duty to oppose them if we are able, using force when necessary, rather than allow them to succeed in their evil plans.
So the question isn’t loving or not loving Osama, but whether or not to oppose his evil actions. That seems obvious to me, but not to the “love Osama” bunch.
Whether or not Jesus loves Osama, He certainly doesn’t approve of him!

“Jesus loves Oprah.” See?
Cheers

How can they circumnavigate when we all know, according to prominent Muslim clerics, that the earth is flat? Gee those Muzzies are smart! However, I would like to see them on another planet entirely - Mars perhaps. A good place to experience the future living conditions of their final destination.
God probably does love Osama, in the same way that parents love their child no matter what horrendous thing he/she has done.
Christ does love Osama. Biblically, Christ’s love extends to everyone, however evil. However unless Osama (or anyone else) confessed his sins to God and asked for forgiveness to receive his salvation, God’s wrath would destroy Osama on Judgement Day, for Christ would not be able to forgive his sins, as Christ’s offer is one that needs to be accepted. So Christ loves Osama, but God’s wrath will be poured out upon him, unless he converts to Christianity, in which case he may meet God a lot sooner when his converts hear about it ;)

There is an old Sunday school ditty called “Jesus Loves Me”, but would anyone base their theology on a children’s song? However, in John 14:21 this is what Jesus is reported as saying: “He that hath my commandments, and keepeth them, he it is that loveth me: and he that loveth me shall be loved of my Father, and I will love him, and will manifest myself to him.” That doesn’t sound like unconditional love at all. I expect the fire and brimstone brigade to put me right.

Especially where the voters are required to pay 55c to vote, in which case the results may be interpreted as:
“Here are the results of a poll of people stupid enough to pay 55c in order to offer their opinion”.
Jesus loves Osama and died for his sins. Osama doesn’t believe in Jesus as God so will spend eternity in hell. Both are clear and uncontestable statements from the Bible. I get a kick out of thinking that hell might just be being locked in a room for eternity with 41 virgins. I mean the first week great, week 2 they start to complain about your performance…week 42,991…well you know what I mean.
#23 - No, it would be a greater hell if after 42,991 weeks they all remained virgins by choice.

Posted by stahlblume on 2007 02 06 at 01:35 AM • permalinkI wonder if Jesus will love Ahmadinejad if he decides to blow up another country using nuclear weapons.
Unfortunately you can’t turn the other cheek when the other side has no conscience. You have to fight back.
