WORKERS COLLECTIVE MEETS

Where are leftists John Pilger, Tariq Ali, Stephen Kenny, and Tony Bunyan gathering to bitch about Western immorality? In an 18th century Florentine palace, natch. Join following discussion at Andrew Bolt’s reader forum.

  1. This brings to mind the UN meeting on hunger that required planeloads of caviar, lobster, and champagne to be flown in to the hungry diploamts.

Might be wise for these nagging moralists to remember what happened to a famous, holier-than-thou Florentine.

  2. Incredible.  Four blind mice, in one musty old building.

  3. Most “Marxists” and their sympathizers are high-income, educated white people.

I am enjoying the image of John Pilger being swallowed up by a blob of Rococo ornamentation come to life.

  4. Well, you really can’t expect deep-think fellows to forego their little comforts, can you? Although, if they really wanted to avoid even the appearance of hypocrisy, they’d have convened in someplace like Chad, I suppose, where I am reliably informed that accomodations fall short of even the most basic amenities (for example, I think there’s only a Motel 5).

  5. Odd, that. I’m sure Kim Jong Il or, at the very least, Hugo Chavez would have been willing to put them up in a country whose leadership reflects their spittle-flecked dementia.

  6. Someone (i.e., a journalist) should take a look at where Tariq Ali lives in London one day. Nice little contradiction there, what with him being a member of the Socialist Register editorial board and all…

  7. The Columnists’ Internationale (sung before every fifteen course meal with three wines.)

Arise ye wankers from your slumbers
    Arise ye criminals of rant
    For circulation’s low’rd numbers
We’ve filled the latest Age with cant.
Now away with all your superstitions
    Servile masses subscribe! Subscribe!
We’ll change forthwith the old reporting
And spurn the truth to win the prize.

    CHORUS

    Then come Margoids rally
And the last jeer let us face
    The Internationale
    Despites the human race.

Because the reality of those “workers’ paradises” is that of the “Turd World” or because the aforementioned comandantes might not let them leave?

  9. Is there something wrong with keeping those chianti crusading cretins in North Korea?  Not Venezuela; that hasn’t suffered the economic disaster NK is going through.  Sending them to Venezuela reduces the potential that Pilger, Ali, et al, might be tossed into the communal cooking pot for lunch.
