WARMING UNFELT
The Daily Sentinel’s Gary Harmon:
There’s something touching about noting that robots, unfeeling machines that they are, telling us that the Earth isn’t heating according to the anti-gospel of Al Gore.
And that scientists are puzzled.
Hail robots! No wonder they’re worth big money, especially on the US version of Antiques Roadshow.
UPDATE. The Environmental Republican smites NPR.
Sorry to go off topic so fast, but they seem to have found the Sydney and the Kormoran.
http://www.abc.net.au/news/stories/2008/03/17/2190983.htmThis is probably all over the news in Australia but I haven’t heard anything about it in the US.

One is a bottom dwelling scum sucker and the other is just a robot.

Quite an oversight.

“Where is the extra heat all going? Kevin Trenberth at the National Center for Atmospheric Research says it’s probably going back out into space.”
Funny, I thought they said that man-made CO2 traps all that heat.
Posted by Ken Summers on 2008 03 19 at 04:23 PM • permalinkRegarding the data indicating no ocean warming:
“I suspect that we’ll able to put this together with a little bit more perspective and further analysis,”
That’s a 100% certainty. “...bit more perspective and further analysis…” means they’ll tweak the numbers, add in some unproven, theoretical factor and presto, sometime in 2009: “...we found, that the robots weren’t accounting for blahblah, and with that factored in, the data does in fact show a small degree of warming consistent with what we’ve been seeing on the surface…”

“Where is the extra heat all going? Kevin Trenberth at the National Center for Atmospheric Research says it’s probably going back out into space.”
Oh no! Not only are we killing Gaia with all our man-made heat, we’re heating up the solar system! Will we never repent!Btw, I used to listen to NPR because I liked the unusual music. But I couldn’t take the smarm and smug anymore.
Hell will have to freeze over before global warministas will admit they were wrong.
True, but in that case, Hell will have seen a very slight cooling, but not anything really significant. The fires of perdition may be on a brief hiatus. “Eternal Hellfire” doesn’t mean every year in Hell will be as soul-consuming as the previous. It may simply be that Hell is in a period of less fiery brimstone.*
*paraphrased from weaseling envirotard scientist in the NPR article.
ou, J’ai passe une belle journee a cause de cette histoire.Boy, I had a great day because of this astonishing news!.
I’d be surprized if Richard Harris of NPR hasn’t been ostracized.
I liked the bit where the scientist says
“Global warming doesn’t mean every year will be warmer than the last. And it may be that we are in a period of less rapid warming.”
No, there could be global warming and it get colder for centuries, due to natural, extraneous effects masking it. Of course! Duh! I’d say that colding is very definately “less rapid warming”.I like the last para:
Trenberth and Willis agree that a few mild years have no effect on the long-term trend of global warming. But they say there are still things to learn about how our planet copes with the heat.
But, but… but I thought the “science was settled”. I wonder if Trenbeth and Willis will be out of a job next week.

Over 600 men, the whole compliment of HMAS Sydney, were lost.
Battle between HMAS Sydney and HSK Kormoran. (wiki)
Australian War Memorial encyclopedia entry.#7, due to the moon, the Earth’s rotational period is theoretically being slowed by 2.5 milliSeconds per century; measurements indicate the slowing rate is only about 1.2 millisceonds per century.
Oh NO! WE ARE ALL GOING TO SLOW DOWN AND DIE!! </RAICWAIA>

Posted by Wimpy Canadian on 2008 03 19 at 07:14 PM • permalinkPS To all Blairites, apologies for hogging the posting but I really did enjoy this story today and I reckon, as the NPR published it, the Climate Warming shark has been jumped and it’s downhill from here for all those evil, self-swerving (sic), hypocritical scientists and baggage handlers.
Posted by Wimpy Canadian on 2008 03 19 at 07:19 PM • permalink#24 Kae, Diving on declared war graves is illegal in some countries, and not others. It varies from place to place. However, if a ship is in international waters, no laws apply. However, it is very difficult to prevent people from diving on any site. In fact, many divers would consider diving on a “war grave” as an act of honour to salute.
Others, of course, would consider it an opportunity to loot.
So ...
Posted by Wimpy Canadian on 2008 03 19 at 07:24 PM • permalinkThis looks to be the first of many “science” articles spinning the faith-based beliefs of the gorebal warmenistas away from “scientific consensus” (an oxymoron of staggering proportions) towards the scientific method.
I’d guess that the intent is try and hide this shameful period of rampant insanity, greed, and lust for power amongst unethical scientists and watermelons.
Posted by The_Real_JeffS on 2008 03 19 at 10:58 PM • permalinkThe oceans being cooler than expected is more proof that Al Gore has an underwater lair where he’s been hiding for some time.
Posted by charles austin on 2008 03 20 at 12:41 PM • permalinkBut seriously, the folks in that NPR report need to read up on Occam’s Razor and stop needlessly multiplying hypotheses when the data doesn’t fit the theory. The knee-jerk desire to question the data or the observers first when there is a disconnect between theory and reality isn’t exactly kosher with the scientific method. It is, however, quite in line with any number of systems based on dogma rather than science.

“There has been a very slight cooling, but not anything really significant,” Willis says. So the buildup of heat on Earth may be on a brief hiatus. “Global warming doesn’t mean every year will be warmer than the last. And it may be that we are in a period of less rapid warming.”
That forked tongue wagged to cover both ends. What a scientist!
Meanwhile I have noticed in various forums and blogs. That AGWer’s are unhappy with the news of a slight ocean cooling. That they decided that the few robots that were sending cooling bias errors was the probable cause of the cooling results of the ENTIRE report.
LOLOLOLOLOL!!!
They are desperate.

When you use “robot” and “Al Gore” in a sentence, it’s usually to compare, not contrast.
